    Hi there, I am following your pattern and it seems like my blanket is getting shorter with every row. I am starting each row in the 2nd stitch and I feel like I should be going into the first (like I would with a dish cloth). I looked back at your directions again and again to make sure I had it right but I think its getting shorter. I am new to this so maybe I just need to continue and see it through and it will be fine....

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 5 měsíci

      It sounds like you’re skipping a stitch. I highly recommend putting a stitch marker in the very first stitch you made in the row and in the very last stitch of the row. That will help to keep your ends straight. 😊

    Amanda, I seem to keep coming back to you time and again. I love your channel. I have a question about the HDC stitch. How can there be so many variations on a stitch. Start in 3 chain, turn work chain 2. Others say start in 1st chain, turn work chain 1. I'm at a loss. I love the HDC but notice I always seem to have an issue with losing a stitch. Thank you!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 2 lety

      I’m so glad you keep coming back! Thanks for your support! It’s all personal preference, as I even notice variations on stitches. It’s all what you learn, so I’m just teaching others how I learned. As far as losing stitches, I suggest putting a stitch marker in the very first and very last stitch of each row and move them up after each row. That should help keep track of things.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 3 měsíci +1

      That sounds like a great idea! It would depend on how fast you can crochet and how much time you have to do so. I can usually complete baby blankets in about a week. Hope that helps!

    You said at the beginning of your tutorial that we should use a stitch marker. It would really have been great if you would have actually put a stitch marker at the beginning and the end saying it is one thing and doing it is another I really have a hard time keeping my edges straight, but I’m just not quite sure where to put the stitch marker now I’m still not sure. Thank you.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 9 měsíci

      After making your very first stitch of the row, you will place a stitch marker into that stitch. After making your last stitch of the row, place a stitch marker into that stitch. As you make more rows, you’ll move your stitch marker up one row. I will try and show stitch markers in future videos 😊

    I'm curious, the 108 chains that you made... Are you creating the side of the blanket or the top or the bottom? I guess another way to ask this is, when you make the 108 chains is that a row you have created or a column? That would be helpful for me in knowing when I'm choosing the size, what it is I'm judging on.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello! Do you mean your chain is starting to become a little rounded? If so, it's possible your chain is too tight. I suggest going up a hook size and trying to keep your chain a little more loose. If you're making a few rows, this could mean your stitches are too tight, or you're missing/adding too many stitches to your blanket. Again, I would try and keep your stitches a little more loose. Hope that helps!

I counted stitches and used stitch markers and it is becoming a...hmm, what's the shape again? Trapezoid? I don't remember but at this rate, if I keep going to how long it is supposed to be, it is going to be a triangle. 😂 I'm not doing something right and I can't figure it out. Please, send help. 😅

This should help keep your edges straight. Remember, you will work a half double crochet into the top of the chain at the beginning of each row. I hope that helps! :)
