- Michael K. Williams has appeared in some of our favorite shows including “The Wire” and “Boardwalk Empire.” He’s also starred in many films like “12 Years a Slave” and “When They See Us.” His latest project, a movie called “Body Brokers,” explores drug addiction. It follows junkies living on the streets of rural Ohio, who are brought to Los Angeles for drug treatment. Michael joins “Tamron Hall” to talk about his latest offering, he also opens up about his own battle with substance abuse, and how meeting Barack Obama before he was president changed his life.

This hurts. As far as celebrities is concerned, this is up there with Kobe’s death for me. He was such a great actor and he will be missed. RIP Michael K. Williams. Brilliant actor.
His tribute to DMX is amazing...bet awards 2021
@top kats they take our leaders and they lynch them..
Mr.Williams is a murder victim ... He wanted to defund the NYPD!
#ProjectLEAD NYCKIDS 1st!
We lived with him and his characters so long, it feels like losing a friend or family member. Especially knowing his struggles with addiction made a lot of us feel closer to him. Reminds me of the feeling I had when Phil Hoffman or James Gandolfini died. Still crushed...
Couldn't have said it better, I'm pissed I'm sad, I'm heartbroken smh
In NYC these circles are small, never met him, but probably been in some of the same venues, blah blah, this brother was real, humble, brilliant, and still unequivocally Brooklyn at its best. I'mma be dealing with this for a minute, still waiting...to hear it's actually a horrible disgusting prank.
Jimmy and Kaia - Could not agree more. I was shopping in a little thrift when the news about Prince broke, and the sweet grannies volunteers just did not understand. I went outside, connected with two young women, broke it to them and we had a group hug/cry. I needed people who also felt the same loss to grieve with. And now Michael. The planet really has become a lesser place since they left, and I really miss them.
You don't know what people are dealing with privately. Michael was an excellent actor and a beautiful soul. May he rest in peace and I'm sending my condolences to his family and friends.🙏🏾
Yes 💯

I’m glad he spoke on this while he was here. Rest Peacefully King.
Good soul here speaking. Why do people call people kings and queens when they aren’t actually kings and queens ? No disrespect to Mr. Williams, just curious if you have a different perspective or understanding than i
@@IflySolo816 Well if man was meant to fly, Jah woulda made us all with wings
Well he made us all with crowns, that mean seh every man a king
True
@@manaulhoque6507 i agree with the notion that God makes us how we are for a reason.
Here’s the definition of crown - “ An ornamental circlet or head covering, often made of precious metal set with jewels and worn as a symbol of sovereignty. “
God did not make anyone with one of these naturally on their head at birth. Humans put the crown on their head to symbolize power/sovereignty/rule over other humans.
In his case we had every idea what he was going through he has been very candid about his history of addiction
This joint exposed a lot i didn’t know. My man was going through alot mentally, heartbreaking. Gdamn RIP bro.

Michael dying of an apparent heroin OD after watching body brokers a couple weeks ago is crazy. A former heroin addict myself this hits home. You wont have to fight the every day battle anymore. May you rest in peace
I am glad you have been successful in your personal battle Ken. Everyday is a victory.
I can relate. Everyday win is a success story.
@@PhilM4 thank you that means a lot coming from a stranger and I really mean that. I’m going on 2+ years clean after 10+ years using opiates. It starts with yourself, if you don’t want to stop no one can make you. Enough was enough for me, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired/that life style. Since then I’ve accomplished so much and this is just the beginning. Sadly I lost one of my best friends/cousin to heroin shortly after getting clean myself and it was a huge wake up call. I was with him the night before and had been trying to get him help by any means and he was ready himself. It doesn’t discriminate and is an epidemic in this country. I watched this interview when it aired and it felt good to hear a man be so transparent. When I read the news article that Michael K. Williams was dead, I thought... "Please don't tell me that that beautiful black man that was on the Tamron Hall Show didn't fall back into his addiction... Please don't tell me that that beautiful black man is dead." 🤦🏾♀️ I desperately cheered for him and prayed for him. He is the reason why I wanted to start bike riding again and did so for the first time in nearly 20 years... while on vacation this summer. He made me believe that this 50 year old grandmother could do it and I rode with my grandson. He made me feel like I could over come my addiction to sugar and win the battle against anxiety, depression and self defeating thoughts. I'm so very sorry that his addiction took him out of here. I pray that he is now at peace. God bless you Michael K. Williams. You are and always will be special. 💔
I was hoping it wasn't him who died. I saw him in an interview on Steven Cobert and I feel in love with his enthusiasm for acting, his kindness and his beautiful smile and laugh. I also ride a bike but I have been doing this form of exercise for awhile. I will miss him and his talent and smile.
@@carladaquila8190 I got goosebumps just thinking about it. I didn't want it to be him either. It's so sad. I'm not ready to buy a bike yet but when I do... I will keep Michael K. Williams in mind. Such a beautiful human being inside and out.🙋🏾♀️💜
Beautifully said!🙏🏾💔 I pray His delicate sweet soul has found everlasting joy comfort peace and Love!

This is so sad to watch...addiction is real. Rip to a great and talented actor 🙏🏾
So sad to hear of this beautiful Black man's passing. This interview is a revealing look into his private battles with feeling worthy and appreciated. Rest well, King.
IT IS VERY SAD TO HEAR. THE INDUSTRY HAS DONE THIS. HOW OFTEN ARE HEAVILY MELANATED PEOPLE CASTED? NOT TOO OFTEN UNLESS THEY ARE NEGATIVELY PORTRAYED. PIMPS, WHORES, PROSTITUTES, GANG RELATED, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WOMANIZERS, NON-HETEROSEXUALS. YET THEY DO NO HAVE NON-MELANATED PEOPLE PLAYING THESE CHARACTERS. THEIR CHARACTER SAVES THE DAY. WE MUST WAKE UP COLLECTIVELY. I PRAY HIS FAMILY RECEIVES THE HEALING AND COMFORT THEY NEED AT THIS TIME. PRAISE YAHUAH. SHALOM.

"His passing is a loss to humanity" so eloquently spoken. RIP MKW
Omar,Chacky, etc...any character Michael plays he brings his A game , he is one hell of an actor, I respect him so much.
Sadly, 7 months from this moment he would be having an overdose and passing away from drugs. 😓 RIP
Yes it is.....I definitely agree with you
this is a video that is even more shocking and tragic after the breaking news, that he was still fighting demons on this video, how did he get into drugs in the first place?
SwaggyTJ Matthews it’s not hard imo a better question in lot of places is how didnt he get into drugs. Once an addict ur an addict for life so whether he was actively into his addiction or not during this interview the battle w the demons is constant an never ending but does get lil easier the further u separate urself from actively using.
The world lost such a beautiful soul today. RIP
