    In an odd way, it's kind of sad to watch Scaramanga die in his own funhouse on his own magnificent island paradise. If I had all that, nobody in civilization would ever hear from me again. RIP to the great Christopher Lee for suavely playing a Bond villain that will never again be replicated. Even though Roger Moore is my favorite Bond, I was actually rooting for Scaramanga the first time I watched this film.

      +bacardibum Casino Royale with David Niven as James Bond. He gave the role more class, unfortunately the studio wanted a parody of the movie. So in their "infinite wisdom" they turned it from an action movie which is what it is into an art film that can hardly be understood! That is THE WORST Bond film with some of the others (your own opinion here) running a close second. Actually the version of Casino Royale with Daniel Craig is much better though they had to muck it up by inserting the new M in an earlier James Bond story. Continuity was totally thrown out the window in favor of contract with a star. Now it seems Dame Judi has abandoned MI6 and company and we have "M 3.0".

      Never understood why this movie gets so much bad, people pan it, they think its in the bottom 5 of james bond movies. Why , i enjoyed it from min 1. • @cdorman11
      @cdorman11 Před 4 měsíci

      @@shazanali692 All of J.W. Pepper's lines in LALD were good. None of them in TMWTGG were. The coincidence of crossing paths was bad enough, but the contrivance of a Louisiana sheriff going to SE Asia to buy an AMC was extreme and overshadowed what little humor this recreation of the Mrs. Bell scene from LALD had. Britt and M are not the self-possessed professionals we'd seen in previous Bond films. The bad guy putting the Bond Girl into a hot outfit was done much better in TSWLM. The two young women taking on an entire martial arts school made one pine for Bond's training in YOLT, or any other martial arts film. The buildup to Bond's meeting his contact was unnecessarily antagonistic, like an attempt to recreate the buildup to meeting Tiger. He's no longer a gentleman, which is what works for Moore more than Connery. He's not unflappable and calm. Does Bond even tell any jokes in this one? He's more brutal--getting rough with Maud, pushing a helpful kid into the river, and hoisting Hervé into a David Blaine. Someone says it better: www.reddit.com/r/JamesBond/comments/17tfxpo/whats_with_the_sudden_characterization_shift_for/
      By the end, Britt is such an anti-Bond girl that it's unclear why Bond hung up on M to get back to babysitting her--once again an attempt to repeat a joke from prior Bond outings but yet again with half of the setup missing.
      I've really like Guy Hamilton movies ("Evil Under the Sun," "LALD", "Goldfinger"), with really strong meshing of music with visuals. But neither he nor I liked this one. He considered it a bridge too far.

    I find myself wondering which came first… Inspector Clouseau instructing Kato to attack/kill him without warning, or Francisco Scaramanga instructing Nick Nack to try to have him assassinated to keep him on his game?

    You can see Al Capone blink at 5:15!
    You can see Moore flinch at 7:33!

      they used a golden revolver, however it was in the film Goldfinger, his signature weapon, maybe they did not want to appear repetitive in the use of their golden guns, though I much prefer his assembled gun to a revolver, much more badass
