You don't need to turn the key to "forward" to move forward. It is just the default key position after starting. The reason it dies if you go backwards when in the "forward" is because the PTO is on (mower blades) as they see this as a safety feature if you back up mowing. Children etc. could be injured. Their intent is that you be aware the blade is turning when going backward.. But the "backward" the PTO stays on and you can cut grass forward and backwards. I usually flip it to backward so I don't need to think about mowing in reverse it just does it.

Got mine last September. Did a bit of research and ended up with the same mower. I like it. When inflation hit they raised the price $400. I didn't plan to spend $3000 for a mower but I think it was worth it in this case.

Just got my new TS242XD today. Had 30 min before work so i took it out. I had two things i disliked. 1st when making sharp turns at a high speed the rear would push my front tires like i was skidding on the grass. I'll either have to slow down when turning or take a closer look this weekend why this is happening. 2nd thing was even though i like the seat it needs some springs or something. i feel every bump on this mower. still think its a good mower but Husqvarna has a few areas to improve.
Yes slow down in turns and the ride is brutal when I mow the 4 acres ... but super reliable for me 12000 hours so far no valve job yet ... standard maintenance (oil, air , spark)and 5 sets of blades so far … 😇
I was going to buy one a few weeks ago, but after reading reviews on the cut quality, I decided to go with John Deere X350. a extra 700.00 bucks ,but if your a lawn snob like me,cut quality means everything. The controls are much easier on the Husqvarna, but It came down with cut quality with me. When I emptied the bagger, there was some nice fine grass clippings They were much smaller than my old Husqvarna yth 24. thatexcel deep deck from Deere man is no joke.

If the machine has been sitting and not running, do not wipe the Oil Dip Stick, there is no need.
The Oil is sitting in the sump, wiping the stick is a waste of time, just read the oil level.
Same applies to your car engine, hasn’t been running, then simply check the Dip Stick.
No... the instructions say remove stick ... wipe ... put stick back in (do not screw in) just flush with nozzle ... remove take reading ... check your manual 😇
I just ordered this machine from Mowers Direct. I've watched several informational videos on the Husqvarna TS 242XD so I will not be over-awed and paralyzed with fear when I take it off the crate (this is my first mower ever). Sounds like I will first need to get under the machine and ensure the blades are fastened tightly to the undercarriage of the deck. I know you made this video a year ago, but can you remember anything else one should know about this mower outside of what is in the owner's manual? Thank you!
So far with almost a 1000 hours I have replaced blades ( get the same ones it came with all other variations are no good)and sharpened them, changed oil twice and air filter twice and i wash it after every mowing. Oh and and a few loose or mising bolts here and there seat and fender areas. I follow all manual maintenance and getting close to setting the valves when I do that I will make a video.

Oil i use ---- Castrol GTX High Mileage 10W-40 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil, 5 Quarts jug --- the local mower shop recommend 20w-50 castrol regular or sythetic blend but i use 10w - 40

WOW, A New Mower & It's Using Oil & or Burning Oil... BAD... Motors Then... or Maybe A Leak ???
All mowers do this unfortunately ... standards for builds I do not think are high when compared to motorcycles or street vehicles .... just the way it is 😇 but these engines run and run 2700 hours so far
my neighbor has a john deere said it did not burn oil ... i said wow ... he fired it up ... big cloud of blue smoke .... = it is just the way it is 😇
I did have a push mower by Honda ...never ever burned oil🪔

How do you like the lock differential. Some people say when you turn tight it rips up the grass a little bit. Is this true? Are you planning on getting the snowblower attachment. I'm hesitating between this one and the kubotta T2290. Thanks mate.
I do not notice the right turn problem you are talking about. How many hours on her so far and how has she been up to now?
I have almost 13000 hours ... basic maintenance (oil, plugs ,air filter, lubrication)...many blades (5 sets so far ).... one deck belt ... have not adjusted the valves yet ... slow compared to a zero turn .. very dependable😇
