    I have been doing a lot of investigating to get a Standing desk in Europe recently... And honestly it is impossibly hard! All the shops here in Sweden are online, and they sell Tables with chinese motors and actuators with 3 year warranty, yet they still charge 800€ for them. The solution I have ended up going for, was to compromise 20cm of table estate by buying the Idasen (because it is incredibly stable), and then I bought a Linak controller DPG1C desk panel (The electronics manufacturer of the Idasen electronics) so that the desk suddenly has memory capabilities. :)

    • @chrisrobin4962
      @chrisrobin4962 Před rokem

      Interesting, late to the party, but I have a table from dpj, which seems to be chinese, like the table but eould love to have a smarter controller. Does the linak controller work with other tables as well? I don't feel the urge to buy another desk for a lot of money 😄

      @@chrisrobin4962 I do not know whether the controller works or not, really :( I know that what I wrote does work because I saw it, but I am not sure whether the controller works with other tables. It should work with other tables as long as it is a table with Linak actuators and components. If it is a chinese build it won't work. What I ended up doing (Because I had to return the Idasen due to damage during transport) was to get a Fully Jarvis desk, and even though it has chinese actuators it had 15 years of warranty, and super good reviews. It is incredibly stable and it honestly was worth it every penny.

      @@sohailr Yeah, so I ended up using a motorised desk base I got from somewhere better and then an Ikea kitchen countertop. Worked really nicely.
      If I could change anything, I wouldn't have screwed the sides of the lift so close to the edge of the table - it makes mounting arms and stuff on the side a bit more fiddly.

    Thanks for your review. After watching, I went to Ikea yesterday to check out the Uppspel. I compared it to the Idasen. I like that the Uppspel has legs that are offset towards the back of the desk compared to the Idasen where the legs are centered. With the legs offset to the rear of the desk, there's less chance for you to bump your knees on the legs. I also liked that the Uppspel has a larger desktop surface than the largest Idasen top. I liked the angled edge on the Uppspel top compared to the plain edges on the Idasen. The controller with the memory settings is a big plus for the Uppspel compared to the Idasen. The finish on the surface of the Uppspel seems a little strange to me. It seems like it will wear out easier than the finish on the Idasen top. At a height comfortable for me to sit at the Uppspel was stable and didn't wobble enough for me to be concerned. However at the standing height, I found that it wobbled quite a bit. When I tested the Idasen at the same height, it did not wobble nearly as much. In my opinion, the Idasen seems a lot more stable at standing height than the Uppspel.

  • @1SaG
    @1SaG Před 2 lety +7

    With money no object, I would've bought this one. Or probably the more "civilian" looking, non-gaming electrical desk they have, since I don't like black furniture. I only encountered the Uppspel in two different Ikea stores (my town happens to have two Ikeas), and I will say that this desk felt super-sturdy to me.
    As it is, I decided to go a bit less blingy with my desk (I was also building a new gaming-PC from scratch) and ended up buying the Utespelare in grey/silver. I wasn't really out to buy a "gaming"-desk, but the one I wanted (Bekant with oak tabletop) was out of stock locally and also couldn't be ordered online at the time.
    After a few weeks of use: The Utespelare is also surprisingly sturdy and stable... no Ikea-wobble here so far. Of course: It's not nearly as convenient as the Uppspel WRT height adjustment - but at least it can be adjusted. That's the price you have to pay for... err... a lower price, I guess. €149 for the Utespelare is a pretty sweet deal, IMO. But I would probably recommend the Uppspel to anyone who can afford it and who doesn't mind black desks.

    • @Tarets
      @Tarets Před 2 lety +3

      I've just tested Ikea's electrical desks in store and both Uppspel and Idasen in were literally the sturdiest of all the desks in there with Idasen maybe having just a tiny head over the "gaming" desk (the unit I tested however was smaller, so that's a signifficant factor). I'd consider both to be completely acceptable full stretch, but it's the memory controller that makes the biggest difference for me - to bad they haven't updated it on the Idasen series.
      On the other hand Bekant desks are something I would never buy - those were wobbly af.

