I like how this takes place right after aquas, which is a beautiful under water utopia that gets more and more polluted. While this level was once a beautiful water world that was polluted by Andross, as if these 2 planets were exactly the same, but comes the rise of Andross and Zoness become a waste land and soon aquas will be next.
That's an interesting point, one that I noticed, too. You can also only get to it from Aquas, and it's the only possible destination you can reach from Aquas.
I think they are wrong to call Zoness a dump. When you arrive there are ton of living things, which seem to give you a harder fight than Aquas. But ya there are moral debates about changing the life profile of a planet for sure.
I can't believe that Nintendo is make that planet nasty. In the Beta version, Zoness is a beautiful watery planet. And then, in the final version, Zoness is now a disgusting watery planet.
Not to get all "hippie" and all that jazz; after the BP oil spill and watching a few documentaries over the years on some corporations that have poisoned areas without a thought to what would happen afterwards, and then playing the game on a whim, there was a certain level of "rawness" that hit the nerves as I went through Zoness, particularly with Falco's words. Maybe I thought too deeply, especially knowing that there are spots in the world where the damage is too great to repair. *shrug*
The rulers of the earth are intent on killing all of nature and using humans the earth as a base to conquer and destroy other planets. I want to know the story behind of zoness. I know that it got polluted by andross and that it was just like aquas nice beautiful blue. But what really caused it to be like murky water and stuff. Did they try a nuclear weapon test the malfunction during test .
Zoness used to be the premier vacation spot for the entire Lylat system, Peppy even took his wife there on his honeymoon. Andross' forces however managed to covertly take over the planet, building numerous refinery stations and supply depots to fuel his war with Corneria. The waste produced from the near constantly running machinery was simply dumped into the ocean, thousands upon thousands of gallons of toxic waste over time turned the water a sickly green colour and mutated the natural sea life into gargantuan monstrosities.

more like a planetary septic system. When you shoot the water with the Arwing's laser, it reacts differently than the water on Corneria.... I'm sure whenever it rains on Zoness, the water is highly toxic and would peel off an Arwing's paint.
Well, I suppose, even if it isn't exactly beneficial for some. Kinda like the nomura jellyfish is having a field day, leaving dead spots throughout the oceans. I'm really surprised the general and the underlings were able to survive in Zoness with all that damage done. And to think the whole planet is covered in that pollution? That's pretty boss-and yet, rather unfortunate they had the run of the place.
@ingram878 How they look in the game as levels is not relevant to how they would look in the story ("for real"). I've even read somewhere that Venom is a gasplanet, just like Jupiter, Saturn etc. And, even gasplanets has got a core that can be based on stone. And oh btw, none of them has got water. I think you mean Zoness and that is some toxic liquid. If you knew a little about astronomy you'd probably understand.
@GUNFiRe303 O! I´m sorry mr "I know it all" but since we are talking about FICTION the level design in the planets would really mater in the structure of the planets, besides, a massive gas planet so near from that miniature sun would be practically impossible mr astrologist, the coloration on the planets are just the atmospheres in the planet; and in starfox adventures, Venom is said to have fauna, and even inteligent lifeform. something a gassy planet wouldn´t have. there you go mr astronomy.
@ingram878 Maybe you're talking about fiction, I was just thinking about how it WOULD be in real life. I think Venom would be too big and too far away from it's star (if we say that Lylat is a medium size star) to actually have life on it. It's more similiar to a gas planet to me. I also think that Zoness would be bigger, bigger than Corneria. That's just my theories, since I'm interested in both astronomy and Star Fox. And hey, I'm a girl.
@GUNFiRe303 woops sorry jeje i thought you were a boy since girls don´t usually yell at other people in youtube and your account name is gunfire, so i supposed, but anyways, sorry miss.

Yeah they’re hardier from the pollution, that’s why they’re stronger
I can't believe that Nintendo is make that planet nasty.

