  • In this video I teach you the basic wires a 7.3 #idi idi diesel needs to start and run. we hotwire the fuel shut off solenoid. Use a jumper wire to cycle the glowplugs. Then arc the starter solenoid to start the ford f250 truck. I did this week's video during a wildfire that took about 6 houses and burned many acres around my small eastern washington town. Lind washington is where I call home. please send prayers uo in support of our town and the families effected by this fire started by a combine in a wheat field. Aspie, I know this videos getting to be a bit old, but I wanted to stop by and say from watching all your videos, I've successfully bought a 1992 F-250 7.3 5-Speed and got it back running and driving in no time thanks to all your help! All the things you teach are straight forward and packed full of useful knowledge. I was super rusty with this platform as I hadn't had one in years. Appreciate it a lot!!!

      @Johnson Dave There is a green with red stripe wire that goes to the alternator. That wire gets positive power with the key on. So if you had to hotwire the rest of the truck, I would start their. Glad the information helped you out. God bless

    Could you tell me why my new starter is engaging when connecting my battery?

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Pƙed rokem

      I would check the wiring on the starter, the power lug might be twisted a little so it is touching the solonoid part and turning the starter on. If that is good, check the solonoid on the passenger side fender, it might be stuck on. Or the ignition is stuck. Pick up a test light, it will be your best friend chasing down an electrical issue. They are under $5 and well worth the investment.

    Great video. I'm not getting any power with the key on to the glow plug relay, fss or the trans position sensor. Any thought? I haven't checked the neutral safety switch

    • @worthshop
      @worthshop  Pƙed rokem +1

      Firest place I would start is the passenger side fenderwell there is a plug between body and engine harness. That plug gets old corroded and don't allow power through. It can melt catch fire or any number of issues. Thanks for watching, good luck with your project, and God bless.

    • @LocoCanada
      @LocoCanada Pƙed rokem

      @@worthshop Thanks for the reply. I checked that and the fusible links on the solonoid/relay. Being a 92 I checked the fuse block under the hood and found a burnt 20 amo maxi fuse in slot k.
