What I learned from this video:
1) How to make a cast of someone's head.
2) Get Bill Doran to do it
+Punished Props solid plan, but floppy face mask😅😅
+Punished Props Hey Bill, sounds like a plan. I live in England, when are you next popping over...?
kathmonkey me too
kathmonkey Also that he's making sure we can breathe 👌
they mixed up several cups
I can totally see people trying to do this at home and forgetting to put air holes.
Natural selection, my friends
+Camerafart Ethan haha
B Cook I
B Cook all they need is straws to make it work on a lazy budget
Ben mitchell thats a bad idea
This was a great recap of what we did there! I know I came in half-way, but, VERY thankful that I got the chance to help since I learned A LOT.
***** wait, wait... ONE OF US. ONE OF US.
"recap" I see what you did there.
3D Printing Nerd
Re-cap.
hi
i had to make sure i wasn't watching make anything // 3d printing channel
that was super cool. Thanks for sharing the process with us!
I love your channel
you have an awesome channel! subscribed awhile ago
Peter Brown hi peter brown, I’m not saying something mean but you should make more lathe videos because I need help making bowls and using a 4 jaw chuck
Peter Brown g
That was fascinating.
I love your channel
I would lose my mind being inside that thing for such a long time.. Legit panic attack.
How on earth did you handle it?
+Cabanaz theres a thing called claustrophobia wich is the fear of a confined space, it can lead to really bad anxiety and panic attacks.
Cabanaz wow proud of you kid very mature (clap, clap) youre so wise and mature, your mom must be proud.
Foxuniverso Their point was proven by you saying that :/
I had a tissue face mask once...
I freaked out and sucked up my nose
Eco you need to trust the person doing it
My description of what's happening: "First, we're going to make you into an alien, then a mummy. Then once you molt your alien and mummy skin, we're going to fill it with foam and pick clay boogers out of your nose."
Glam Cam 😂
xD
the description of this video in less than 60 words
Oh gosh watching this gave me serious heart palpitations! Even if my nose were left clear I think I would still go into such a panic!:')
Same becouse no matter how healthy I am even sence chemo i get random times where i cant breeth though my nose
Yeah I would NOT be down for this. Lol.
wao
Same. This is my nightmare!
very true, i cant imagine how inside the mold
i remember when this channel had like 1000 subs, i was obsessed with this channel, its great to see how far its grown and that you have co-labbed with other you tubers and you seem to be enjoying making projects more than you did 2 years ago. congrats on the growth Bob you deserve it
Am I the only one that's thinking about pistachio ice cream after watching this?
Yes.
no
I am now!
Well now I am
This was unbelievable. I had to watch it twice! I'm very impressed with all the things we can make & build :)
That would freak me out. I don't know if I could hang in there for an entire hour.
Awesome Bob! Props on staying still for that long!
This brought me back to my "The Making of Thriller" VHS.
Fun video! (Yours and Micheal Jackson's)
Oh yeah! I remember that making of video!! Totally forgot about that. I was at the EMP in Seattle recently and they had one of the zombie costumes from Thriller on display :) It was weird but I immediately knew what it was when I saw it.
Nice...I would have thrown it on and busted out the dance!
the best head casting technique ive ever seen so far, congratulations!
Such a great team. Awesome job!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Bill did a great job with that mold!
Thanks!
How much smooth on would it take to do this? I'm looking at doing this but don't know quantities I'd need.
Awesome technique!
Used to do this a lot for my study. Awesome explanation and video. Good luck with casting Rob!
Very cool! We at Distortions wish you the best with your tutorial series! Keep up the good work!
This is really cool. Cant wait to see your helmet build.
watching this makes the claustrophobic
Super cool video! It's always fun to see what kind of things you make and do. You're giving me plenty ideas for projects!
Brilliant... Bobs channel just keeps getting better. Well done!
Bill is pretty awesome at what he does, for sure. Did he stream it? Gonna have to check the vods.
He didn't stream it unfortunately.
Really cool! :D
I'd be freaked out if I had that done to me... but I'm glad you said it wasn't too bad. Great video! I can't wait to see what you do with the mold.
The same guy, Bill, just did an episode with the modern rogue on this too and they go into a lot of detail in real time which was also pretty awesome! Great video
Am i the only one who have difficulties to breath watching this???😂😳😁
Nope
Nope same
No im not breathing right no jk
Nope
Anyone else get sweaty hands watching this?! Claustrophobia alert 😩
me
is it? I usually get sweaty hands when I'm running. Must have runnophobia... :(
+Denasdc Stasibasiphobia
sam kelly : a mental health condition in which a person is convinced that walking or standing is physically impossible
no...
Denasdc The closest thing, there is no fear of running
We're gonna give this a try soon! Thanks for the video and list of products!
Cool video, your patience is extraordinary!
I think I have everyone featured in this video in my subscription. 😂 Love this video, very informative!
Great video.
Thanks Ted!
Yes it was!
