How to fill a mask with locktite foam! easiest way I know- works for gloves too! www.homedepot.... Support the channel- Buy Merch! stiltbeaststud... Buy Masks and teeth! stiltbeaststud...
This dude is freaking great! He's the MacGyver of FX! I've seen videos of legit mask makers using crazy expensive foams to fill their masks and stressing out the entire time because the foam can collapse if the conditions aren't right, Allen runs to Walmart and grabs the Locktite gap foam and does a perfect job and fast! I'm certainly not hating on those other artists they are amazing and super generous with their time and knowledge. Allen just seems to know how to get shit done fast and still really good.
Would it be possible to use this foam head as a means to remake an old mold that is exhausted, by covering the foam filled mask with plaster? If so, would i need to spray pledge onto the latex mask before applying plaster, and how difficult would it be to remove during once the plaster has cured? As always, thanks for sharing.
I have some masks that i want to turn into the display foam filled head. I have seen you use both locktite spray foam as well as the home depot sika post fix. What is the better application for someone just starting out. I took some of my old masks and turned them into life sized props this year for Halloween. I just used the foam head. Unfortunately the head is small and does not fill in the mask properly. Then i came across your videos.
I just recently used that locktite foam for the first time, love it. You're right, it gets dense and is easier to work with, I was shocked. Great content as always sir.
I’ve been scouring the Internet for weeks now to find a severed head and this was close when you said you might sever it I have my fingers crossed, but I’ve searched watch all of your videos and can’t find any severed parts made from scratch😢
What I’m trying to do is make severed arms on a body! I’m gonna have a dummy hanging and was hoping to cut the sleeves off the arms and have the arms sticking out severed off around the elbow I tried the glue and paper towel method with Loctite, but wasn’t coming out where I was hoping lol
@@StiltbeastStudios thanks for responding. Yeah, I get what you were doing. It was just a question I had about making skulls and masks. I just wasn't very clear with .y question. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a response. So, thanks again.
I’m looking to make a sculpture using some sorta hard clay Making a rubber latex mold And filling it with foam and I wonder how smooth it would come out if it would get the detail
This may be a dumb question. But if you wanted to use a mask for a pneumatic prop would this system work if I had a metal square tube in the metal and monitored it?
Theoretically would it be possible , to fill a mask you didnt want with plaster or something similar making it solid and using it as a bust head for future Sculpting and molding ?
Seems it would work to build layered or heavily built up masks-like your scarecrow mask or maybe a zombie. Inserting a pole or PVC section would make it mountable. I think I just figured out how to do a bunch of heads on posts like in TWD finale from the Whisperers season.
I’m filling a mask here real quick for my haunt. Question: can I cut the foam out later? Will it leave residue on the latex? Cause any permanent changes? Thanks fir all the great content! 🙏
@@natij26 you want to remove the foam later right? If thats true then Id powder the inside before you foam it. I just wanted mine foam filled in the video so I did not use a release.
Since this is different than great stuff, is there less chance of it buckling and distorting the mask inward like great stuff can sometimes do? (The main reason I refuse to use GS for foam filling anything)
yes, but be careful- this is a rigid foam when fully cured. Just do one layer clinging to the mask- pull it from the mold at the 15 minute mark or sooner- its just as easy to do out of the mold really.
@@StiltbeastStudios thank you for ur Answer, I just finish right now to watch ur live . What time start ur live (it s the night in france😉 when u begin it?)

thats beacause I was very poor for a very long time lol.
good work
Foam filled is my FAVORITE!!!!!

You kept setting my Alexa off 😂lol
its an interactive video!

This is just what I was looking for. Your method looks easier and maybe better than the other methods I looked at. Thanks!
I have a few videos on foam filling, make sure to check out the others!
Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the straight forward instructional video.
glad you liked it!
Wow I watch you every day love your work
Glad you like it!
more videos are coming!
so happy your started doing non live streamed videos again
Lol!!! Now I get it! Sorry man! I’m learning. Thank you! This channel is AWESOME!
No worries!
Awesome video Allen
Very good!
Excellent thank you Allen
My pleasure!

would turning a mask into a severed head work?

