    I wonder if Paul or even Tyler are conscious of how many PRS guitar sales came from watching Music Is Win intergalactic oneness... I was already very curious before but since following your channel last year I've bought an SE and then a CE! I bet tons of others bought PRS guitars partially or completely influenced by Music is Win ;)

    I guess we all have our own reasons... but I fell in love with the PRS sound and look when I first heard it. However, I didn't want to dive into the PRS pool without knowing what the company was like or if they made quality stuff. Getting to know Paul through interviews like this has made me even more of a fan because I know that he cares deeply about what he makes, and the people he makes them for. Seeing him nerd out about the tones that various neck wood or nuts make is awesome. I'm working on getting my first PRS this year and I'm happy it's coming from a good company. On the acoustic side, just read about Bob Taylor and Taylor guitars and you'll get a similar feel. Thanks for the video!

    • @Spidouz
      @Spidouz Před 6 lety

      Don't get me wrong, PRS is a big big name (and my favorite guitars, period). However, PRS is not a "huge" brand in comparison to some others such Fender, Gibson, Ibanez or even Godin now.
      For instance, in one of the last Know Your Gear video, Phil said PRS are doing 1,000 guitars / months... while Gibson do 8,000 guitars / months and Fender do 1,000 guitars / day. So yes, having 260 employees in the US, and being a brand in business for 30 years, having guitars played by some of the top guitarists out there, it's definitely a huge accomplishment... and not a small boutique numbers. But it's not a huge brand... it's more a famous one, if you know what I mean.
      PS: And personally, I don't think it's bad, because it help Paul to keep the PRS brand as a big "small company"... when companies comes "huge brand", they very often forget their true core values, becoming just greedy and don't care much for neither their employees nor their customers. I hope it makes sense...

    I had a PRS SE once and I still regret selling it to this day. It was an awesome guitar.
    It was a Mikael Akerfeldt signature and I sold it because I decided I couldn't "live" with the big O logo on it.

    Good job, Tyler. Mr. PRS seems like a good guy. Although he seems a bit challenging to interview. Sometimes he is a tad overly defensive. I guess this may be partly due to fact that he faces the realities of running a business. His guitars are wonderful as are the amps. I have owned a few and loved them all. I wish continued success to you, Paul and his business.

    Tyler/PRS, on the Whole Lotta Love riff, while Page bends that second (and fourth) note, he is also playing the open D string underneath it, so there is a slight chorusing with the detune of the bend on that note. Learned that from a recorded interview with him on TV years ago. I wish I could remember the show it was on to look up the archive.

    Honestly there's a reason why prs is so good they are just like Gibson back in the 50s-70s they honestly care about quality unlike Gibson nowadays were quality control is garbage compared to prs and I'm not gonna take away their glory by saying they are the new Gibson cause they are not they are prs and that's why people buy it.

      @francescocagnacci Před 6 lety

    • @orlock20
      @orlock20 Před 6 lety

      The burst was due to Gibson guitars getting faded while sitting in the store windows and the sun shining on them. The '59 Les Paul was originally a failure which is why there are so few originals. PRS's core is quality control and pretty guitars first. Gibson guitars come in like 5 colors and if one wants a colorful Fender guitar, it has to come out of the Mexican factory. Now other companies are trying to mimic PRS over Gibson and Fender. More guitars are coming in those pretty colors with a setup right out of the box.

    I imported one of the PRS SE Custom 24 guitars with the maple fret-board, and I just love it! That said, I'd sure love to see PRS do the full-figured tops on some of their cheaper guitars. It's no longer a "special" thing to have such a carved top, considering that some of the cheapest brands on the market have a similar look. Why make your $1000+ guitars look WORSE just for model differentiation and delineation when a $200 Harley Benton looks BETTER than those models?

    Just saw another guitarist point out the fact that sometimes it's harder to play with distortion than without...so playing "clean" all the time doesn't translate to better playing when distorted. I can vouch for that. Poor muting technique is especially highlighted when distortion is on.

      No answer from either Tyler or Paul? What's up Tyler? I bought the complete studio recording one. I guess I'll have to send Tyler a personal note to find out. Or maybe ask PRS if I can figure out how to?

      You want a 12" speaker with 92Db rating or better and with a solid state amp, use a distortion pedal (not an overdrive pedal because there is nothing to overdrive) for the distortion.

      MusikMusik Egnater Tweaker 15 head. Set it on hot and put the gain up. Try the middle setting vox n u won’t need a pedal. If u want clean there’s a fender switch lower the gain and the hot input. There’s a Marshall switch too. Lots of options, reasonably priced. Lunchbox size. Get maybe a line6 cabinet 12 inch speaker. It sounds great they’re not a lot either. That tweaker and can us$ comes to about $6-800. Less if u buy used. FYI Bogner designed the line6 cabinet.
