- Thank you all for tuning in for this update to my previous review of the desk, constructive criticism is always welcome as I am looking at having more videos uploaded on a regular basis. thank you so much again for watching your time spent is worth a lot !
Great review! I am considering this desk. Btw cracked myself up seeing the tissue box on the table for reason at all definitely xD
The power supply have two rails where it goes attached. It doesn't use screws. The holes that you see in the desk are for turning the back to the front or vice-versa.
The larger model does have pilot holes for the power supply. Now after careful review you are right though, the holes of the smaller version showed are only there for the rails. And so the smaller version just doesn't have any. But I can assure you after having this same discussion on my previous video that the bigger version does screw to the table top :) thanks you for the input, very appreciated
@@hugosuniverse interesting what you say.
I would love to know how does this desk goes with VESA mounts. I wonder if the table will resist the clamp.
The tissues bro, whyy
It was winter time and I had a cold, it's that boring haha !
@@hugosuniverse sureeee :)
I got one, assembled it, and I returned it the next day. The major flaw with this desk is the 28.3 inch minimum height. They put long legs on it so that it's more stable (you never use the end of travel). Then they cheaped out and used two-stage legs. Net result: the table has the highest minimum height, which is unsuitable if you're under 5'10". That also means it's too high for 95% of women, I guess that's why it's a gamer desk.
I am 5'6" and never had any issues with the minimum height. I have days where I spent 16 hours + and so far for me it is still a great buy ! I do have some remarks after a year now, but mostly regarding the price compared to some of the competitors.
@@hugosuniverse which competitors?
Is your chair too low? Your lower legs should be 90 degrees down from chair to floor, feet flat on floor.
28 inches is like… the height of table my toddler uses. It seems pretty low to me?!
@@SgtSlapmaster 28-30 inches is appropriate for dining and other daily use. The problem is that's not appropriate for typing. When you're typing, your arms and wrists are level to slanted down, never slanted up. The BIFMA G1 standard for computer use says the keyboard height for a median US woman, which is 5' 4", should be 25 inches. And that's median, meaning half of all women need a lower desk.
Thanks for the review my fellow Tim Hortans drinker. I’ll get the bigger one
It says weight limit is 70kg. But I wonder if its with the wood plate or without it?
Hi, what measurement is this desk? IKEA only has one option and its 180cmx80cm, is this the size you have?
I have same desk. 34" curve and 27" flat panel on single dual monitor arm. I like the desk a lot, but the wobble is just too much. I've tried to fix this but nothing seems to work. May need to return it. Otherwise it's a nice desk - Ive used it less than 1 month so far
As a fellow programmer who's interested in this desk, I loved spotting the capsule holder there! Thanks for the review, cheers!
Good observation haha. Caught red handed, cheers !
@@hugosuniverse On Ikea site reviews are quite bad about scratches on the tabletop.
I'm thinking about just buying the base and adding a better quality wooden top?
PS: Fellow programmer and Mighty owner here ;)
@@user-ic8qh9ot8j really? 'cause I see good the table top, It's my impression.
I am trying to convice my wife that I need this desk (the bigger version of it) for work (haha) because I saw it yesterday and it really looks awesome wioth all the features, true the price is quite high but I think it's worth it.
Great video man!
you have to convince your wife? brother
having good tools or stuff you enjoy for work makes it a lot more enjoyable, just gotta make sure you down fall down the rabbit hole, there will always be a new gadget you don't own :)
Thanks for the review. I'm about to buy this one for myself, but i don't understand, while all other desks in IKEA are in sizes 140cm x 80\70cm or 160cm x 80cm, why this desk comes only in 180cm x 80cm or 140cm x 80cm, where is the middle size of between those two, the 160cm x 80cm?
180cm is too much, i don't have the space to put this size of desk, and 140cm is too small, i want those extra 20cm to use on this desk...
So i understand that in terms of the base/motorized legs it doesn't matter, because the frame is adjustible in length, but the top i assume i will need to buy another one that i need, the 140cm one.
Why not just buy a different top the size you want?
Thank you for you review! Much appreciated!
Great review. Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks for the review!
i believe the cut out is suppose to be on the back, for the cables to go through
it is advertised as universal, they even have a picture of the desk assembled this way on ikea's site and on top of that the controller, does have pilot hole on both sides to screw on which further indicates it is suppose to be universal :)
@@hugosuniverse I was wondering exactly that. Unlike this question, the size of the table was a little small, I think you made the adjustment, it doesn't look like 180x80.
what a review man, thanks A LOT
I have the large version for a few months and I like it as a standing desk, BUT.. mine scratched the surface already after 2 weeks. No real abuse, just puting a computer on the desk and working on it. Since then, I've had 2 more places where the surface is scratched and it looks is if the toplayer (black) us superthin. Less than a mm and then it is some kind of brown color.
i have the same issues but not on the surface of the desk. The surrounding of the desk has lost its finish in places leaving a white colour popping. i am deceived from that aspect.
wish i could get her with like 180x60 or 50 instead of 80, feel like i will be without much space in my room because of it
hey. does the countertop chip/scratch easily ?
