- Exploring an abandoned house by the railroad tracks in the Mojave Desert. Lots of personal effects left behind, indicating that the previous occupants were a manwho dreamt of prospecting for gold in Alaska, a woman who dreamt of Victorian England, and a little girl. Spooky, haunting...and kinda sad. What happened to these people??
I'm a new subscriber and have been binge watching your video works.. I totally agree with those who applauded your beautiful singing. It immediately took me back to 1956, then 9 yrs old, growing up poor in rural Wisconsin. Gogi Grant stuck in my memory ever since. I would play this 78 rpm record along with "Suddenly There's a Valley" over and over. They were somehow very comforting. Anyway, your singing was so authentic and you did both lyrics and melody verbatim, spontaneously! Who else could do that? You are so amazing! Especially since you're still such a young babe.
Enjoy your YT videos. So entertaining, informative and well done. Like a one-woman historical society. I really hope this all evolves into a lucrative, rewarding career path.
I would give you a thumbs up just for the singing.
Thanks Hussy you sounded great!
+Robert Serr thanks!!
Sarah Jane you do sing very well
WOW!! GREAT VOICE,, A blast from the past. Classic song for western musicals. Stay with it, you have another direction for your future. You really do your homework on locations to explore. Thank you for singing and sharing....
Nice singing Wonder Hussy!
+Kenneth Greene thanks!
You a beautiful singing voice. Great video. Wish people quit vandalizing things.
+Mark Taniguchi I know... me too :(
Very nice voice Sarah. Thanks for the exploring trip. The Mojave Desert is filled with old run down places like that. The tank is up in the air so that there would be water pressure to the house without the need of a pump.
the Houston area was full of old run down places like that back in the early 80's. Today though almost as soon as a place is abandoned it's torn down. New laws.
ahhhhhhh thanks! Interesting!
You have a very pleasant voice, very talented to say the least.
Thank you. You have a great voice. I remember thson. It was oppular in at 1955. It got a lot of radio play...I rememberied it driving west with my parents and brother as a wild eye six year old on our way to California. Blessings to you! xo!!
Wow,, what a beautiful singing voice you have. x
damn she can sing to wow
+michael haiden loosely speaking lol
Your voice is very nice; classic and reminds me of some of the best jazz big band vocalists.. my mom was a jazz vocalist, so I know..
DVincentW -come on..lol
Yes I am a third generation musician. My Grandfather played jazz in DC also. Is there a problem with my comment? If so, where would the power come from you supposedly have to judge me?
DVincentW are you in the right room I looked for any negatively statement and saw none
This is one of your best videos, because of 'The Wayward Wind' song ,& your wonderful knack for coming up with these imaginative stories of what might happened in these places , it is endlessly entertaining and hilarious . YOU ROCK ON !!! Bob.G
Keep wondering around and singing! That was a beautiful surprise! Great story again too...loving that as well. Hugs, Amy
+Amy Tyrrell-Sutherland thank you Amy!!
@@Wonderhussy Where did you get that Organ music, it's great.
Sara,
Your singing made me think of the old-time Westerns I would watch as a kid.
Great Memories! Thanks!
I love your bumper music, also I really like your narration style! Thanks for your hard work!
Amazing how fast houses deteriorate after they are abandoned.
Awesome investigative work! Made the exploration 100 times better.
+Robb Cobb hahaha thanks!!
I love these kind of exploration videos anyway but you add so much to every video you do. Now we find out you can sing as well, amazing! Keep these awesome videos coming :)
+Nigel thank you!!
Excellent singing of the 1956 classic by Gogi Grant 'The Wayward Wind', you rock! Thanx , Bob.G
As always, great video, I love ur footage and style :)
Neat spot and shivers when you sing! Did you go into the building by the 'corral'?
Need to see what you are wearing and more of that flawless skin!
+Gord Baker thank you! I did check out inside that building, it was empty except for a rolling office chair. I edited it out because it was boring
The original artist on "The Wayward Wind" was Gogi Grant. Wow! you have a great voice.
thanks! Love Gogi Grant!
Also, Patsy Cline in 1963! Enjoyed your singing!
This was a great find. This is one of my most favorite videos of yours. I can totally day dream about who and how that family lived. Incredible!