    I have the desk. It wobbles...not to much, but it is anoying to hear monitor and lamp making noise at every kee press when in standing position.
    Searched for a wooble reason and I guess the reason is that diagonal support that is on the bottom is really just for show. If you put your finger where support meets the main leg and move the table you can feel the motion between the leg and the support.
    I was thinking of drilling a hole in the back of the leg and fixing support and the main leg together with a screw. But... I guess then the table wouldn't go to low position as it would be hitting the screw...
    Any Idea how to actualy utilize the diagonal support? Maybe some epoxy glue... but can't be disasebmled then...

    • @techiedoodledoo
      @techiedoodledoo  Před 2 lety +1

      We tried feeling the motion as you described on our two tables (we are currently using one small and one large table) in the highest position, and with one person shaking with quite a bit of force while the other is feeling for motion, we can only feel the slightest bit of movement between the leg and the diagonal support. Our suggestion is going over all the screws and making sure that they are tight. If that does not help, your frame might have a production error so you may want to exchange it.

    I've been looking into this desk or atleast the desk top but sadly there is no information as how deep the desk is from the narrowest part in the middle. I'd like to have 80cm wide table to not have my screen too near to me but 70cm could be doable too.

      Sorry for a late response :/ We just measured, the table is 75 cm deep from the narrowest part in the middle :)

    I just tested this desk at an Ikea - there was no more wobble than a normal desk would if you shook it.

      So it wobbles just as much as other tables?

    Hi guys, a couple of questions if you could help me?
    How long did it take to roughly build one desk from start to finish? If I get this desk I'll be building it on my own, in an office which is literally 7ft x 8ft so it's small!
    Also, with the desk fully built, how far in do the legs sit/meet the underside of the desk from the edge of the table top?
    I hope the questions are clear, appreciate the help.

    • @techiedoodledoo
      @techiedoodledoo  Před rokem +1

      Hi Ryan! The distance between the edge of the table top and the start of the legs are 45,5 cm. We used roughly 1,5 hours building the desks :)

      That's too bad :/ When they first came out here in Norway they seemingly sold out very quickly as well, but luckily another batch came in after awhile enabling us to purchase them. Hopefully the Ikea in Montreal will receive more shipments as well! Maybe relevant: If one of the sizes are in stock but the size you want is not, you can check with the store on whether they have only the table top in the size that you want. If they do, you may be able to purchase the table in the unwanted size and the additional tabletop, and mount the tabletop of the size you want. The frame is adjustable and can be used with either table top size. (Our local Ikea did not have the smaller Uppspel in stock, but had the tabletops for them. As we wanted to change one to the smaller version, we just purchased the smaller tabletop and changed it.)

  • @gabrielherz2781
    @gabrielherz2781 Před rokem +1

    no, you mounted wrong, the table it's not in the right position, the board goes upside down, to put cables through it, and put the suport of connections just bottom.

  • @akorenkov

    If you're getting just the desk frame, it is one size.
    Extendable from 140cm to 180cm.

    • @akorenkov
      @akorenkov Před rokem +1

      @@castielcroup1007 Yes. You can't go less than 140cm, and you can go wider than 180cm with overhang on either side.

    I believe that you put the top the wrong way.. the indent part should be use at the back so the the cables could go through it

    • @techiedoodledoo
      @techiedoodledoo  Před rokem +2

      You can put the top whichever way that fits best for your needs :) For our setup, the tables are not against the wall, so the cables get plenty of space either way

    The major problem with the desk is whatever coating the surface has, it is absolutely not acceptable. The entire user facing edge of the coating has worn off for me and looks disgusting. Major oversight in comparison to previous desks such as the Jerker, which had the finish of a tank.