What if you would wet down the inside of the mak first so you could get the mask off. Then you would have a foam head.
you could, but that was not my goal- I wanted a foam filled mask as opposed to a vaguely head shaped head. you really dont get much detail.
@@StiltbeastStudios thanks for responding. Yeah, I get what you were doing. It was just a question I had about making skulls and masks. I just wasn't very clear with .y question. Honestly, I wasn't expecting a response. So, thanks again.
Awesome!!! Thank you
The “Alexa…” comments keeping setting off my units…it would be great to bleep that out or something.
we normally try to we just missed these- consider it interactive ;)
What effect does the water spray have on the process? I would've thought it would cause foam collapse.
It helps the cure time- the foam uses water vapor in the air to cure- this foam is more dense- so it has less collapse in general.
Perfect solution for my giants' heads. Ty as always.
sweet!
Oh my heck thank you for this. I have just had my prop heads on a foam wig head and they just always look floppy.
Where is your monster museum?
at Scarborough faire renniasance festival in Waxahatchie Texas!
Crazed Michael Jackson 😆 🤣
I am a beginner, this looks so easy. If I wanted to put a piece of pvc pipe in a mask at what step what I add that.
while the foam is soft
@@StiltbeastStudios ok thanks for the reply. I will give it a try.
Would drilling vent holes in the pvc allow gas to escape or will the uncured foam just fill in the holes?
Always cool gettin to look over your shoulder while your up to workin... gotta head to work, later Allen & crew : D
never used that brand to fill a mask before... maybe i'll give it a shot...
I love it, its my go to now
I am getting ready to foam fill my first latex mask! What foam is best for a total beginner... A/B foam or Lock tite or Great Stuff??
AB foam, dont use great stuff
This is when gloves come in handy, a million likes
My Alexa set a timer for 5min 🤣
yeah..... sorry! lol
How many cans does it take to do a normal full head mask? Will 1 can be plenty enough? Thanks
I’m looking to make a sculpture using some sorta hard clay
Making a rubber latex mold
And filling it with foam and I wonder how smooth it would come out if it would get the detail
latex molds are pretty common still and they hold great detail, just make it thick enough that it does not distort from the pressure of the foam.
Oh my god it’s Michael Jackson
This may be a dumb question. But if you wanted to use a mask for a pneumatic prop would this system work if I had a metal square tube in the metal and monitored it?
it would work, I have done it. more violent motions might need a more robust foam
Love your videos! Would love them even more if you didn't have your conversations with Alexa in them so that my fire cube doesn't respond to you. LOL
your fire cube misses me and wants you to watch more.
@@StiltbeastStudios I watched two to three videos of yours a day. I turn off about 10 Alexa timers during that time.
So loctite only. Or is there a similar version of great stuff to use?
Great stuff just has different properties. The locktiteis the best in my opinion.
My parents bought me pretty much that same mask mask as a prisoner costume when I was in elementary school 😂.
So I’m making a pneumatic prop with head movement can I add the manikin head in the mask and fill it with foam ?
you can!
ITS CZcams WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!
Do I have to hang it or can I keep it in the bucket?
as long as you dont let it deform you can leave it where ya want
I wonder if there is faom in the head?
ITS A FOAM FILLED PROP!!!!!
Theoretically would it be possible ,
to fill a mask you didnt want with plaster or something similar making it solid and using it as a bust head for future Sculpting and molding ?
in theory yes but better to do a life cast as masks already have distorted proportions

thats great it would be nice to see if you could turn a half mask into a full prop head ? HFL!!
you absolutely can- I can do a video on that soon
@@StiltbeastStudios great i'll be waiting patiently
I’m filling a mask here real quick for my haunt. Question: can I cut the foam out later? Will it leave residue on the latex? Cause any permanent changes?
Thanks fir all the great content! 🙏
yes you can, but easier to just pull the mask off of it. and baby powder the inside as another layer of release.
When do I add the baby powder?
In the video you mi ay the onside of the mask, so I’m a little confused.
Thanks again!
@@natij26 you want to remove the foam later right? If thats true then Id powder the inside before you foam it. I just wanted mine foam filled in the video so I did not use a release.
Yes exactly!
Thanks for the help!!
Since this is different than great stuff, is there less chance of it buckling and distorting the mask inward like great stuff can sometimes do? (The main reason I refuse to use GS for foam filling anything)
much less, its three times as dense as great stuff so there is inherently less collapse.
Hey Allen, do you know if it is possible to do this but with the new latex mask inside his plaster mold ?
yes, but be careful- this is a rigid foam when fully cured. Just do one layer clinging to the mask- pull it from the mold at the 15 minute mark or sooner- its just as easy to do out of the mold really.

Would you use this method on one of your blank masks that I bought from your studio and use it as a prop head?
yes, it works great on them- I look forward to seeing them!
Sweet!
I'm laughing so hard that you even needed to explain what a prop is, jeez.
Im floored by how often folks dont get that I just want it solid.
Is that mask Michael Jackson?
it was a mask called wacko Jacko- modeled after Michael Jackson- I did not make it.
