  • The TS300 series of mowers are new here in the United States for 2018. These tractors are taking the place of the GT48 and GT52 line of tractors. The TS348 and TS354 models come in a few different variations with options like a front bumper, locking differential, and Husqvarna's U-Connect package (Set to launch later in the year). The mowers come with Clear Cut mower decks that do a great job striping the lawn and do not require a blower to be mounted to the deck to use a bagging/collection system. The big eye catcher on these mowers though is the upgraded seat. This is the same style seat that they used on the PZT, MZT, and some of the MZ mowers through the years. It is a high back seat that is a bit more comfortable than a standard lawn tractor seat.

I have a 2019 with a 54” deck and bought a 42” snowblower. I love this mower! Snow blower is a beast! Mows really nice also. If I could have one thing different, it would be a better dash cluster with fuel gauge. The little window is useless!!
Also, reverse is deathly slow! I removed the bolt stopper in the transmission and it’s a bit faster now, but competing mowers are much faster in reverse.

Purchased a Husqvarna TS354 XD in 2019 new. Purchased with the 54 inch mower deck and the 42 inch two stage snow thrower with power lift. This garden tractor replaced my Toro 269H with the same features that I bought new back in 1998. The Husqvarna has been mowing and snow blowing for 2 seasons now. A couple of comments to make based on my experience with the TS354 XD.
The engine exhaust is an issue. If you stop the tractor for even 2 minutes while mowing you will get a 6X6 grass burn on your lawn. The grass does not die but will take about 3 weeks to come back green. The engine exhaust is pushed straight down to the ground and this really heats up the grass. The exhaust port does not point down to the ground but all the brackets close to the exhaust redirect the air down as it comes out. Also I can melt a good section of my driveway letting the tractor idle during snow blowing. I have found that I make sure to drive the tractor onto my driveway before letting it sit and idle or turn the tractor off for even short time periods when working in the garden. No more grass burn doing this. I have been reviewing how to redirect the exhaust but have not found a modification that I like yet.
2nd issue is the front tire clip used to hold the tire on. I have had the front right tire fall off three times now. Turning puts pressure it seems on the tire clip used to hold the front tire on. This clip pops off and the tire slides off the spindle. My old Toro 269H had a cotter pin on the wheel spindle. The Husqvarna TS354 XD uses what my Dad always called a "Jesus clip" because each time you would try to put it on or take it off it would shoot off and slide somewhere on the garage floor for you to try and find. I have replaced the clip just this week to see if it was a bad clip. I am not the only one that has seen this occur based on different forum posts I have read. Recommendations I have seen online is to drill a 1/8th hole in the spindle where the clip goes and replace the clip with a cotter pin. Going to try that this summer if I have the tire fall off one more time. Also bought the replacement front bushing wheel bearing conversion kit off of Amazon for the front tires to see if these two things resolve the tire falling off issue.
    Wheel bearing conversion kit:
    www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-AYP-Craftsman-532124959-Conversion/dp/B073YFSYM9
3rd issue I have run into is that when mowing I seem to have a strip of grass that always seems to be missed as you turn during mowing. I mow our grass fairly high so this may be the issue. Have reviewed leveling the mower deck and have sharpened the blades every other mowing, swapping in my spare blade set that I bought. Still working on this bug to find a solution.
4th issue gas tank gas gauge is a window just below the driver seat. Cannot really see the gas level very well. Again I was spoiled by my old Toro 269H it had an indicator light on the console that would go on when gas was low. I just attempt to religiously top off gas after each mowing. Now if I could get my boys to do the same would be great when they mow for me.
5th issue, although minor, I cannot put on the front brush guard in the summer that came with the tractor now that I have the snow blower attachment/electric lift setup without fully removing the front lift kit any longer. Minor really I guess but now the brush guard just hangs in the garage during summer mowing as it does not seem to be worth the effort to pull all the brackets on and off each season.
I was spoiled by my old Toro 269H it was a hydraulic lift for the snow blower and mower deck. This made the transition from mowing to snow blowing very easy. The number of brackets to take off and put on the Husqvarna for each season is going to take time to get down to where it is second nature.
For the price I do believe the Husqvarna 354 XD is a good garden tractor for the first 2 years of use. The next 18 will tell if it is as good as my old Toro 269H.

I bought this model in January, I like it, but I had to re route the gas line because the masterminds at the factory install it right on top of the cylinder head causing vapor lock. It was stalling when hot until after the fix. Also the 3 point mounting on the deck causes the cut to leave steps when mowing parallel to a slight slope. Had to tie it down with an additional turnbuckle. Now the deck is not adjustable. Along with that, the hitch point is weak and bends with some weight is applied. Even after all this, I still like it.

How heavy is the frame on this model? I know the old LGT2654 my neighbor owns while not built as well as the TS series has terrible frame flex on the smallest of ground angle changes. I'm looking to replace my mowing tractor this year and the TS248xd with the kawasaki engine and the locking K66 hydro is high on my list for the price. M&P Shield I’m wondering the same. I’ve heard it’s too weak for a Johnny bucket. Using one will buckle the frame up front. I don’t ever plan to use one, so I’m strongly considering this mower as it can be had with a Kawasaki engine and heavier K66 transmission. Most mowers today have the k46 which is just going to break in 5-10 years. Basically, I’m trying to buy my last lawnmower and this may fit the bill for mowing use only with occasionally towing attachments. Good luck with what you decide.

    • @EshlemaniaTV
      @EshlemaniaTV  Před 5 lety +3

The frame will flex a bit. It is not as strong as an X500 series John Deere garden tractor for sure. When comparing it to a John Deere X500 series garden tractor the other thing John Deere has a big advantage on is the steering. from steering wheel to the front wheels the John Deere has a better steering system with stronger and heavier parts and better wheel bearings. The toss up is that the Husqvarna costs way less than a John Deere X500 series garden tractor and when you do have to replace parts you ae paying for the actual part and not the part AND the name on the package. So it really just comes down to what you intend to do with the tractor as to which one will work for you.

You are correct and you confirmed my curiosity! I just replaced my blades and rustproofed my deck underside and balanced the deck/blades and it's 3 1/2" all the way around at the cutting edge! That calculates to about a 2 1/2" cut after the tires roll across the soft ground after sinking about an inch. Why can't we get a standard 5" or 6" cut so we can adjust by lowering the deck. As it is now, the only reason to lower the deck would be to remove it from the machine or scalp your lawn.. It is common knowledge that ALL lawns should be cut to 3" or higher to fight drought and weeds. In our case the ground will dry faster and weeds get plenty of light to grow and take over..... which is also my case. Thanks for catching that!

I like it but would like to have a hand control instead of the foot control

Just went and bought one sight unseen. Should arrive in a week. I hope it’s a good buy

@@348loadedlever3 Bought a husqvarna? Or did you find one with hand control? I also prefer hand control with its natural "cruise control" but that's proving impossible to find.

Husqvarna is garbage. Bought a gt 52xls from a dealer and it was a worthless pile of junk. I will never buy anything Husqvarna again. The dealer was useless and customer service at Husqvarna is a joke.

Kohler engine on these models aren't worth the high price tag. My TS348D has had nothing but engine issues. Won't buy another one.
