I come back to this one over and over again. When i get that good i'll stop. Like he plays perfect so effortlessly. He is free on that thing. I would say he mastered the instrument. Imagine when he is 60. Whew.
Dexterity is a young mans game. Even in my 30s i feel the sharpness fading. I've seen my father change from a man my age to an OAP. At a point you fail to be capable of implimenting the knowledge you've gathered with age. That's when he should start teaching and try to find a protégé to stand on his shoulders and take it another step.
Isn't it funny how once in a while, something pops into your feed that blows your mind? This did! This reminds me of one of my favorite artists, Pat Metheny. Please keep posting
You-are-unbelievable 🤯😵 Seriously, Josh, what’s the plan sir? You must record more, but you have to get on a label or hook up with Sylvain Luc and Antoine Boyer. Haha. You’ll have to learn to speak French :) I’m suuuuuper excited for your future, and that I found you with 325 views!!! Mind blown permanently. I’ll support everything you do.
I listened to an interview you did yesterday and then checked out your music today. Very impressed dude. Lovely musical content and some very technical runs. You have another fan. Thanks for the share.
Dayum! That's nice! I'm gonna have to study this vid for a while. Love the sound. I use a 1983 Ibanez AM205 w/ reverb and a little delay also. Maybe my pedals aren't as nice as yours because my playing doesn't sound like you. Hmm... Is that an AS or AM Ibby? And why the heck are you not super famous? Thanks, man!
Josh and tj whitlaw and isaiah sharkey and justus west and beau diackowicz and tosin abasi and thundercat and his evil genius white guy who always looks tired keyboardist and miles from cassowary and goddamn aaron gillespie from underoath need to make that supergroup in my head
It's really beautiful guitar work but the thing I notice with younger musicians, especially at the virtuosic level that he's playing on, is a real disconnection between the lyrics and the story of that song and what he's doing? It's not a mechanical exercise. It's not really necessary to have such extended tension and release sequences with really extended harmonic process. If you listen to Bill Evans playing piano or Keith Jarrett or Ted Greene, the story is the first and primary thing which is essentially the main melody and the essential harmonic structure of this song. There's so much embellishment and harmonic extension that it's hard to hear the actual power of the song as it was written. I think Josh is an incredible guitar player with a lot of chops and an amazing approach to the instrument and maybe there's a component of not really having a connection to the stories, that a lot of these jazz standards tell, that make it sound more like a mechanical exercise than a piece of music that tells a great story. I would love to hear him do a version of this where it's just a song and some embellishment that is recognizable as a song. Not really a criticism per se, because I have a lot of respect for moving forward with jazz repertoire and innovation, but in this particular case I can't really hear the song very well because it's Just too covered by all the other stuff that's going on. And I'm not saying that I don't like complication or harmonic complexity or improvisation I'm just saying that it doesn't seem very connected to the story of the song of Skylark. Just my two cents…
Josh you are an incredible guitarist, glad I found you here. I will spread the word.....
Your parents and grandparents must be so proud of you. Good on you!
0:35 that pick switching fingers is amazing
Again at 1:02. He's beyond fantastic.
I always thought, that there would never be another one on par with Holdsworth. I was wrong

Wonderful! 👏 Kudos, Josh!
This maestro never ceases to amaze me on each and every tune he plays
This is ridiculous; nearly every clip of this dude is just about as jow dropping as it gets for guitar playing!
sucks doesn't it. I'm 70 yrs old, former college teacher... no slouch....can't touch this...
Exactly. The note for note jazz covers are mind boggling correct.
It's just fucked up. That's it.
Muito legal ! Show ! Obrigado por compartilhá-lo

Thanks so much David! Man Sylvain and Antoine are my heroes, hahah don't know I'd be able to do that! Cheers mate
He doesn't have to learn to speak French, I'm sure Sylvain and Antoine will understand their universal language in his playing.
@@Daantjer I am sure Josh has got some conversational Basque.

Without a single word. . . .poetry! Unreal. . . . . . .

Your right hand technique is insane!
All your videos are tasteful and skilful. Very inspiring.
This is just amazing. You deserve to be as well known as Jonathan Kreisberg!
Another best guitarist in the world.
Why aren't you up there playing with the greats!? You should be at NPR Music Tiny Desk Concerts!
Could it be that like everyone else who's stuck in Sydney, he's stuck in Sydney? (Lucky us..)
Wonderful Josh just incredible, please do more standards, just love it, do some acoustic guitar, classical guitar
Awesome
Awesome!!!....Joe Pass sounding!!!...🤙😎🤘
Lovely
I feel like I’m flying through the clouds
Nice easy legato. I like that you play hybrid without nails - at least that's how it sounds. Subscribed!
I wish you were on itunes
fire
Very nice
Josh you're modern day Joe Pass amd i love him too! 💓 Love from India! 💓
Your dad plays great rhythm. I play really melodic it's hard to find rhythm players on your dads level. Love your videos , josh Your lines are tight.
That is a sound for sore ears :)

What about some Ben Monder mister???
Keep it up, really fantastic!!!
Excellent playing, what sort of reverb and delay setting are you using sounds great.
Thanks mate! Using a Strymon Timeline for the delay and I believe a plug in in Logic X for the extra reverb, on a church Hall type setting
Ella Fitzgerald must be smiling from heaven
The playing is phenomenal, but the tone is the nost beautiful I've ever heard. What type of guitar is that, and is thete an effect on it?
It's an Ibanez Artist semi-hollowbody guitar. For effects it sounds like delay and reverb with modulation.
It's like Ted Greene, Lenny Breau, and Allan Holdsworth in one person. How can this be?
Love it! Is that an improv?
Nah this is an arrangement
You are the truth. Emigrate from Down Under, nephew.
tabs? ,,kidding ..fcuking awesome dude

what amp do you use mister?
It doesn't get any better than this. I just polished my guitar with gasoline.
What is the full name of that guitar?
Tutorial please 😭😭😭
How old are you currently guitar god ?
He would've been 21 in this video
Too bad there is no button for 1000 likes.
