3 Ways to Half Double Crochet
Half Double Crochet (hdc). This is my favorite stitch and I really wanted to use it in different ways, so I thought I’d show you 3 ways to use it.
I’m sure these stitches have actual names, but I don’t know what they are called. Haha! I love to make up things as I go along and this is one of those times.
I hope that this will encourage you to find other new stitches and be creative. Crocheting doesn’t really have any rules, so feel free to experiment!

I just found you. I am a brand new crocheter. I haven't even crocheted anything yet. I've just done swatches of basic stitches. I've been watching one particular channel and the teacher is very good. But, speaking only for myself, as good as she was, I wanted to check out other channels. You are fabulous! I understand what your saying and doing and I can easily follow. I am therefore going to depend on this video, follow I think #3, and make this a baby blanket in light blue. I'm so excited, I can't tell you! Really enjoyed seeing the 3 HDC variations. Its a lovely, versatile stitch. I'm new to crochet and am amazed at the different looks that can be achieved just by using the back loops and/or adding the slip stitch. It may not look 'easy' but you break it down so it looks doable. Thank you for this teaching tutorial.

I need help with a swatch pattern, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but maybe you can help me. I am doing alternating rows of half double crochet and single crochet and they always end up slanted, I guess its like a trapezoid. It drives me nuts because the first two I did were perfect squares and now they all slant and I don’t know how to keep it from doing that. Thank you!!
Make sure to ch 1 at the end of the SC row and ch 3 at the end of the DC row. Also, don’t forget to make your stitch in the stitch under those chains at the beginning of the rows. Hope that makes sense 🤪🙌🏻🥰
On #2 pattern when you chain 2 are you going in the same place as the chain 2 or the next chain
It’s the next stitch after the ch 2 🥰🧶

It's so hard getting through the holes
Just make sure to loosen up on the tension. I know it’s ha d to do, but it will be so much more rewarding 😘💖 You can also use a larger hook. That should help 👍🏻😁
