    What I LOVE about this sequence is that so often Bond is presented as the sole competent agent in MI6 but the guy fighting Necros here is nearly as badass as Necros himself. Loved that.

      yes, even at the time most films would likely have shown the villain as "unstoppable". but at least some of the other personnel is supposed to highly trained as well. which is why this scene feels more "realistic".

    One of the few instances in a Bond film where the henchman is a greater threat than the main villain. Thugs like Jaws and Oddjob - Bond can evade or outsmart them. Stamper, like a lot of the named henchmen, appears as a threatening figure but in the film doesn't achieve an awful lot than killing a lot of sailors helplessly floating in the sea (hardly a challenge). Yes, this installment is seriously underrated, as is Dalton himself. I always preferred License to Kill, but as I have watched all the Bond films more and more, I think this one may actually edge it out. I think overall License to Kill had a better overall cast of villains, but the Necros character alone was the best. Dalton hits it out of the park in both episodes, where I feel every other Bond actor outside of Connery has been hot and cold. Connery puts in a top performance every time, but some of the bad support acting and corny dated themes in the older episodes let the overall experience down. I am biased however since I grew up with the Dalton episodes.

    The MI6 people should have realized that for the KGB to kidnap Koskov back just a few hours after he defected meant that the whole defection was a false flag operation. It would have taken a lot longer to plan the operation, including getting the helicopter. Bond may have suspected this, but M and the minister seemed to have totally missed it.

  • @BackAgainize
    @BackAgainize Před 11 lety +2

    what also makes it brilliant though, is, this is the first time we see the bad guy, surprised by a random agent, well-trained and alert, who fights to the end. Necros did not expect Green to enter the room, and he was probably even frightened that now he has to face a MI6 agent. Like I said, had there been more than one, or at least two more, with their intelligence and training, Necros knows he would have been overcome. He might have physical strength and brains, but MI6 KNOWS KGB tactics.
