Such a great video & I love how you refer to your great paint advice as a “hack”!🤣 This is such a good recommendation for keeping Any stained wood pristine before adding a nice brushed finish. I’m going to remember this with my furniture refinishing. Great videos and great talent!

Just used this technique on some oak rails..I attempted to brush and it started wiping of in spots so I stopped and went and got a spray can and it worked great 👍 waiting on another one of your vids

Oh that is so awesome to hear brother! Made my day man! I know there is nothing more frustrating than wiping off the stain on clear coat day. So happy it worked for you! Sorry no videos lately, my wife and I took a 10 day 10year anniversary trip, so we are just getting caught up and we'll put up a couple I shot before we left. Thanks again for the feedback 👊💪🙏

I know brother! My bad!! I did this job about 10 days ago, but I was waiting for the install to hopefully get a good pic...sorry brother 🙏 definitely a great trick I learned the hard way, I hope it helps next time you have something like it! Always drives me crazy when I would mess up my stain! Thanks for the comment 👍🙏

Thanks so much Michael 🙏 I appreciate it! Yes I believe this one was a fast dry urethane solvent base. I have had good luck with this product as long as you do 2 good coats, I also like the marinespar varnish. Seems to be a very durable finish. thanks for the comment 👍

Informative video especially for a rookie painter like myself. I have the same type of stair system with 3" thick red oak stair treads that i'm staining to match wood floor. After stain, do i lightly sand tread then spray the sealer or spray sealer over non-sanded stain? What did you do to further seal the tread as you mentioned BONA? I saw you picked up the minwax poly as if you were going to brush that on to seal tread. What was your process to finish out the sealing and ready for install?

Hello Scott, thanks for the comment 👍 So I always like to find a compatible sealer that has a spray can version too. I wouldn't sand after stain, I would just hit a light coat of sealer from a rattle can first, that will keep your stain in place, so once the first coat of sealer is dry, then do the light sand to open back up the pours, and then you can start building the final.coats and more of a finished product. But the spray can is a great trick to lock in the stain color, so then you can sand and make smooth. then u can brush or continue spraying. Thanks for the comment 👍🙏 let me know if you have any other questions

I'm a hardwood floor man, been doing floors for about 35 years and I believe that you're going to take away a lot of the durability by using the aerosol can because it does not have a solid content enough to take the abuse that stair treads suffers. Just saying.

Good video, but I get so tired of everybody say "here's some tips and tricks" or "here's a little hack".

Thanks for that feedback 👍. We are so new to CZcams and just getting the feel for what works and what doesn't so we truly appreciate you letting us know that titles like this come across as nails on a chalkboard. No more "tips and tricks"!