And my God you can Sing!!!! You should sing more for your channel.
+Natashaa Rea thank you!! I liked this house too because it wasn't so overwhelmingly full of stuff I was able to really focus and paint a picture of who lived there
Another cool tour, thanks! Nice singing too!
Hi wonder hussy! Love your videos. I watch them all because you take me places and my girlfriend isn't into doing cool fun stuff. Thanks for the videos
One of my favorite songs and you did it proud!
Enjoying your videos the same way I enjoy your other ones with walks and more. Keep them coming
Beautiful voice!
Thank you for appreciating the overlooked. I have the same drive, although mine is done in Massachusetts, we have some extremely old sites.
+Gary Burt awww we are kindred spirits
You have a very pleasant narrating voice, so it should be no surprise that you have a very beautiful singing voice. I was still blown away by the pipes. Very nice!
You have the natural gift of voice!!
Great job Wonder, I found this for you: "Published 7 times per year, Victoria is a women’s lifestyle magazine designed to nourish the feminine soul. Created for all who love heritage linens, charming homes, gracious gardens, unique decorative touches, traveling the world, and all that is beautiful in life."
+Glenn Davis awwww!
you heard that song on an old time record a long time ago ONCE, and you remembered that much?....not only are you gifted with your beautiful voice, but your memory is damn good as well, do you ever sing like as a gig?..........every time you sing a song that i know, i sing it with you, i really liked that video when you sang several songs, i think you were in wyoming treasure hunting with sis, i had a good time singing with you on that one....played it a few times!
Great find! I'm also fascinated with abandoned houses out in the desert. I always have the same thoughts. What happened that caused them to leave and when did it happen. The common denominator is that almost all of these abandoned places have furniture, beds, clothing, etc left behind. Why is that? I would never have thought that this place could have still been occupied as recently as 2005 but it's hard to tell because a place can get trashed and run down fairly quickly when unoccupied. It's always possible that squatters could have moved in long after the original owners left.
Wonderhussy, please go explore the abandoned Dunmovin, CA ruins along Hwy 395. It's one of the best with a number of houses, cabins and a cafe. I have been there 3 times and spent several hours looking around. My best guess on that one is abandoned since around 1990. I also found a picture of the place taken in the 1950's when it was a thriving business so that made it interesting as well.
Also you are a good singer!
+Larry Thomas thank you! I have heard of Dunmovin and it sounds really interesting... Maybe I can get out that way this summer
Loved your singing, and the song. But all and all the cabin had a get set up, and land to go with it.
Wow, She not only looks good, she can sing too.
I know I might be ringing the bell again but you have a really nice voice, very impressive! Interesting design and colors, good work as usual! I found it a bit comical that even way out in the desert there's an old abandoned AOL install CD :)
you can ring my bell ANYtime! thanks!
Another great video !
thank you!
came across your site by chance today. i like watching your site. i hate when they put music in the back ground. you keep it interesting. thanks for it & doing it your on way.
+Cindy Miller thanks for the feedback!
Cool vid wh, nice pipes too!
you have a beautiful voice, I enjoy all your videos, keep up the good work.
+Kevin Blough thank you friend!
THAT was a great song! I was happy until you went in that house! What a rollercoaster!! 🎃
I need to check out the Mojave preserve. Looks like a lot of cool adventures to drag my family on.
it;s a WONDERFUL place!!!!
Seems like Explore with Us checked out this place also. You also sing good.
Wow, nice set of pipes girl!!! I recognized the song right away. I found this house on Google Earth (I followed the tracks from Nipton) and I did a time lapse image scan dating back to 1994. I know you found more recent dates on the magazines but according to Google Earth it's been abandoned since at least 1994. Out of the 7 time lapse images I viewed not one of them showed a vehicle parked in the area. I'm wondering if once upon a time there might have been a train station where that giant concrete slab is right next to the tracks west of the house. If so then the house was probably the living quarters for whoever managed the station. Also, Google Earth mentions something about "Trailer Trash". To the east of the house appears to be another empty lot. I'm think they had trailers there for the regular employees of the train station.
+GW Hunter right on!!
.....Like your smile..... Love your style......!!
