      MrBeane13 Most dangerous deep threat receiver. He didn't like to run across the middle of the field. And if we are talking pure athleticism, I'd have to say either Deon Sanders or Bo Jackson for the most freaky athlete.

    • @MrBeane13
      @MrBeane13 Před 10 lety +4

      Corry Florence There's really not a definitive way to measure who's a better athlete when it comes to guys like that, but you're right, they are some great athletes. I was just speaking my opinion on who I believe is the best pure athlete and I guess you're not really wrong if you picked someone like Bo or Deion. My reasoning for Moss is that I believe he was faster than both of them, and I know that'll spark a debate but really there's no way to tell besides the eye ball test, and also you combine that with his height and jumping ability. That's why I think he's the best athlete ever to step foot on a football field. I still stand by my statement that he's the best receiver though. I love Rice and respect what the man has accomplished, but from witnessing Moss and his abilities, there's no doubt in my mind that if he had the quarterback play that Rice had for the majority of his career, then he would have put up close to 30 touchdowns in a single season.

    • @sjohnson1688
      @sjohnson1688 Před 8 lety +11

      Josh Tufts That's everybody's ONLY point as to why they would take Rice over Moss. It's never about the numbers. A guys attitude and skill set are two different things. Look at Terrell Owens. Out of all the big plays Moss made ppl choose to pick 3 or 4 times he chose to not want to play part of a losing situation. Moss didn't like to lose so he quit on a few plays. That's just him. He didn't have HOF quarterbacks his entire career that favored him on the field. There were also more options offensively than just Randy Moss.

    • @jtuft22
      @jtuft22 Před 8 lety

      +Spanky James T.O. never quit either. Yeah he had an attitude and told everyone to give him the ball but that's because he knew what he could do. T.O. and Rice also weren't afraid to get hit and catch the ball in the middle of the field. Moss was streak streak streak every play. Moss never ran routes. Hell, I would take Boldin over Moss. That man had his face broken and came back two weeks later. I never doubted Moss's ability. He had the best hands I've ever seen from a player. His speed is insane. But once Moss lost his speed, he was an afterthought. Once Moss couldn't out run everyone, he was done. He didn't know how to run anything that wasn't a streak. That's where Moss goes down the ladder of greatest recievers. Rice was never very fast. But he was always where he needed to be because he could run every route to perfection. His timing and foot work is what made Rice still a top receiver well into his late 30s. And again, Moss quit. I would rather have a receiver who tries every play to win then someone who will stop running or just walk out of my team during games.

    everyone needs to stop comparing moss to rice. how many more seasons did rice play than moss? how many of those years did rice have an elite qb throwing him the ball? moss made every qb he ever played with look incredible because all they had to do was toss the ball aimlessly into double/triple coverage and he would catch it. (aside from his time with brady) i dont even want to hear about how the rules changed and this that and the other thing because he would have destroyed defenses in any rules package. talent is talent and you cannot hide that; and moss had way more talent than rice ever dreamed to have. the best receiver/player is one who completely revolutionizes and influences the game and that is exactly wat moss did. i understand that rice has much better stats. but those stats were made as a result of great qb's, 20 years in the nfl, and talent. moss's stats were created purely from talent and athleticism, not to mention he is a very intelligent player. also, nobody can blame moss for not getting a ring. 1998 was the year for the vikings until anderson missed the easiest field goal of his entire career in the nfc championship game. i am glad moss came out and said he is the best receiver to ever play the game because he is and he should be proud of that.

    • @Trepur349
      @Trepur349 Před 9 lety +5

      "how many of those years did rice have an elite qb throwing him the ball?"
      That's why they're comparable. Moss had the opportunity to work with Brady, easily one of the 5 greatest Quarterbacks of all time, and if Moss finished out his career with the Patriots he easily would have gotten 1 or 2 rings to show for it.
      Moss left the Patriots due to attitude problems. At the end of the day, that's what separates Rice from Moss: Jerry Rice played with better QBs because he worked better with elite QBs. Moss was good at making good QBs look great, but Rice was better at playing with the best of the best.

      Trepur349 Rice had two hof qbs for the majority of his career.
      His attitude has nothing to do with his play on the field Moss was still runnin by ppl his 12 th year in the league and Rice was just trying to hold on in yhe end and he actually got cut his last season.

    • @BlackRaneZ2
      @BlackRaneZ2 Před 9 lety +7

      Trepur349 you are right Moss would have finished his career off with a bang if he had stayed in New England, it's a real shame how he went out. Rice was a great player because he had talent and incredible work ethic. He made the qb's look as best as they ever could have looked, and vice versa. Moss just took every qb he ever had to a whole different level.
      BeefPapa statistically, Rice is the best receiver. But when it comes to pure talent and athleticism, Moss will always be number one.
      Tyrus Reed Moss was always the fastest player ripping by corners. You know what they say, when you see the hand go up, its over. He was the greatest field tilter to ever play the game.

      @BeefPapa Před 9 lety +4

      pure talent and athleticism is just speculation until the results are in. now, the results are in. they have been for a while. and he doesn't quite stack up to rice in my opinion. randall cunningham was a much better athlete than joe montana. doesn't mean he was a better football player.
      when you talk about moss' greatness you need lots of "if" conjunctions. if my grandma had a handlebar she'd be a bicycle.
      moss was very talented. i respect your opinion and i understand it's an arguable comparison. maybe the only comparison rice has. but rice was on another level.