Such a reminder of the time I had my head molded and cast. Hope your head work goes well!
seeing the inside of a mold like that gives me the shivers!
I would probably freak out midway the process.
André Fontes Same
Hey Bob, love the video(s). I was lucky enough to have a special effects company make a lifecast of my gigantic knoggin. Reason being that any mask they sculpted on it would fit anyone. I got a pull from the cast and it's been useful for everything from sculpting an Alien face hugger to stretching out a leather tricorn pirate hat. Unfortunately, during the casting, someone in the shop farted while I was constrained to only breathing through one nostril, which made the experience a bit traumatic. Only someone who has been through it can appreciate how vulnerable one is.
That is a level of trust I don't have with many people. Bravo!
Super cool man. Glad it worked out so well!
This is why we need 3D scanning and printing haha
That looks TERRIFYING!
Yes
Good stuff Bob, Bill, et al. I watched the Twitch stream and am looking forward to the final casting!
Been looking to silicone cast a couple of sculpts I made - this really helped.
What if you want to use the bathroom?
Isabella Gonzalez just piss yourself
Diaper?
Do you pee from your face?
It's not that long. It's like 30 to 40 minutes.
Richard W idk
I don't think I'd ever survive this.. but hey, this is very cool.
I was a bit concerned, but it ended up not being too bad. I just tried to control my breathing and I knew that at any moment I could reach up and rip it off if I really got in trouble.
+I Like To Make Stuff - Of course, but being claustrophobic I don't think I could ever do such thing. But yes, I can agree it really comes down to trying to handle it.
That's great. I have been wanting to make a casting of my head for a while and this seems like the way to go. I have zero experience doing anything like this, but I've never let lack of experience get in the way of progress. It shall be done! Thanks for the great vid.
Did you end up doing it? How’d it go?
Yay ! Another vid with Bill !
That was cool. Kinda creepy looking when they pulled off the one layer and the green layer was still there haha. Good stuff Bob!
ALMOST A MILLI!. been a fan for ages bob
I don't know any way to do that, but I really appreciate you sticking around!
I Like To Make Stuff np man i absolutely love your content and your personality. :)
That was Super cool Bob!
That’s so cool! It looked so cool at the ending
What if you had a cold and a blocked nose on the day you would do the life casting
Rip
But in all seriousness, most people establish a signal that the person being casted can do to alert everyone else that something's wrong. Then they can pull off the cast
this looks slightly terrifying
I really love your video. especially the king sized bed with storage
Great video. The foam head would make for a cool Halloween head on a platter decoration project.
I was freaking out watching you in the mold.
god i couldnt do that i can barely breathe out of my nose :/
I really enjoy watching all your videos. I hope you will also do more videos for the maker 101 series and more wood working projects.
Hey bob, i really like your videos since i'm into design myself. I'm just wondering if you'll be doing electronic projects with explanations for each component as i am struggling with electronics myself and what they are used for. It would be nice to see you use the overhead camera in your electronics station too. Thanks
Another way to keep the nose clear is to put straws in, this is how my costume design teacher does it
The only issue with that method is it distorts the shape of the nostrils
and if a straw is knocked it can damage the inside of your nose and do some pretty major damage
That would not work fornme becouse even when im healthy ever sense chemo i get random runny noses
What if you had long hair!?!!? 😱
lol
bald cap!
Awesome, perfect likeness
Thats so cool!! Would love to get something like this!
4:12 He kinda looks like Voldemort just white instead of grey
Haarrryyyyy Pooooottttteeeerrrrrrr........
Pro tip for people doing this at home, nose straws go a long way
Oh man! I wish I'd known you were in Seattle! Hope you had a fun time out here.
Back in grade school, one of the other home room classes made plaster molds of their heads for art class. They used lengths of drinking straws to ensure unblocked breathing passages when the nose area was covered.
you got mummified!!😅😅
It's a mummy
my mummy is sitting next to me
ok
Love your videos man keep it up!
That was freaking awesome!
This really helped. I never could figure out how to keep the two parts seperate.
He looks so happy!!
That's so cool!! I watch bill doran!!
OMG this was so cool! Can't wait to see what u have next for us
Hey its bill! I love both of your channels dudes! Keep up the good work!
This is so amazing
that was freaking awesome!!!
Cool stuff. That would freak me out though. I don't know that I could handle being covered like that for so long.
What would you use normally if not the expanding foam?
This was awesome!
Aww i love how reassuring he is
Brilliant video, yere all very talented
Best cast vid I've ever seen
that's freaking awesome!
Very educative, and inspiring. I like the video. What did you mixed with the silicon please?
I felt like I couldn't breath just watching this. Good work on not passing out.
Wow, it just so happens that I'm looking to make one of these bad boys. Great video!
Very informative and well done .... It answered some questions that I had .....Thanks......Protect Your DIGITS................Gregg
This is a great video! Make more!
Super awesome, definitely makes me want to try! What alternative to latex bald caps did you guys use? Can’t seem to find anything but latex on the interweb…