Haven't heard that tune for years. And, she sang it so well, too.
+Paul Hoffman an oldie but a goodie for sure!
No need to apologize, Girl, that was a fine rendition.
Gogi Grant, passed away last year in March at the age of 91! I like your version better than the original. Keep singing, your voice is enchanting, as are you.
+Edward Mclaughlin oh no! I didn't know she just passed away... Rip Gogi Grant
Cool video, and hey!! you have a beautiful singing voice.
Your portfolio of skills keeps growing. Will singing be a regular part of your videos from no on??
+Andrew Pettola I don't think enough people enjoyed it that much LOL but thank you :-)
Great video. Thanks.
Sarah you are an amazing singer! I looooove your singing. Make more of that.
+Nicki LovesDogs thank you Nicki!!
I love your videos! You have kept me slightly sane during the craziness of my mother's I'll health and passing a week ago. I now have to go into what I would call the big family secret. My mom was a hoarder who left her mortgaged house to me. We need to go in and evidently look for 1 or 2 precious items for lived ones. I need to clean it out asap but my sister locked me out. Anyway, I want to video the treasure hunt. Is this a good idea, stupid or crazy or what? Someone tell me if it's a good idea. Thanks WH, once again making me smile through some really rough times! Love your spirit!
+NUNNA URBIZNEZ oh, wow.... sounds like you have your work cut out for you! Shooting the treasure hunt would be fun, but it might be painful for those loved ones left behind. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do!
Interesting indeed Wonderhussy! Who and why?
Guess we will never know. I enjoyed your video and really you have a half way decent singing voice.Be careful and be safe Wonderhussy?
BTW, was that your new car ,that 4 door white wagon? I know you wrre looking for a different car
Wonder Hussy your voice is beautiful ! Thanks for another great video.
+Michael Parker thank you!
Hey there Wonder Hussey! I've been missing out on your videos for a while, letting stupid shit keep me busy, and then I got sick and didn't feel like doing anything. Sitting at urgent care. That's entertaining.
Anyway, I don't recognize the song but the pipes sound great. Your style and natural voice could reproduce those strong ballads from the films of the 1950's. You know the type... back when they had very little studio help to sound better like they do today? They just had to knock it out, sometimes within only a couple takes. Yeah you could do that stuff.
Cool find-- interesting house and details that far away as usual, and I always like those crispy old magazines too.
I still didn't fix my ride that I prefer for excursions like yours, but I haven't given up. Money is needed in too many other areas. Eventually I'll get back to exploring, hopefully before it's 120 degrees.
Thanks for the entertainment as usual.
+abbeykroeter thank you for your kind words! I hope everything goes well for you
I love when these videos are recommended to me, I love abandoned places 👍👍
+bam Steiner yay, me too!
awesomeness!!!! 👍
I love your singing! I thought of Patsy Cline. The story this video told seemed sad to me. I hope the people who lived there went on to better things.
Love your lonely shack by the railroad track intro song!
Gogi Grant is the woman who sang that song. I think of it anytime the wind blows. You have a lovely singing voice.
+Barbara Ann thank you! RIP Gogi Grant
Slowly...very slowly, I'm making my way through your extensive stack of videos(8-). So I punched the go button on
this one and...here you are singing a song Crystal Gayle sang many moons ago...and doing a fine job of it too(8-).
You've heard of Crystal Gayle, no doubt. Gorgeous lass, beautiful voice, hair nearly reached the floor(8-). Well, okay,
she might have done a smidge better singin' that song...but she cheated...she practiced a lot(8-).
Thanks, Darlin', enjoyed the singing as much as the rest of the video.
Wow! You can sing! I sing that song all the time myself!
+Gary Hall no way!!!
Way! I was a kid in the '50s and it was on the radio a lot, I think Gogi Grant recorded it and maybe Tex Ritter. I grew up with it as my theme song and I've been everywhere (even lived in Vegas in the '70's and spelunked the old mines in NV, CA and AZ looking for turquoise). "Drifting Along With The Tumblin' Tumbleweeds" was also on my playlist as a kid.
Great singing, need some more!
Thankyou so much for the insight, I've always wanted to take that route. How good was the dirt road? Looks like you can go all the way to the 40fwy. Keep trucking!!!
not sure if you could go all that way...we only went a few miles past the RR tracks! It was fine as far as there....
