- Celtic are the history-making eight times Treble winners! Today’s Scottish Cup final victory over Inverness Caley Thistle at Hampden has secured all three domestic trophies for the Hoops.
And the latest success sees Ange Postecoglou’s side replicate the previous achievements of Jock Stein, Martin O’Neill, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon.
Having already lifted the League Cup this season with a victory over Rangers in the final, and won the Premiership title for the second season in a row, the Hoops added the Scottish Cup with a win today (Saturday).
It’s the 41st time that Celtic have lifted the trophy, and the majority of supporters inside Hampden celebrated the victory at the final whistle.
Celtic first won the treble in 1967 under Jock Stein, as part of a historic campaign when the Glasgow Cup was also secured along with the European Cup as the Hoops became Kings of Europe with a victory over Inter Milan in Lisbon.
And Stein’s Celts followed that up with another domestic clean sweep two years later.
After that, fans had to wait 32 years to see the Hoops win all three trophies in a season, and it was Martin O’Neill who guided the club to success.
In 2017, with another Irishman at the helm now in the shape of Brendan Rodgers, Celtic won the Treble again, this time in even more emphatic form as Invincibles, having remained unbeaten domestically throughout the 2016/17 season.
And after the Invincible Treble came the Double Treble, the Treble Treble and, finally, the Quadruple Treble, with Neil Lennon helping to steer the team home in 2019 and then leading the team to another season of domestic dominance the following season.
Now Ange Postecoglou has delivered the Treble back to Paradise again, ensuring that Celtic have set a new world record of winning eight domestic Trebles.

I would have wanted him to stay at Celtic, get them deep into the UCL, before making them jump to a big club in England. It's just that Spurs do not fully back their manager and have a difficult fanbase. Lastly, they need a complete rebuild of their CM and centre-backs (and GK) before playing it his way. He really needs an Arteta-style build up.

Too late, he's long gone! We're stuck with the Snake as Lenny went awol in the shower! The Scammer Board can't stand to see us doing well and have pulled their usual stunt - I wouldn't mind if it were St. Martin O'Neill, but hiring that EPL loser who ditched us in January with half the backroom, is beyond the pale.
All these sour comments about Ange puts a dampener on the achievements. The EPL is one of the biggest leagues and biggest challenges in the world, if not the biggest. Sometimes a person just has to continually challenge themselves and unfortunately for Scotland, it’s a two team league. If your not at Celtic or Rangers you are virtually not much chance of getting trophies. He is taking the bigger challenge, yes there is more money involved, but it is 100% the much bigger challenge to turn around Spurs and find them a spot in Europe again and a trophy. He could have easily won 3 more trophies next year in Scotland and perhaps won games in Champions League, apart from CL though, his only challenge would be to keep beating Rangers. It’s boring.
Rangers came within a penalty shootout of winning the Europa League last season. Ange could have done big things in Europe with Celtic but obviously that is not appealing enough for him.
