    Someone needs to 3D print a tray for Sorin so as to hold all those PS plugs, but with the pin up so he can see which one it is in an instant.

    We have picture!! We have a lot of (internal) customers telling us what we need to do to fix their laptop but 99.99% of the time they're wrong! Especially when they say it will only take us 5 minutes to fix it!! 😎

    Credit to the customer for knowing their limitations and not attempting this themselves. Would have made a far more interesting video dealing with the aftermath though! 😊

    The owner is trully smart. Bought it with a hard disk, you can see there is a sata cable. Usually it only comes with that cable if you choose the spinning disk option.

    I think the MOSFET blew up because there was a temporary short circuit/partial short circuit and given it has a smaller surface area it was the first to break compared to the larger one. It involved heat one way or another and the only way we get that is with a large amount of current. That or something internally broke and the resistance went up, could even possibly be something to do with the gate signal on that MOSFET and the MOSFET was partly open which would make it like one big resistor causing a lot of heat to dissipate across it.

  • @winlose3073
    @winlose3073 Před měsícem

    Yeah it's that phenomenon; that when you don't need something it's all over the place and just when you need it, it entirely vanishes, the same with jobs when you expect something to be easy other faults appear out of nowhere and when you expect it to be harder suddenly it's very simple. Strange world!!!

      He checks if the processor is getting hot. If it is and the current is changing it shows that the laptop is probably alive

    What generates the 25V on the gates of the MOSFETs when the input voltage is only 19V?

    • @ovidiuovidius
      @ovidiuovidius Před měsícem +2

      BQ chip generates 25v at input mosfets gates, BQ is AC power management and battery charging... I don't know how to write in English my grammar leaves much to be desired, sorry!

      A DC-DC converter, a step-up converter, generates the necessary voltage to drive the Gates fully.

    Why it was blown? Well, it is lenovo, it doesn't need a better reason...:) Once I saw a similar fault, on a lenovo actually. Customer had a dog who chew through charging cable. Customer fixed cable with scotch tape and paperclips and strong words. Cable was factually sparking and crackling, shorting and disconnecting. He used it like that for a fey days, until mosfet popped. I believe it was also a second one, but can't remember well. Could have well been a coincidence, but since then i take a long look at a charging ports and cable also..

    Not strange that the battery is only charging with max 1A?

    • @jurgenkruger3932
      @jurgenkruger3932 Před měsícem

      The charging IC controls the delivered current according to the measured voltage of the battery. A deep-discharched battery gets a low input current, it gets a trickle-charge to start the charging and to check whether the battery can accept the delivered electrons or not. If all is fine the charging current raises up to the nominal charging current.

    Sometimes the burnout on the chip is a prfessional painting, not a real hardware burnout. By peeling off the paint, you can check if the chip is really burnt out, or not.
