Keys Material You are kidding right? He changed the team around and got them to the NFC championship game with CASE KEENUM!!!! And no Dalvin Cook of course. You dont just fire a coach because they didnt go all the way especially with 2 key starting players out due to injuries. You can talk about Foles all you want but it is beyond clear that Foles was never meant to be just a backup...that dude is starting material who was probably on shitty teams his whole career until this season. I dont even want to hear "Foles" and "backup" in the same sentence after what he has proven he is capable of. Even as a backup it is clear he should be starting. Like Garappalo, Brady, and Rogers...(all backups at one point but obviously starter capability.) Only thing Keenum showed is he is a good game manager and chokes in big games. Did I expect him to win the game by himself? No...but you need to do more than score 1 TD and throw pick 6's in the biggest game of your career.
The sound of the crowd is incredible. You can hear the awe in their cheers when they see Randy run. He was a cheat code athletically early on. Mix that with a fantastic football feel and ridiculous hands you get the most dominant WR to ever do it. He changed football forever.
This is seriously the most impressive performance of a wideout in history. Think of it this way, yes there have been some amazing performances by Rice, Owens, Reed, Johnson, etc but if this was boxing, this would be like the heavywieght champion came out every fight and just 1 punched KO'd everyone. Much more impressive then lasting 7 rounds before a KO. Just the best.
That was absolutely absurd. Love to see a sport science on the angles those 2 defenders had on Randy yet STILL got burnt. Idk if I've ever seen someone in that good of position just get blown by like that.

3:32 I’ve seen that play many times and still watch in complete awe at the superhuman speed displayed there. Not even a Vikings fan, but there was no one better than Randy Moss in his prime.
Just ridiculous.. Mind boggling..
4.2 speed
Yeah, it wasn't like there was blown coverage. The two safeties were ahead of him and made an angle and he just flew by both of them. Moss and Lawrence Taylor are the only players I've seen to come out of college a top 5 player in the NFL.
The performance in that game by Moss should be watched by receivers during film study at training camp.
To see how pointless their career is? Nobody can match Moss talent wise.
Been a Vikings fan since I was 10 years old , that was 48 years ago so I've seen my share of disappointments these past few decades , but at the end of the day this will be my Team until my dying day!!
Hey Anthony, right there with you. My favorite player as a kid was Joe Kapp. Peace
Some guys just had "It". Moss had it right away.
Smash and Jam that was the idea but it’s true though
he not only had it right away but madden said he was the best WR in football on this piece, in his rookie season
The 1998 Randall Cunningham will FOREVER be my GOAT in a single season
Cunningham was absolutely amazing in '98. He really deserved to win the super bowl that year.
Randy Moss, NFL Hall of Famer, respect.
Still 1 of the greatest individual performances I've seen in sports.
I hate that Moss doesn’t have a ring.
Cameron Jones he came close with the Vikings if Gary Anderson hadn’t missed that field goal too.
Cris EX not everybody gets rings. But doesn’t ruin Randy’s reputation as the greatest.
It’s pretty rad that he does tv commentary now tho. Wouldn’t have seen that coming back in the day.
Blame Eli Manning lol
Eli Manning is laughing
That Cunningham Moss connection was lethal. I was shook that year they went 15-1 as I am a Broncos fan. Falcons upset in the playoffs I was like thank you lol. That's how great they were.
You would have gotten creamed by us. I'm convinced Gary Andersons family was threatened by the mafia. No one goes perfect for an entire season then misses in that game. Staged!
Vikings vs Broncos could of been one of the best SB ever and instead it was a pretty boring game because it was the Falcons.
@@mikeharv2978 should’ve won instead you lost to a boring team
@@WheresWaldo05 The Vikings wouldn’t have stood a chance just like the Falcons didnt, the Broncos were the team that year
@@NeverSober8008 Yeah, the team the NFL picked to win.
Randall Cunningham throwing to Cris Carter and Randy Moss is the greatest passing combination the NFL has ever seen. It's too bad it didn't last longer.
Rams with the greatest show on turf
Moreso than Montana/Rice? 😅
@@TroyConvers5000 John Taylor is not close to Cris Carter. He was a very good receiver, but mostly benefited from the attention to Rice. You're obviously not understanding the topic of discussion here... 1 QB, 2 WRs... not sure why people are struggling with this.
Let's make it even more clear! No team has ever had a pair of WRs better than Randy Moss and Cris Carter in their prime... which they were at that time.
Clear enough?
John Madden's Randy Moss impersonation at 1:21 is pure gold.
Madden: " Hey Dawg just chuck it in the endzone" lol
Moss stat line was amazing. Can we also take a moment to appreciate Cunningham’s throw at :57. Dude literally made the most nonchalant 55 yard throw I’ve ever seen. Looks like he’s hardly trying.
So true...and Randall Cunningham was in his 12th season at 35 years old during this clip.
Even that flea flicker throw, that was a flat footed cannon right to Moss
As a cowboys fan I vividly remember this game. This was and is a remarkable performance by a great talent. You can't even be mad, the cowboys drafted Greg Ellis and the rest is history. Congrats on a great game and a HOF career MR.MOSS!
Jerry Jones is still kicking himself
1998 was an awesome football year. Everybody was loving Randal’s resurgence. Dude was just going for it every week
Greatest rookie season ever. Moss was a game changing freak
They would have looked the Steve Spurrier Florida Gator Teams putting up 70-80 points a game it would have been ridiculous, because no defense would be able to stop it!
