  • Veganism has become a new trend in Korea nowadays and many are starting to adopt veganism as their lifestyle.
    We had a chance to talk with one part time vegan who is participating in the meat-free movement. Also, from the owner of a popular vegan cafe in Seoul we learned that the vegan industry in Korea is expanding with more and more customers visiting her store. We did not forget to try their vegan desserts!
    I hope our video was helpful to many viewers who were curious about veganism in Korea. If you liked our video don’t forget to press like and share your thoughts about this type of lifestyle. Thank you!

    Yes, it is true that many Koreans are obsessed with fried chicken and samgyeopsal, but on the other side, a lot of traditional korean dishes like bibimbap or japchae are naturally vegan or can easily be veganized!

    I thought in Korea didn't have, or almost didn't have Korean native vegans. I thought that if have, they would be foreigners. Korea is one of the countries in which the most products of animal origin are consumed, be it for food (mainly), fashion, or for beauty products. And it seems like, nobody cares! I am sad and disappointed at the same time, to see so many Korean Kpop idols that I love, no vegan, publicly at least. And many of them eat meat, cheese, milk, eggs, all the time, in all the media programs. Like, they never stop! It's complicated, but what matters is the animals, who are suffering much more than any human being or country trying to become vegan. I hope that this will soon grow in the world. It is not possible for someone in their right mind, knowing what is happening with animals in industries and who has already watched videos of these animals being tortured and killed, agree with that. People need to wake up from their deep sleeps of ignorance and give their idiotic palates more priority than the basic principles of respect and love for other types of animals. People think that without eating animals and their by-products, there will be nothing tasty to eat and live this way. I speak because my country, Brazil, kills 1 ox, 2 pigs, and 192 chickens per second, according to the IBGE. Be vegan for God's sake! These animals are pleading! Have character! Have respect! Have love

    That's so cool. Seeing veganism spreading in Korea makes me happy! I got hooked on k-pop and Korean pop culture recently and I noticed how idols and celebrities are always promoting meat-based dishes in variety shows, but I understand the motives behind it. From what I understand though, most traditional meals in Korea and other Southeast Asia regions are actually plant-based or very easy to veganize.
    Going vegan might be difficult initially due to cultural or social factors (taste buds adapt so fast), but everything worth in life doesn't come quite easily and takes extra effort. For me, I was just scared of not getting enough protein because I love bodybuilding but I was so brainwashed by the supplement industry (which was so dumb because I ended up improving my game A LOT). You don't have to turn vegan overnight, you can take baby steps while you learn and adapt your lifestyle. It's all about informing yourself, gaining experience, and constant improvement. Going vegan is transformative in so many aspects beyond health and you can't realize how empowering it is until you do it yourself. It was definitely the best decision I've ever made in my life!

    Thanks for talking about veganism !!!! However, vegan is not a type of vegetarian. Vegetarian is a diet, while veganism is a lifestyle that exclude animal exploitation as practical as possible, a moral stand that animals are not for human to be used. In addition to what you mentioned , vegans don't buy fur ,wool products , vegan also dont go to zoo , ride animals on trips, etc basically is a huge stand on animal rights. There are people who claimed themselves to be vegan for health or environment and also wont eat dairy and egg like vegans. They are somehow misuse the word "vegan" because as long as they pay for industry like the leather , fur, zoo, etc intentionally ,they are not vegan . They are just having a plant-based diet. A "vegan diet " usually used to describe the diet practiced by vegans , not implying that veganism is a only diet or anyone eating it is a vegan". Hope this information help. Looking forward for more video about plant-based and veganism!!

    those who think that being vegan in korea is "daunting" or "scary" in any way clearly don't know shit about the full canon of korean food. I'd argue that Korea is the easiest place on earth to be a vegan and actually have incredible meals every single day. our food has always been plant-based (look at temple and monk dining as an example), and meat was not a staple part of our diet until after the 80s when Korea came out of poverty. it's a relatively new phenomenon. it just so happens that KOREAN BBQ has come into the spotlight and offered foreigners an entry into korean cuisine. I really want to dispel the idea that our cuisine revolves around meat, because it's not true. off the top of my head, I can think of over 100 vegan dishes I can make at home that are easy to make and delicious.

      What is vegan vegan? Lol you mean white people vegan? Buddhist vegan is based on spirituality as veganism is an aid on the spiritual path, and they won’t be stuffing their face with mock meats and fake versions of animals foods. More whole food plant based- and they don’t overeat as it is a form of indulgence and hedonism which is part of the western foodie culture. So much of western veganism still models itself on the standard American diet of gluttony, hedonism, overstimulation, attention seeking, and overconsumption, but the Buddhist monk veganism is based on spiritual principles of non-violence, less consumption, less identification with the physical body, moderation, simplicity, and humility. Western veganism is often plastered on CZcams in the form of influencers or celebrities parading themselves as vegan to be trendy and then a couple of weeks later they post videos on why they’re no longer vegan- again it’s mostly to seek attention. Buddhist veganism isn’t about attention- they just silently mind their own business and that’s why you don’t hear about it. But they are stable and consistent in following their principles.

      @Ivan-td7kb Před 2 lety

      @@theself5738 the mental gymnastics that you had to go through to rationalize this is staggering. If the end result is less meat being eaten and less animal suffering, do you even care about the motivation behind these vegans? Didn’t Buddhism preach against pride and ego? Also you cannot generalize all vegans the same, just like I cannot generalize all Buddhists the same or all Koreans the same or all white people the same.
