How to troubleshoot a water pump control system?

  • Today we will show you how to troubleshoot the best control system for service and maintenance. We highly recommend installing a ball valve after the system discharge. Please keep in mind the following the best control system is recommended for flooded applications not boosting.
    The starting pressure of the controller is set at 22, 32, or 42 PSI. Please keep in mind the 25 PS I rule for pump control systems. I will explain the 25 PSI rule during this video. A final consideration always read the owner’s manual when operating a pump control system.
    0:30 There are two situations to troubleshoot for a pump control system:
    the pump does not turn Off
    the pump does not turn On
    0:40 What to do when a water pump does not turn off?
    The first situation in which the pump does not turn off if there is a tap or faucet open and the system is working, then the function shuts off just a few seconds after you closed the ball valve. If this happens, the system is working correctly, which means there might be a leak elsewhere in the installation. However, if you close the ball valve and the pump keeps operating, there could be an issue with the controller.
    1:14 How to Clean a pump control system?
    You will need to disassemble the system. For this:
    - remove the piping remove the controller
    - clean the controller by flushing clean water and moving the check valve to remove any debris that might be stopping its normal movement
    1:43 How does a water pump control system operates?
    You can see a check valve at the bottom and one at the top the one at the top. The valve at the top controls the operation, and both valves should be able to move freely. Check to see if the spring is fixed and adjusted for a specific start-off pressure of the system. These pressures can be 22, 32, or 42 PSI. Next, reassembled the system, put the controller back in place, attach the pipes and test again. If the problem persists, please contact us at (954)474-9090.
    2:22 What to do when a water pump does not turn on?
    If your pump does not turn on, check all electrical connections. If the pump was working, check if it is in failure mode. There are many reasons why the pump would be in failure mode: either the water pump is running dry, or the pump’s maximum pressure does not meet the 25 PS I rule.
    2:45 Water Pump running dry
    When there is no water at the source, the pump will go into failure mode. Naturally, the pump will turn on automatically five times, within one hour, to resume regular operation. If still there is no water available, the pump goes into failure mode. Ensure that there is water in the source and press the restart button on the controller or unplug and plug the system back. Usually, the system should resume operation.
    3:11 What is the 25 PSI Rule for pump control systems?
    When installing a Best Control controller on a pump, keep in mind the difference between the shutoff pressure of the pump and the starting controller PSI. The correct setting must be at least 25 PSI. This is known as the 25 PSI Rule.
    For example:
    If the shutoff pressure of your pump is 60 PSI, then the maximum starting pressure controller should be 32. You could also use the 22 PSI since the difference between the shutoff pressure is still greater than 25. However, if the shutoff pressure of your pump is 50 PSI, you will have to select the 22 PSI version.
    3:52 What is the maximum elevation difference between the pump control and the highest faucet?
    Remember that the elevation between the controller and the highest faucet cannot be more than 50 feet, 70 feet, or 90 feet, depending on the controller model selected. Otherwise, the controller will never operate correctly.

    Hi,
    I have an issue with our pump.
    It shows fault LED and won’t turn on. Press restart it does a cycle and then returns back to fault issue.
    If I open all taps in house and press restart then it works but as soon as I turn a tap off the pump again, returns to fault.
    Do you think this is a pressure issue?
    Thanks in advance.

      @PEARLWaterSystems  Před 3 lety

      Hello. Each pump has its own shut off pressure. for instance our model : BWSMS07 17G40P has shut of at 70 PSI. you could always measure the pressure in the system and the shut off, by installing a pressure gauge in the system.

    the toilet paper method. We also checked the toilet system and everything checked out OK.

      The NRV at the intake of the pump control unit may be dirty so leaking pressure back to the pump. If you dont want to strip the control unit down its easy to add a NRV on top of the control outlet (they are about 5 dollars)

    Saludos amigo! necesito su ayuda por favor, compre un presscontrol está nuevo y lo conecte a una bomba de 1/3 hp pequeña y a su vez a un tanque de agua de 2000 litros con buena presión de agua, pero resulta que después de conectar y energizar el equipo arranco muy bien con la luz verde y amarilla prendidas perfectamente pero ocurre que después de usar o lavar o bañarme o después de usar el agua y cerrar el grifo de manera inmediata se activa la luz roja, y si abro de una vez el grifo se apaga la luz roja y si cierro el grifo inmediatamente se enciende la luz roja hasta que el equipo presuriza y apaga la bomba pero la luz roja sigue encendida. Hay suficiente agua en el tanque con buena presión, pregunto por favor el porque prende la luz roja de falla al cerrar el grifo y sigue prendida después de apagar el presscontrol? por favor espero su ayuda. Gracias!

    • @PEARLWaterSystems
      @PEARLWaterSystems  Před 2 lety

      Good afternoon.
      Yes it is possible. you need to make sure there is at least 25 PSI difference between the shut off pressure of the pump, and the controller starting pressure.
      We highly recommend you to hire a certified plumber, to help you with the installation.

  • @paulotto272

    How can you check the pressure when there is none. If the pump controller is in failure mode, then the pump hasn't been working so there would be no pressure. I understand that you can adjust the pressure but it doesnt' have a setting, you just turn the knob in the back and it adjusts, it doesn't tell you what you are adjusting it to.

    • @PEARLWaterSystems
      @PEARLWaterSystems  Před 2 lety

      Hello
      To check pressure you need a pressure gauge installed in your system.
      Not sure what model of controller you have, but the Best controller has fixed starting pressure. you can not adjust the starting pressure setting. there are 3 models: 22, 32 and 42 PSI.
      We recommend you to hire a certified plumber to help you with your system.

      Hello
      It is hard to say. Did the conditions of your installation/application changed? If the system is going into failure mode, as you noticed in the video, there are 2 reasons. If you checked and still and none of them applied, we recommend you to contact an experienced contractor to check your system.