You think it would hold 15kg 48" tv on it ?
Hi what size is your deck there are 3 sizes ?
140x80?
How did you manage to get such a clean cable management? Mine is ugly, you especially see the height adjustment cables under my uppspel desk and yours looks a lot cleaner. Could you perhaps make a video on cable management?
I have a made a quick video to showoff my cable management : czcams.com/video/qYfQ9o9AGL8/video.html
thank you for spending time watching my video.
Clean cables? You are joking right?
@@DIFFIEH it's not all hanging under the desk which is already cleaner than my set-up
Great review! Do you know if you can give the 'gamer' design on the legs? Do they like peal off?
No the legs design is actually of pretty good quality. to be noted now after a year the black color on the side started to scrape off, leaving the white finish of the material underneath exposed. for the price I did expect it to be more durable especially for a "gamer" category desk.
Is this the 160cm version?
Do u think that this can handle 2 VESA Arms for 24" monitors?
Does it need to be connected to the power at any height or does it remain locked?
If I turn off the power, the desktop goes down???
No I've actually had power going out when I was using it in a raised position, the desk will remain at height and requires power to bring it back down
@@hugosuniverse ty so much
can it use with others ikea leg?
Good review bro, I got one too.
I've seen that table in the store and the table top was all scratched. Is it really easy to scratch? Also do edges wear out?
So far mine is in perfect shape still, the top doesn't have scratches so far, then again I guess it depends on how you use it. But it does catch dust quite a bit.
Hi, thanks for the review! Any chance you can write the exact length of side brackets that hold the desk top? Those that directly above the table legs?
hope this is not coming in too late. the side arms have 55cm depth
@@hugosuniverse No. not too late. Thank you very much! Really appreciate it.
Thank you very much everyone for the comments, the likes, the views, the subscribers. it is much more than I anticipated when I released this video.
yo how u think it would look with adils legs, honestly? cuz i been thinking of picking up the tabletop, but feel like it would look odd with adils legs.
140x80cm
Any shakiness or wobble with the desk?
Watch the full video! 4 mins onwards
Not that much, the higher you go the more increase in wobble. Also it does matter on how well you assemble the table.
Edit* wobble is pretty much unnoticeable in normal use
How big is that monitor? Trying to get an idea for my setup
43.4 inches its a pretty big ultra ide monitor to take note this is also the smaller version of the desk, hope this comment isn't too late
HUGE Warning on this desk, please steer clear. The powder-coating finish wears off at an alarming rate. The entire front of my desk is completely marred. It gets so bad to the point where paint was coming off when I was cleaning it. Water spots leave bulges. Unlike previous Ikea desks which could be battered to death, this thing looks like absolute garbage after a year. I entirely regret buying it.
I am 187 cm tall do you think the 120 cm are enough for me?
Hey, dont own standing desk, but was in ikea recently and I checked out this exact desk. Im 194 cm tall and at heighest setting it was too high for me, so for sure it will be fine for you.
Yes lol
U wil have 75 max
I just built mine and when I try to screw the cable tray it only has one hole, were you able to use both?
You possibly have the wrong alignment on one side of the legs ? I do have 2 holes. Let me know I will try to help best I can !
@@hugosuniverse yeah, I've removed the top of the desk and effectively I screwed it up with the alignment that shows "1" or "2" depending de size of the desk.
I decided to buy this after I watched your video tho, so thanks!
Btw do you think that it can support VESA Arms? I'd like to set 2 24" monitors but not quite sure if this will be resist enough.
@@armandoarellano4776 I do not really have experience with Vesa mounts, but I would guess there would be some wobble at height. Just my opinion and I am glad you liked the review thank you !
his dimensions?
I was looking to get one of these in January 2023. It was $689.99 for the 70". I looked today (April 2023) and now it's $1,249.99 at Ikea.
Ikea is a ripoff.
How did you remotely control it? Is it app controled?
He pressed a button…
@@TheNpcNoob No way, at 3:50, the desk lifts itself. Is it a wired control?
@@jasony486 lol at 3:42 he pressed a preset button. It’s a numbered system so the button he pressed moved the table to a height that corresponds to the button that was pressed.
@@TheNpcNoob hahahaha, Okay got it thank you for your reply.
what happens if the power goes out? does the table sink? or is there some sort of motor stop built in?
These mechanisms usually use a rack pinion gear, so it cannot fall down, whether there is power or not, it's irrelevant.
Them Cleenex on the desk. We dont wanna know. XD
Timmy's, I see 🍁
Is this dual motor?
Yes, one for each leg
Die taschentücher xd
