    As a owner of this sprayer I have to say I haven’t had the pump issue. However, I hate the fact that once the liquid gets under a certain amount it doesn’t pump out anything. Leaving me with about 6-8 oz of product still to get out. 🤬

    Re: pump issue
    the sprayer can get airlocked. it happened when I tested the minimum amount of liquid would be left in tank. even after refilling tank, it won't spray until airlock is fixed
    to release air stuck in the line, there is a little knob under the trigger. unscrew this a tiny bit until liquid starts to spray out again then re-tighten

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  Před 8 měsíci +1

      I’ll check that sometime

      @emmanueltan1332 Před 8 měsíci +2

      sorry I forgot to mention to hold the trigger down when slightly unscrewing the knob on top of wand trigger
      I initially said the knob is underneath which is incorrect.
      this purges the air stuck in the line and you should feel the pressure increase. will be noticeable as the pump will also stop whining continuously

    Hey everyone, just commenting in regards to the pump issue.. I’ve had this issue on the 15l and 7.5l.. it is due to the filters clogging. Simply need to clean them out. For the 15l one it is at the bottom of the container, it pulls out easily and then just needs to be cleaned out (looks similar to a dish washing filter) for the smaller unit, the line that feeds the chemical through has the filter on the end of it, at the tip. It simply
    Pulls off however this filter is a very small metal grate, so be careful not to lose it. Once washed all will run perfectly fine again.

    Good job. I've been using these daily for the past couple years and can echo everything you said here, the other issue I've had multiple times is the hose getting brittle either up by the wand or down not the tank base and spraying everywhere. I just switched to this unit from the Milwaukee M18 backpack. I am a Milwaukee fan boy, but they dropped the ball in a major way with the backpack sprayer. I've had 4 stop working and finally gave up! One would expect more for a $300 sprayer. So far, I'm liking the Ryobi, especially getting it for $69 on a Father's Day special. A funny comparison, I see several comments complaining about this sprayer having 6 ounces or so left in the tank and not spraying. Me and my wife were thrilled when we saw "how empty" the tank got in comparison. The Milwaukee would often have 1/3 a gallon or so left. I learned the hard way, don't try too hard to tilt the tank or get it to spray the remaining portion or the motor would burn up in no time, ridiculous.

    Good review, thanks! I’ve had the same sprayer for about a year and a half and have had no pump priming issues. The rubber covering on the hose where it connects to the backpack split but didn’t leak. I used some epoxy, wire loom and a few zip ties to fix it and give it a little more support. Apart from that, no issues so far. I agree about the lid, it does t screw on easily and it tends to leak out of the top vent of you move too much. I also agree that cleaning out the tank is a pain because of the shape and the flat tops. Apart from that, I like it and use it every few weeks.

    Also with the pickup inside the tank leaving product behing i rekon u should be able to extend to pick-up hose deeper into tank. They must keep it up higher to stop dirt getting sucked up but if your regular in cleaning your tank out i can't see an issue

    I only have pressure drop issues if I don't clean out my tank and the filter. If I clean those after every use I never have pressure drop and it always sprays the entire tank. Leaving behind just a few drops in the bottom that I just drain out. If you don't fill the tank through the grate filter at the top of the tank you can get dirty and grass in the pump causing issues as well. As long as you clean and maintenance the tank it works fine in my experience. I use it commercially spraying around 400-600 gallons per season (800-1200 gallons a year). Been using it for 3 years now. Always run clean water through the pump before you store it to clean out residual chems in the line and pump housing.

I guess im going to have to take it a part a little and see what's going on but it sounds like it wants to pump and it makes like two attempts and then just stops. I had to go back to my manual Chapin backpack sprayer and it really made me appreciate the Ryobi. I dont have the issue of it losing pressure when its low, it always just sprayed everything. It's not easy to clean which is probably why I dont do it as often. but I guess it's time to take it apart for a deep clean. I hope the pump starts working again, not sure if that is the same issue you were having or not.

    I have about 6 of these. Much better than the older version. BUT, trying to Change the hose at the machine side is an issue. First, you need a star tip driver, that is NOT just a tip from a ratchet set because the adapter is too big to fit in the groove. THEN you need another star tip with the hole in the center just to get the hose off the pump. The house has a metal clamp which is crimped on, so you can't just cut the hose, where it will WILL leak or tear.

    I use several Ryobi sprayers. Mostly I like them. But the sprayer does not use all the chemical in the tank. There is always about a half gallon left! So you have to carry the extra weight but you can’t use it. Very annoying. The hoses eventually fail and are very difficult to change as they require a special screwdriver! So far I’ve just temporarily retired those sprayers until I get the tools. Apparently also the hose is not a common diameter so you have to use one from Ryobi.

    I've been using this sprayer for about 2 years now, and I added a proper T-Jet nozzle last year. At its max setting, I think this sprayer outputs the water pretty slowly compared to some of the better sprayers I've seen others use on CZcams. For my 3000 sq ft plot, I need to take these little 1/2 foot steps very slowly and then return back in the next row at about a shoulder width from where I was. If I do that, I spray about 3 gallons over the 3000 sq ft space, but it just seems like I'm moving pretty slow to accomplish the spray, where as everyone else looks like they get to walk a regular pace. Spraying the tank isn't going to do anything for that type of sprayer you ought to know that it's suction pads similar to gravity fed you know you don't build up pressure so you don't spray back into the tank he just wants it starts siphoning properly it's going to work spraying the tank won't help with pressure at all but it will mix the pesticide or whatever you are using

    Ryobi makes two different ones of the 4 gallons and I think another smaller one, I own both of the 4 gallons versions, they both do lose pressure when the liquid is low, otherwise they both work perfect for me, I use one strictly for weed killer and the other one for no chemicals like neem oil. My only complain with both is their hose, with some of my fruit trees are near 20ft tall there's no way to reach the top branches with their 15" hose & I don't want to try something that is not made for it, I wish Ryobi or Home Depot do something about it.

      @@TheLawnMentor Oh hey I meant to mention to you a product called Gallery 75DF (Isoxaben 75%) it's a dry flowable pre emergent .. 1st it's expensive ..BUT .. It is the tool you were always missing .. Where Prodiamine & Dithiopyr are for grassy weeds this is for broadleaf's. I Have a 2nd lot beside my main lot.. It had become overgrown into almost a field. Well the dreaded Dog Fennel & (and far as I knew there was no pre emergent that would control it) decided to live there in the field and went to seed going all into my beautiful Bermuda. It was everywhere.. so I sprayed with SpeedZone early spring and moved over to 3 way into the mid spring.. I could not keep up with it.. and it was driving me crazy 😥😥 ... you know the feeling. Anyway I sprayed it in mid March as soon as I received the Gallery, and of course I expected more that had already germinated but was hoping it would prevent new ones from germinating. So I went to hand pulling for a few weeks and lo and behold around mid April there was no more Dog Fennel !! .. It was nothing short of a miracle. I just wanted to share this with you so you could check it out if not familiar with it .. oh & Dandy's and other broadleaf's .. NONE!! as an extra bonus I always get Chamber Bitter along the edges of the property .. NONE ! It also covers Spurge and a handful of others. Sorry to write a book but hopefully this will come in handy for you as well as your CZcams followers. Have a great day ..

It then coagulated like crazy!!! Both filters were clogged solid (1 after only 1 gallon sprayed! ) and there was stringy and globular debris in both tanks. As the pump is running it should create enough of a negative pressure to pull that valve down and let air into the top of the tank.
