  • Here is a special version of the Heartbeat opening credits featuring all the regular characters from the show's 18 year history as well as using the full version of Heartbeat by Nick Berry. Not my best, I know but I might do this again in the future when I've got better resources.

      @@lindakristinekjlibraten777 They didn't exactly appear in the opening credits, which is probably why they weren't included. I don't remember Gina's auntie Mary, must've been from the later series when I stopped watching it. Gina also had a brother, Barry, who only appeared in one episode from series 3. Pity they never brought him back. And Gina's uncle George Ward disappeared at the end of series 6.

      @@lindakristinekjrlibraten5759 Thanks for that, strange I don't remember her, and I was still watching Heartbeat during series 8 and only really stopped watching it after Greengrass left in series 10 or 11. I wonder is she was Uncle George's wife, or was she another aunt of Gina's?. Pity George left as I thought he was a good character, though I felt there was never much for him to do on screen, not much involvement in the storylines apart from occasionally being seen and running the pub. I initially assumed the character or actor died shortly after but the actor who played him went on to appear in two more dramas before he died in 2003, only 53 I think he was. He looked alot older that.

    Everytime they show a photo of the Aidensfield garage it's always Scripps. People seem to forget that garage was originally called Mostyn's garage and funeral services, and it was still named that right up until series 11 apparently. Yet everyone thinks Scripps when they see it. Unless you're a die hard Heartbeat fan who watched it from the very beginning you wouldn't know it had once had a different name.

    • @minanes6549
      @minanes6549 Před rokem

      Even the writers forgot. They did a storyline where a garage invoice going back to the 1940s was needed for evidence, and it had Scripps' garage on it!

    • @Embracing01
      @Embracing01 Před rokem

      @@minanes6549 Which series/episode was that then?. I think they decided to rewrite the background of Scripps half way through the series when he appeared and had basically abandoned the previous history/owner of the garage and hoped viewers wouldn't notice the continuity issue especially, as you point out, when things such as invoices dating back to the 1940s had Scripps' name on it. It happens alot in TV shows, example being Only Fools and Horses were the later series it mentioned that Del knew Boycie from school which wasn't true as he only knew him as an adult.

    • @minanes6549
      @minanes6549 Před rokem

      @@Embracing01 Now you're asking! Round about after John Duttine joined the show. And Aunt Peggy. Series 15 or 16? When Kerrigan was the village PC. Sub plot was Rosie sorting out years worth of Bernie's invoices; accidentally finding proof that Scripps had dealt with an old car for a farmer whose wife had 'disappeared', back in the 40's.

    Loved Heartbeat, watched it from the very beginning when I was in my teens, my dad got us hooked on it due to him growing up in the 60s. Everything Heartbeat had, the music, countryside, nostalgic (for the rose tinted minds though), classic cars, steam trains, the characters with their drama and some light heartedness. For me Heartbeat was at its best during the Nick Berry and Greengrass years, sadly the later series was terrible IMO, very watered down in the storylines, a far cry from the dark and gritty storylines that were in the first few series, far too much sillyness and comedy ruined for me, not to mention they made far too many episodes and it got tedious and boring. It had to come to an end, despite people wanting it to go on forever and run into the 1970s (that would've been defeating the object). Some seem to like the later series though, maybe because everytime Heartbeat is shown on TV they always repeat the later series. Even the music in the later lacked that 60s feel, probably because of music rights issues.
