The Ford Expedition owner's manual contains the following information on how to program or pair a new remote fob smart key.
Note: A maximum of four smart key remote fobs can be programmed to your Ford Expedition. If you would like to replace a previously programmed smart key with a new smart key remote fob, or if you already have four smart keys programmed to your vehicle, you must contact a Locksmith to be erased and reprogrammed..
1. Remove the key blade from the smart key remote fob.
2. Open the Ford Expedition center console lid. With the smart key remote fob buttons facing upward and the unlock button facing the front of your vehicle, place the first smart key remote fob into the backup slot.
3. Press the push button ignition switch.
4. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
5. Remove the smart key.
6. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed smart key remote fob in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch.
7. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.
8. Remove the remote key fob.
9. Wait five seconds, then place the unprogrammed smart key in the backup slot and press the ford Expedition push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Check that the smart key remote control functions operate and your Ford Edge starts with the new smart key.
This remote key fob programming procedure applies to following Ford models:
2018 Ford Expedition ( XLT, Limited and Platinum )
2019 Ford Expedition ( XLT, Limited and Platinum )
2020 Ford Expedition ( XLT, Limited and Platinum )
2021 Ford Expedition ( XLT, Limited and Platinum )

I bought an extra key fob. I took one look at the instructions and then I Googled and found your video. It took me less than two minutes to program my extra fob thanks to you. Thank you. Now I have to go to a locksmith to cut the key in the extra fob.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
F350 2022. After many printed instructuons that overcomplicate the process, your simple video nailed it. Thanks
You're Welcome!
Followed this guide step by step. No luck with key fob programming.
Thank you best video out there. Works on Ford bronco
Glad it helped!
Yes, it's the same for F150. Nice video, good idea to use the dings for timing.
Many other instructions omit the dings, I was turning mine off too early and it would not program. Once I waited it worked on my 18 Exploder
do you have a video for a 2021 bronco? i tried this and the unlock and lock buttons work on the new key but the remote start does not.
Does the new blank key has to be a fresh OEM un-programed key from the dealer or can I buy a "gently used" key online which most likely may have a program mated to another expedition?
You can program a used key on these
how if I lost a key?? I’m trying to replace a lost one and he tells us ya need both? I’m flabbergasted!
Hello. I am trying to make this work on my 2022 Expedition Max. I’m not having any luck. It says key program failure. I’m trying to do this with an OEM replacement key. Any thoughts?
This only works on the 2018 - 2021 Expedition. Unfortunately there is no manual way to program the fobs for a 2022 - you will need an automotive locksmith or dealership
I wonder if this will work on my '21 Explorer?
It will not - there is no manual way to program key fobs to a 2021 Explorer
Thanks for excellent video
I tried to program new one for my 2018 Ford Expedition by following same procedure and it showed me at the end the programming completed successfully but the buttons not works. Only I can started the vehicle if I put the remote in backup slot.
Also I repeated the same procedure many times but no benefit.
Could please help and advise.
It sounds like the battery in the new fob might be dead, I would start with with.
Thanks for your respond.
I already replaced the battery by new one but still the buttons not working and my vehicle didn't detect the Intelligent Access key fob.
Are sure you installed the new battery correctly? ( not upside down )
Make sure the remote frequency
@@user-cv4xn3rt7q How can I check remote frequency?
Nice
Thanks!
One of the two original keys was lost. The dealer programmed a third key, so I have 2 working keys with me. By using the third key and one of the original keys, can I programm a 4th key this way?
yes
Will this method work on a 2020 navigator?
Yes
Will this work if I only have 1 key for my 2019 Expedition Max?
No
@@PYR-Auto What do you need to do if you only have 1 working fob?
2020 Expedition Ltd.
will this work on a 2020 Ford Explorer?
No - there is no manual way to program fobs for a 2020 Explorer. You will need an Automotive Locksmith or Dealership
Will this work on a 2021 Ford Explorer Limited
?
No
I bought ford expedition platinum 2019, and my friend bought also ford expedition limited 2019, both cars are used cars, with two remote keys for each, my friend car was stolen, when we checked the CCTV, we knew it was stolen by a third remote key.
Can I change the remote keys code of my car ?
Not that I am aware of - A locksmith or dealership can erase all previous remotes but it doesn't change the code
@@PYR-Auto thank you for your reply.
Is this the same for a F150? I'd like to try it...
If your F-150 has a push button start ignition and depending on the year then it will be similar. You can find the full instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/f150-250-browse-207.aspx
Yes, I did it and it worked
Different process on a 2021 F250? It didn't work for me.
Unfortunately there is no manual programming procedure for a 2021 F250 - You will need an automotive locksmith or dealership
It says programming successful but it didn’t work. Nothing when I press the remote. This is a remote from my 2019 Expedition. New vehicle is 2024. The FOBs look identical
How many extra key fobs can be set up ?
You can have up to 4 total
hi, i have Fusion Hybrid from 2019 and 2 original keys. bought 3rd from Aliexpress and try programming . i have the same info about sucsessfull programing 3rd key but when i push buttons on the key car dont do enything //sorry for my eng. ;)
have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob?
@@PYR-Auto no, not jet but i will try. 902 or 315 MHz - what you think?
not sure but they use a CR2450 battery
What about if I have One smart programing only
You will need an Automotive Locksmith or Dealership
I tried this on a 2022 Ford Expedition and it didn't work, is the 2022 different?
I'd like to know the answer to this as well
Yes - unfortunately they took away the onboard programming for 2022. You will need a locksmith or dealership
It worked for me. 1 ding turn off change key 1 ding turn off change key 1 ding new key boom all good. There are 3 different part #s for 22 expedition smart keys that I see.
Interesting - the information from Ford shows that it can't be done onboard but that's good to know, thanks
This is a good video, but this does NOT work for a 2022 SuperDuty, despite having identical key fobs.
When the last key fob is inserted into the "backup slot", the response from the truck is the same as the previous 2 key fobs (i.e "Press brake to start" - probably because it recognizes the other 2 legit keyfobs are inside the truck).
Doesn't work.
lol why make it so elusive put the key in hole count to 10 stand on one leg lol do 3 laps around vehicle, wink left eye. who am I kidding I got one those cars too
So my Dodge Nitro was kicking in anti-theft randomly and shutting down my SUV while at stop lights. Went online in a similar fashion to this CZcams expert and was told to hold my Fob in my right hand and circle the SUV 3 times clockwise beginning at the driver's door. My brother laughed when I told him and said someone was feeding me voodoo BS and getting a good laugh at my expense. Well it worked, reset the system and no more shutdowns. Trust the experts! Cars are so high-tech now sometimes what seems like a a simple solution works.
