I think we’d be surprised by how much we are influenced by mass marketing/media, but also from how much we desire certain traits inherently.

My own personal speculations would put it at 30/70. With the 70% being social. And I’m not saying this as a “cope”. i do have a short philtrum as well but ive never ever thought about it as a part of 'beauty standards'.. i do understand doing something like a nosejob but overall these beauty standards can make one go crazy so i think its better to be very careful in terms what you wanna change and if you need/want something changed its wise to change it in a way when afterwards you will be able to recognize yourself in the mirror

But I always tell people to do what they think is gorgeous an pretty to themselves cause it's their body and u only live one life !!!! Live your life for you and you only!! Bravo to you for having spoken out regarding the very "overrated" lip lift!! With the "upper echelon" (I won't name names although I can) of facial plastic surgeons here in the States that are continually promoting (and FORCE FEEDING us) this procedure, have ultimately turned the idea around, and transformed an "option" to a monetary "add-on"... Shame on them, the supposed chieftains of "beauty"... In addition, these surgeons having not best informed the public that SOMETIMES (in fact), a liplift will NOT look properly balanced surrounding certain facial features is actually negligent... Oh, and by the way, a short philtrum does NOT necessitate pure and absolute aesthetic beauty in a face... Stop believing the hype and the trends! Ultimately, they may NOT serve you best!

I was wondering if you could do an opinion piece of the use of botox in sweat control and the possible side effects. I know many people have problems, especially with palm sweating that can be very inconvenient and doctors seem to be very divided in the use of botox to manage the condition - also seems to be the only thing that can be used as far as I've heard. How would it effect the feeling for an example, what products to use in tandem with it if any? In general, is it a good idea and does it really have to be injected into the palms or other regions every 3 weeks - or does it vary? Some doctors seem to just throw it as an option very casually and some seem to actively discourage their patients from trying it. It's hard to get a clear picture of how much help it could provide vs. the cost and convenience of using it to manage extreme sweating in specific areas. If not, I understand 100% but I personally think it's an uncomfortable thing to talk about and can be quite embarrassing with almost no options to reduce the amount of passive sweating that happens to some of us. I would be very interested to hear your professional opinion. Maybe even collab with a dermatologist if you have some friends that might want to chime in.

I love my cupids bow, and have a "beauty mark" right in the middle of the lateral center of my philtrum. I have considered the bull nose surgery, but would like to keep the position of the beauty mark, as well as the defined cupids bow. I am wondering if this would be a proper procedure, considering my nose. I think the closest I can describe it is the lovely Sissy Spasek (sp?).
I am into my 40s now and have had some minor modifications, and can live with what I have, but would like to feel pretty (the photo on my profile is about 7 to 10 years old, I don't know how to change it). I was also bullied as a kid for looking different...I would love to get a personal opinion from you. In the meantime, would it be possible to do a segment on outliers that deviates from the standard, but is still considered beautiful? Thank you.

I didnt know it was towards me or other ppl. She looked MORE Asian than ME being Asian look Asian. Since I died my hair brown in my 20s,,,ppl always thought I was Spanish, Latin etc. n She’s half white. But she was Always guessed as full Asian. I think it took a toll on her when she n I were same age. Over time….she just got really sad , regardless how much I was d only one helping her around when she moved into my city 4 million ppl back then. Fast forward, everyone has --Perception of things.
Like I grew up thought NOrdic ppl all loook like Chris Hamsworth, or UK ppl will look like Nicole Kidman, Justin Bieber. But i did NOT have understanding a lot ppl look like Brie Larsen, Mike Myers or Woody Allen. Just when we young we have --INaccurate perceptions.
When I first landed in Canada. White 24 yr old lady at party, will be like;”stop eating, it makes ur face bigger u r Asian.”
Or when I was dating, some dude’s mom” oh,,,,,u are so pretty but I don’t look chinese. U MUST mixed with White! U should do a DNA test, ur parents family chain might relate too whites hundreds years ago. Cuz U look pretty, but Chinese are NOT good looking in North America… u do NOT look Chinese.”
….yeah. So i can imagine those things happens to u as child cuz those ill formed words STILL Bother me to this day.
The thing is what keep me going is …those are OPINIONS , based on False PERCEPTIONS.
Just like I had a : YORKSHIRE Terrier(cute yorkie). So well behaved, no bark no bite, NO panic, no possessive. ….my friends:”I prefer big dogs, no yappy”. They get a Golden Retriver,,,,my dog was so much better behaved it puts like 90% LARGE dogs in shame. (Ppl always shocked how nice of dog it is). MY friend’s Perception of MY SMALL DOG is YAPPY , n they re like;”yeah your dog is nice i like yours but usually YORKIES r Yappy”. Still bothers me.
So i realize over time,,,those just their. Opinions. The fact i am fine, my dogs is so impressive, its enough.
So I decide to one day--CHOOSE to Be Happy. Because it Cultivates possitive mind set. D ppl’s comments are based on their OWN minimal Perception. When we still hurt,,,we give them d power. Based on u have small short cute nose…thats HUGE. Most ppl cant get that. Most White ppl cant even get it unless they have like Scotish/Irish Background. Its gem.
