  • If you would like to learn how to create a night-Lapse or Star-Lapse with your GoPro I have made this tutorial guide for beginners going over everything you need to know about capturing a stunning Night Lapse. In this video I will go over the best settings to use, tips to frame your shot, and other things you will need to know. GoPro makes it easy to capture incredible night lapses and star lapses both in photo mode and video mode. In this video, I am demonstrating with a GoPro Hero 11 Black but you can use any GoPro as most of the information is still relevant.

    Such a great tutorial Shawn! I will give this a try up on the north shore of Lake Superior at the end of August.
    You might want to give it a try if you're over this way. Over a dozen waterfalls in the area. Gooseberry Falls State Park is a great place to begin exploring.

      Yes, it was the peak design tripod. I ordered it when it was a Kickstarter several years ago. It was expensive but well worth it. Such a compact and lightweight tripod. It’s easy to take long everywhere.

    Thank you for this video. I am planning a trip out to Vegas at the very end of August to drive up to Tonopah to film the night skies and then drive off the next morning to Reno.
    Now i know what i need to buy.
    Just a couple of questions.
    Would this very same gopro camera be able to be used to film the drive from Vegas to Reno and exactly how many videos can it store?

    Very helpful, and at the same time frustrating now that I found out the Hero 12 discarded the Night-Lapse quick setting. It's not there at all. Any idea how to now access time lapse and night lapse with the hero 12? Thanks for your presentation. I do have the 11 and 10 units, so I'm not out of luck, these settings are available in those.

      Don't have a 12 but, you should be able to create a profile and use the settings laid out in this video. Unless that function has been removed in the 12 as well.

    Very cool. What size sd card do you use when you do a night video? I would need a battery pack.

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Even with a video night-lapse, it theoretically is just recording a series of images in the background that it will automatically compile so it doesn’t require a huge card. It’s 64 GB card is more than sufficient, but I tend to use 128 all the time in my action cameras.

    Thanks for the video! Btw. how is your Hero 11 Black compared to Hero 11 Mini? As I mentioned in a comment in your other video I'm returning my Hero 11 Mini because of problems with powering it up (It kept getting locked). Do you have issues with your Hero 11 Black?

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  Před 9 měsíci

  • @graphguy
    @graphguy Před 9 měsíci +3

    A major flaw in gopro is that if you are using the timer function and have an external power source, it won't use the external power source. This is a major flaw.

    You can do time lapse overnight with the gopro 11? Darn, I have a gopro 9 and it only last 20 minutes until heat shuts it down and I lose the video. Guess I need to get the gopro 11. I guess I bought the wrong camera.

    • @AirPhotography
      @AirPhotography  Před 9 měsíci

      You can do the exact same thing with your hero 9. Just like the 11 you have to plug it into a Powerbank to give a power all night. It won’t overheat because it’s just taking a series of photos not recording 4K video. When it’s done that, put it all together into a 4K video at the end.

    • @jmoney1622
      @jmoney1622 Před 6 měsíci +1

      Having the battery door open would allow water or moisture to enter the battery compartment, charging port, SD card slot, and all other electronics behind the door. That is why other battery doors allow for an opening to plug in the GoPro while still sealing the other components
      All in all, a battery door that is open will allow water to get in and ruin the camera. Therefore, not water proof