      GTFO Jerry Rice is the GOAT. How many championships does Moss have? Rice has 4 and has been to 5 superbowls. Moss had a 15-1 Vikings and they choked. He also had a 16-0 Patriots and they choked. So you can't tell me he wasn't on good teams. Maybe it was him. He never delivered when it mattered. Rice shined in big games and he did it for 20 years. Nobody ran the slant better. He took more 10 yard passes to the house then anyone did. Jerry Rices 207 TDS (10 rushing ) to Moss' 156. T.O. was better than Moss. If Moss couldn't get open deep, he sucked. He couldn't get open deep against the Giants and so he was a none factor. Thats why the Pats couldnt score because Moss was one dimensional. At least T.O. contributed in his Eagles loss in Super Bowl. T.O. and Rice could take short, medium, or long passes to the house. But Moss is the greatest deep threat ever, but not overall receiver. You know nothing of the game by your rhetoric.

    If moss had a decent quarterback for most his career he would easily have the most touchdowns In nfl history .. when moss was in his prime all ya had to do was throw is as far as ya can throw it and he would out run everyone or out jump everyone ... them catches he made against Miami in the undefeated season is some of the most amazing catches I've ever seen just ridiculous. Moss is arguably the best receiver of alltime he is without a doubt the best deep.threat of alltime that's not even debatable ... one on one in his prime there has never been anyone who can run with randy stride for stride he's to.fast.

      rmtjr237 Moss had Brady two full seasons 2007 & 2009, Brady was injured & out for the season week one of 2008 and he only played 4 games with Brady in 2010 before being traded, Moss had 3 TD's in those 4 games. So in 36 regular season games with Brady Moss had 40 touchdowns, 2,896 yards, 15.4 ypc. Imagine if Moss played 16 seasons with Brady as Rice had 16 with 2 HOF QB’s. This is not a shot a Rice, he was an incredible football player but having 2 HOF QB’s, a genius Head Coach and playing on a dynasty type team is akin to a 20 mph blowing behind Usain Bolt.

      +Maharaja Vance right, he did wear wideout gloves which aid in catching the ball. But, that's besides the point, Rice was beyond just a good WR. He's a first ballot hall of fame inductee. Truly this is all based on perception. Rice would murder the league right now. Moss would to the same. Those two are the best I've ever seen, to deny either is foolish. I put Rice ahead because he did it against better defensive backs and with supposedly less tools than Moss had. Moss had all the gifts, didn't have the drive throughout his entire career. Rice played longer because his drive was greater, Moss decided to hang up the cleats because he had lost the drive to play.

      Rice did that shit ALL THE TIME, it was practically his trade mark. He would take 5 yards slants to the house on the regular. YAC started getting tracked BECAUSE of Jerry Rice.
      The only Moss could do that Rice couldn't is jump up and catch the ball over 2 other guys in double coverage. Moss's height and vertical leap allowed him to do that. But by the same token Rice never HAD to jump up and catch the ball over guys because he always roasted his defenders with his immaculate routes. There is a REASON he was open all the time.

      @@xaviervega468 Rice used stickem after LEADING THE NFL IN DROPS as a rookie (something Moss never did), he was a cheater and that disqualifies him from this conversation. Half your job is catching the football, and if you are using a BANNED SUBSTANCE to do said vocation, then you are a CHEATER by the definition of the word. And ANY WR that would STOOP to using STICKEM and then admit it, is not worthy of being the GOAT WR. The mythology of Rice is ludicrous. Dude was great but not Moss. Sorry. Moss was better and didn't have to CHEAT using STICKEM (which is STILL banned by the NFL even decades later).

    • @FreewayBrent
      @FreewayBrent Před 9 lety +2

      Akash Mehta: Some of that also has to do with the fact that defenses weren't allowed to play Moss the way they could play Rice...defensive backs weren't restricted back in Rice's day, the way they were by the time Moss was having his 23 touchdown season. If Moss were to come into the league today with the current rules in place and a very good QB throwing him the ball, seeing him surpass 2,000 yards wouldn't be out of the question. Same could be said for Rice.
      But yeah...based on pure talent alone, Moss is the greatest receiver to have ever played in the NFL.

    • @FreewayBrent
      @FreewayBrent Před 9 lety +1

      Nope...I didn't say George was better than Young or Montana. Sure, he was a head case at times. But, there's no denying that George had a cannon of an arm, something that neither Young or especially Montana ever possessed, and neither did Gannon...George could literally throw 60 yards down the field, without fully planting his feet, which meant he was perfect for a guy like Moss. He went 8-2 as a starter for the Vikings...and had 17 touchdown passes in a 6 game span for them that season...all sorts of highlights that season, between George and Moss..especially when they teamed up to embarrass the Bears defense, as Moss tallied up 204 yards against them.

Fans are stoked when he is on the field because they know sonmething shocking and unbelievable can happen at any time. The players who play against him, mainly D backs, are on edge because they know he can posterize them in any given moment. I'll always remember a quote from a D back (I forget who) when Randy first entered the league. He said (paraphrased), "You hear that he is fast. But you can't fathom how fast until you try to cover him and he blows by you." I also defy anyone to find a player in the history of the game with better hands than Randy Moss. Randy would sometimes catch a pass with one hand and not bring it back into his body until the defender was no longer able to knock it out of his hands. Randy Moss, CASE CLOSED.

    Moss is and always will be known as the Super freak because of his unusual talents including his height, speed, long arms, hands, and most of all, his ability to beat any cornerback and safety deep.

    Anyone can break records if you play 20 years lol ask brett Favre. Randy moss would smash his records if he played 20 seasons.

      +Joe Jones no not even close. his stats were doing down a lot toward the end, he would need to play at least 22 years

      Farve never missed a game in 20yrs ( last yr in Minnesota not included ) so it's more to it than just playing 20 yrs which we'll 19 Atlanta doesn't count

    He was past his prime when he was with the Pats. Moss was one of a kind, too fast, too tall, jumps too high, and too good. Calvin Johnson and Julio Jones are the closest to being next Moss. Even then Moss is too athletic and fast compare to the 2.
