I'm hoping if he had done it before he would have known how to get the carpet upstairs without going through the window. Tackless would have been a good idea as well.

I'd assumed that a certain daughters artistic skills had been recognised as a budding Banksy and her work was selling for millions đ Seriously though it's really good to see everyone still mucking in together and getting things done the old fashioned way. Too many people these days seem to think they are entitled to everything without having to put any work into earning it. The skills and attitudes the girls are learning every day will stand them in really good stead in the future. That pastie you ate looked really good Chad - made me peckish enough I had to go have something to eat myself. I once lived above an old pub in England and the only way to get furniture into the rooms upstairs was to take out the living room window and hoist everything up and through. No mechanical aids just good old fashioned team work.
Sometimes the old fashioned ways don't work for everyone and doing old fashioned things doesn't make people a better person. There are hard working people in many different ethical skills - on and off grid.

I agree that not everyone has the either the physical or mental abilities to do everything (I'm very limited due to age and deteriorating health) however I still say that it was nice to see the whole family working together and getting the job done themselves. I was referring to people I have actually known in my life who (with no physical or mental limitations) insist that they should be given anything they want simply because they exist.
You all definitely paid your dues off grid for a couple of years and you really deserve this new on grid home. Having worked and commuted to work the entire time I have owned my mountain acreage the biggest thing I have learned is know when to spend money. I scrounged everything I could. It takes more time to build with repurposed material (but it is immensely satisfying). I did just about everything myself, without equipment. Now I have some equipment and have hired out some jobs are realize there are times to do that and it does pay for itself in different ways. I look forward to watching you on this part of your journey and all of discoveries you get to make. Thanks for sharing.