Really Really great video,Great singing,You should be singing at one of the vegas casinos,Was that a police truck parked over there at the house?
+David Rogowski actually no, that was my friend's truck... He does search and rescue
Wow Wonder Hussy, you are a woman of many talents.
That's pretty good girl. Sing us a few more when you can.
Well, I've been watching your trips for a long time, but, I just recently ran across this one I must have missed, I agree you've got a good singing voice........................
Beauty, Brains & a great singing voice !!!
+Phillip S. English thank you!!
your talent amazes me.
so talented. not only can you sing, but you can remember the lines. These days I can barely remember my middle name. lol.
As many have commented lovely singing voice! The cabin / house makes you wonder like the pallet for a door why bother and wonder why the lady of the house would leave all her shoes behind? Must have been a lonely life in the middle of nowhere
+gary cooper thank you! Yeah that pallet really didn't provide much in the way of privacy anyways LOL
Great singing! Nice voice!
WOW,Awesome Voice!Great job!ty73s
Great singing! So how far did you make it on American Idol? And where's the video?
you are a great ambassador to the places you visit maybe they should pay you or at least give you some perks I never knew that place was worth stopping by
I should hit them up for a free shirt at least! LOL
Wonder Hussy indeed I know soon after your appearance they get a influx of visitors and they don't why wonder hussy was here
that is a fairly nice railroad shack. my father's aunt lived in a one room railroad "shack" with a cold water faucet, outhose out back, and tar paper walls.
Wow Your a Good Singer !!
Perfect photoshoot location :)

Hey Wonder Hussy, you know women can he skilled wood crafter's as well. & their lives out there was so isolated maybe they're living in Alaska Now! & skills like crafting & woodwork is extremely helpful in Alaska! Since I came across your videos, I am really interested in exploring like you do. By the way You are a very good singer. Did you ever sing professional?
+Diane Obrocki thank you!! I have never sung professionally, just for fun :)
Loved the video .I can guess who lived their the way the house was built itself ,I know 2 well how drafty that [lace must of been, my little apt #nakedcity is made out of cinder blocks, cold and drafty i the winter, hotter than hadies in the summer . as always stay safe in all you do
Love your voice and your videos thanks for wandering Hussy lol
Where do I start. First off, when I heard you start to sing, I cringed, but then your voice took on a natural sound and hey girl, you've got some pipes going on. I used to teach music, and believe that with some training, you'd do well in the music business. Nicely done. Now on to the house, it was more than likely a Section House for the RR. They scattered them along the tracks for their track workers to live in so they could check and fix the tracks. You or someone mentioned another lot for trailers. That makes me think that a Section Gang lived out there. They had their families with them more often than not. I've read stories about people who lived in boxcars parked on sidings who were part of section gangs, way back in the early days of railroading. So my guess would be a section gang house for the foreman of the gang who lived there with his family. That siding where you started the video kind of sealed the deal. It connected to the mainline so the gang could get their speeders and work trucks onto the mainline. Sorry for the book here, but I thought that you'd like to know.
+Gregory Stevens ahhhhhhh, interesting! Thank you for the info and kind words
The Soothing Sounds of the Wonder Hussy... Great Singing Voice,,, I think Simon was Very Cruel to You on Your Audition... Your commentary and the way You tell a Story on Your observations is Outa Sight,,, "Stay Safe"...!!!!!

Lord have mercy you need to give up doing videos and get a recording contract. You have a dynamite personality and a beautiful voice. Go Girl!!
You've got a few good talents that now include singing. The song is, "The Wayward Wind" by Patsy Cline. Got a great memory on the lyrics.
+Jake0007 thank you! for some reason i love that song
Yes nice singing!!
+Michael Sidusky thank you!
Good video :) Good singing too :)

Welcome :)
You need to give directions as to where these places are. I live in Vegas and want to drive down and see them!
Late spring and early summer is a great time to explore the desert.
Ricardo Aschle urban explorer's dont give the location to the public bc then ppl go steal or destroy the place. come on think now 🤔
Your just too damn awesome kiddo!!
Sweet!