Vikings were fun to watch that season. They should've gone to the superbowl instead of atl
k m if not for a missed field goal they wouldve and i.think they wouldve beat Denver honestly.. this 98 Viking team is a top 5 alltime team easily
Joshua Haynes
That missed kick was also from a All Time Great too, Gary Anderson. I was in shock when it happened
Agreed, that super bowl would have been waaaayyyyy better if it was Min vs Den. Explosive!!
k m
My favorite Vikings team/season and im a Vikings fan. It is a shame that they fell short but you are right it was very fun to watch. I was pretty young at the time so it was also my first year getting interested in football.
k m that game should have never been close. Glad that falcons beat the vikings. Players later admitted that they were actually scared of losing, something they never did before
Hearing John Madden and knowing he still had 22 good years ahead of him then, makes me glad I lived in this era of the game.
That 3rd TD was beautiful that was incredible
YAC? all of them
They did not include the best line from Madden that day, which I remember cuz I was watching that game...."Some say Randy Moss is the rookie of the year. Heck, this guy is the MVP!"
Look whos coaching on the Cowboy sideline @ 3:00. Current Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.
Shawn Herlickson it all makes sense now 😏🙂
Shawn Herlickson he need to be sat down after last night. 38-7...shit he is as good as fired.
He was There defensive coordinator..lol but dang he looked young
Keys Material
You are kidding right?
Ryan C I don't give a shit really I'm just pointing he was on their defense coaching staff
My Fav player, Randy Moss! & RIP to the LEGENDS, John Madden & Pat Summerall. Recall watching this game as an 8 year old boy
Listening to a long breakdown by John Madden was exactly what I didn’t know I needed today. Thank you. Brought back a ton of memories
The sound of the crowd is incredible. You can hear the awe in their cheers when they see Randy run.
He was a cheat code athletically early on. Mix that with a fantastic football feel and ridiculous hands you get the most dominant WR to ever do it.
He changed football forever.
And just so folks know, The Vikes were on the road, this is the HOME team you hear!! RIP Denny Green. :(
This might be the greatest receiving performance in NFL history. 👍🏾!
The Greatest.
R.I.P to Denny Green, Pat and John Madden. Randy was a beast as usual
"Just throw it as far as you can" lmfao that's gold
"angles and all those things don't mean anything against speed".
😂😂😂😂 Madden!
Randy Moss was the most talented WR ever
For now. Till Christian Watson becomes him
This was a golden age in football and we didnt even know it
Barry Sanders last year… 😢
This was my all time favorite Randy Moss game, I've always been so happy my Vikings drafted him.
I will forever be happy the Vikings agreed to the Herschal Walker trade.
That’s how I felt when we got Drew Brees
Y’all were blessed
John and Pat will always be the best to me. Thanks for the memories.
John Madden in his prime!!! Thank you John for your contribution to this football game that I love!! 👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾👍🏽👍🏽💪🏾💪🏾👊🏽👊🏽
I've rewatched that 3rd touchdown so many times over the past 23 years and I'm still amazed how he wizzed by #29 like he was standing still at 3:38
I don't care what anyone says. His 40 time was 4.17. Only Deion Sanders was faster at that point in time in nfl history.
@@WheresWaldo05 what about Darrell green
That was absolutely absurd. Love to see a sport science on the angles those 2 defenders had on Randy yet STILL got burnt. Idk if I've ever seen someone in that good of position just get blown by like that.
@Poop Jones The one at 3:14 was a 2 point conversion
He hesitated like he was going to cut back for a split second. Just long enough to freeze the defender for a sliver or daylight😂
Randy moss, the greatest ever!!! R.I.P. John madden! The greatest coach, and announcer to ever cover football. We'll miss you buddy!
This season was the year before I was born. As a lifelong die-hard Vikings fan, I would give anything to have been alive and see this team that year. Can’t imagine how heartbreaking it was to not go to the Super Bowl 💔
To hear John Madden say, "Aye dog, just chuck it in the end zone!"
Hilarious
Pat Summerall and John Madden are the greatest announcer duo in pro sports history.
you cant be serious
Agreed 💯
John Madden died today
Summerall makes Joe Buck sound like a god tier announcer... He sounds like a judge reading the most boring legal document of all time here.
I agree they where very good, had great chemistry working together.
I remember this game back in 1998 Emmitt Smith got knocked out with a concussion.!! I was like 10 that yr being Elementary hearing kid's say you got Moss!! If someone caught ball on you good old days lol
Brian Williams I'm 14 and I know how to write a better paragraph than you.
Splashiful I think you mean *type* stay in school kiddo
Splashiful I believe there should also be a comma after 14
Emmitt Smith played the entire game. He scored some 4th quarter tds.
Splashiful that is what happens when you have been out of school for a while and ain't doing it everyday you forget shit lol
Randy Moss never missed a practice nor a game. THAT'S professionalism.
He walked out on a few teams and used to walk his routs when he wasn’t getting the ball lol I remember
(Edit) whoever keeps upvoting you has never watched football 🏈 or gotta be BOTs lol
Didint he say I play when I want to?
@@magicjohnson5733 he sure did.
@SG Don’t be dumb man. He didn’t like to block… “OKAY?” lol let me guess, you rather have Hines Ward then RANDY MOSS!?! 🤣
Thats why you have a coach he respects. Jimmy was all about respect.
Randy is awesome no doubt but that commentary...priceless!!
He made those NFL corners look like Pee Wee players
