    Positives:
    After Cardiff game most would agree to take 4 points from next two games which we did only the blues way, 3 off Cov and draw to Roth. I still can see us staying up with another 4 points, draw to Hudds, beat Norwich infront of full house! Currently two clean sheets another positive! KRO

    League One is a graveyard of former top-tier teams although you'd hope we'd be in a better financial position to fight out. It would hit broadcasting revenue substantially and maybe match day receipts. Plus as we've said I think we could lose or have to loan away a bunch of our best players. It clearly would hurt and it would mean spending the summer building a championship-pushing team, not a Premier League pushing side which would mean we'd end up re-building all over again once back up.

    • @stephen3511
      @stephen3511 Před 2 měsíci +6

      Agree with that, but (apart from a few), I’ll be glad to see these players never wear a Blues shirt again.

    • @philspilsbury66
      @philspilsbury66 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@stephen3511 Sadly I think it's the ones we'd like to keep will be the ones who end up leaving. Well IF it happens and we are not quite sunk yet then hopefully with the players we have decent contracts with we can perhaps loan them out for a season and get them back the next assuming we can bounce back in one attempt.

  • @stephen3511
    @stephen3511 Před 2 měsíci +9

    Numerous reasons why we’re in the bottom three: Multiple managerial changes, several players out of contract who know they’re not here next year, poor recruitment and loans (Sanderson. Laird, Prichard, Roberts, Burke, etc).
    Only Stansfield, Bielik and Miyoshi can come out of this season with any credit.

    To pin point the biggest reason we’re done for (because we are) was the terminal decision to sack Eustace for what was a purely commercial reason. The playing side of things should never be conflated with the commercial side. Huge, huge error of judgment and still baffling to me!

    • @2002ChrisK
      @2002ChrisK Před 2 měsíci +1

      Spot on! I'm pretty sure that our new owners thought that John Eustace wasn't a well known name, particularly in the USA. So why not get him out to the USA to raise his profile at every available opportunity and get someone in like Rooney with a fancy job title to do nothing other than to be associated with BCFC?

    • @philspilsbury66

      @@2002ChrisK Mowbray won't be known in USA too. It smells more like a falling out of approach when the new owners came in between them and Eustace. We will never know for sure.

    • @royalblue5758
      @royalblue5758 Před 2 měsíci

      I can't agree. The very best reason to make the change was commercial. The game has always been about money and the stats show that the teams that win promotion have a four times greater chance of doing so with the highest income. More money means better players which equals better chances of success. The board was absolutely right in our position to try and improve income as they did. That it did come off is another thing. The decision to try and completely change the style of play was the problem and the lessons of Zola had been forgotten. We paid the price and might yet lose our Championship status as a result. Rooney had done a solid job at Derby in difficult circumstances and I don't think anyone could have predicted how wrong it would go and so quickly. Our position in the table at the time of Eustace's sacking was false in my opinion but it is a convenient stick to use to make a point.

    • @philspilsbury66
      @philspilsbury66 Před 2 měsíci

      @@royalblue5758 Not convinced. Did Derby's income fly when Rooney was appointed? I'm not sure where the correlation is with specific revenue growth. The words Cook used at the time said it all that the clubs and Eustaces vision were not aligned.

    • @royalblue5758
      @royalblue5758 Před 2 měsíci

      @@philspilsbury66 No it did not but the two situations are not the same. In three months there was no specific correlation in specific revenue growth because there was not the time to achieve that. But the potential was there. You only have to look at the media attention Rooney's appointment and even more so, his sacking attracted. Sadly most of that was negative because he did not deliver on the pitch. The higher profile of the club, had it been positive, would have meant selling advertising, sponsorship and corporate packages much more profitable for the club. We have to generate the funds to spend on players. The owners cannot put money directly in the club ( which does not apply in League One ). I get entirely what they were trying to do, but of course as we know it all blew up in our faces because of the results on the pitch. The football was not great under Eustace and you only have to look at that long poor run we had last season to see that. Both Plymouth and WBA were far better than us at St A's but we managed the luck to win. We took only 2 points from 15 in September until the poor Huddersfield showed up and we mugged Albion.
      The evidence is that teams who play more possession based football do consistently better on average than those that do not. Trying to improve us on the pitch and increase our profile were absolutely the right things to try and do. It did not work out but that happens sometimes. The new owners have not come here to keep us doing what we have been doing for the last ten years but to try and improve things. That involves taking risks which sometimes don't work out as planned.

    If we go into league one I have every confidence that our owners will ensure we have a squad capable of getting us out in short order. It won't be the end of the world, it will just feel like it. We can't have any complaints if the worst happens and we are relegated. We have been consistently poor and the league tablet does not lie. We are not down yet and there is still hope. KRO.

    Sorry Mr Rowett but you had a winning team and winning performance against Coventry, so why change everything? If you can thrash Coventry, you can beat the worst team in the division, but no, football managers always have to do things to pretend they are some sort of genius. Stupid decision to play Burke, and that's not hindsight, that is called common sense. If we go down, you can look in the mirror and say, I helped that to happen.

    How have we not even tried junior Dixon given we have struggled for goals and he is confident and banging them in.? Your saying 6 managers this season who are more qualified than us have decided not to yet they have all failed in their jobs so maybe not putting Dixon in was the mistake. Using the analogy Dixon isn't ready means that scott hogan, ollie Burke Tyler Roberts are more than qualified yet they arnt scoring and therefore failing in their job. You don't know until you try and now it's too late. Remember AJ if your good enough your old enough. Rowett is to negative and even if we miraculously stay up, which we won't now roweet needs to go and we need a enthusiastic forward thinking manager who plays attacking football