You stopped the pollution before it gets worse on Aquas.
This song has the feel of hopelessness and sorrow
Now this is depressing. I mean, this tune plays while you're on a planet that has become polluted and maybe all of its life has died because of it
EPIC Compressed Quality that listeners Seem to Not understand !
The Echo in N64 Sounds are what makes it Sound FULLER and MORE ALIVE !
After Zoness, it should be "Defend Great Fox from 6 missiles or wreck a train?"
Yep. I messed up 😂
"This is Zoness?"
What a dump!

Falco: I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS SHIT!
(lol i used to hear that when he sat I cant believe they did this)
It's really interesting when you're reading about the Principality of Sealand on Wikipedia with this song playing.
one of my favorite missions in the series.
I always loved how the sky looked
Fantastic theme, fantastic level, hilarious boss fight.
No-one fucking DARES dislike this music
& if they do, we'll assume they got "spotted"
Welcome to Zoness, AKA Earth, year 3000.

good times..... remember them
8 years ago wow 🙂
This song is so good that it doesn't need a remix or any alteration of any kind. It's just that good... Remember the Good Times.
Don't mind me
this game has such an amazing soundtrack, it's just too bad you can't hear the true detail of the each planet's theme over all the onscreen action.
Until you unlock Music Test.
2 Things:
1. I think this my new favorite; I hum it at school.
2. I fannamed this song "Unknown Disaster"
Peppy: This is Zoness?
"Uh-oh, have we been spotted?"
環境汚染された悲しき惑星ゾネス
最高のbgm なのに切なく感じる😭
なに?
これがあのゾネスか?
This song came to mind when I was watching the news today about a polluted river near where I live.
This theme reminds me of Waterworld.
This is a beautiful tune in SF64...
And yet, it sounds pretty tragic, given the level this is played on....
ペッピー「これがあのゾネスか?」
I can still hear Peppy say "You've got an enemy on your tail!"... around 0:48.
I miss this game. :(
Has anybody notice that the boss in this area sounded like a freaking pirate?
great music, thank you for posting.
1:43, the goosebumps!!
I love this one espeically when it kicks into it!
1:47 is like an epic suicide scene
@TheZukunftsNerd there are some square panels in sector X that when you shoot at them, they grow red. you must open them all and go through them, that opens the portal to sector Z
You know, this is actually pretty cool music. :D
I think "corrupted paradise" seems more fit since Zoness was a beach-like planet until Andross and his gang dumped their wastes there.
Dire Dire docks is a mor epeaceful version of this, I suppose.
Peppy:
"I can't believe this....Is this that same Zoness!?"
I try to learn this song on trombone
Peppy: THIS is Zoness?

"Go after Slippy, or wreck a train?"
That was an odd thing to bring up in a level music video. XD
I messed up. It should have been Sector Z and Macbeth. 😭
I was thinking that, too! :D
I don't know why they put a pirate as the boss of this level, but at least they got a pirate in the game!
Take out those search lights.
MIDI you're doing it right
yep :D!
Well most off it I hear in my head. :P
Ooooooh Shoot!

@GUNFiRe303 in the lylat system every planet seems to be a stone planet
i this would be good for the water lvl
please xtend the mission accomplished theme
@GUNFiRe303How come if both planets have rocks and water (and even trees [venom]) in ´em?
@GUNFiRe303 it's an ice planet which melted and turned into water, then the water was polluted.
There's an enemy base there?!
@SUPERUNKNOWED just one problem: watch out actually means destroy them all :P
@Scoobodybop Well, that's a shame, cuz I'm a good ways into a metal remix of it...

@ingram878 No can't be. I think Zoness is a gas planet, Venom is definitely a gas planet (it's also logical since it's the last one from the star).

Venom is more like a giant Venus. It has an incredibly dense toxic atmosphere. Solar is a red dwarf. And Lylat prime is a blue giant.
