Ben C. Rex Zockt that's right. And he also missed Terraria, which has a very complex fishing system where you can get important items like weapons and crates while fishing. It also has angler quests, where you get a specific fish in a certain biome and are rewarded with useful equipment.
Let's not forget that you can fight an endgame boss by fishing, who puts up a good fight against the player.

The fishing minigame in the 3DS pre-installed AR games (a video about them would be great) was actually quite interesting because it wasn‘t just AR and had numerous references to other Nintendo games, but the background over which you hold your 3DS had an impact on the fish you would eventually catch.
Try it yourself, it‘s more fun than it sounds like.

The trick to getting Froggy to bite quickly is to put the lure in front of him, then move it side to side, but have it angled so that it is perpendicular to him. Worked for me, anyway. Raised the chances of a bite to like 30% in my opinion.

Best thing about fishing is getting together a party of four-plus people, bringing some old handheld Zelda Oracle games on the GBC, maybe a couple magazines or books, and then driving halfway across the countryside with a family member to pick up snacks and drinks for the rest of the group, while you while away an entire summer day.
Gaming and fishing can truly go hand-in-hand.
Stardew Valley did a pretty good job in my opinion since it didn't just make "Press A at a certain moment" and also Fantasy Life did something similar to FF but more simple

I've found that luigi's mansion dark moon is kinda like a fishing game
1: you can't find the ghosts (fish) in case you have the dark light (tracker)
2: it takes for ever to catch the ghosts (fish) in the harder levels
3: you have to constantly move the analog stick (fishing rod) to reel in the ghost (fish)
Fishing as big the cat was probably the best experience I’ve had in my life.

And then I wasn't too bad at it!

Big's fishing gets MUCH easier with the rod and lure upgrades, I would recommend only doing the stages after you get them

Why is the first game that comes to mind when I think of fishing games Sonic Adventure?
Because its the fishing adventure worth a damn. All these other games have you fishing in lakes, but sonic adventure has you fishing in the god of destruction.

Did you work on animal crossing?
Majora's Mask 3D and FFXV are my favorite fishing minigames. Caught all the legendary fish in MM3D and did all fishing sidequests and caught the Liege of the Lake in FFXV. Had a great time, fishing can be a fun distraction from the normal gameplay when it's implemented correctly.

I'm not sure if this video came after or before the sea of thieves update that gave it fishing but I find it to be my favorite fishing minigame because of it quick and reward because you get to hold, cook, and eat the fish deliciously!

Am I the only one who really really love Ultimate Angler from the Streetpass games? It's my favourite fishinng game of all time!! The calm nature graphics, the hundreds of fishes that you can catch, the skill involved in the gameplay, AND THE MUSIC!! The music is the best thing in the game. It is easily the most relaxing soundtrack I've ever heard!
I remember spending a lot of time at the fishing hole in Twilight Princess. My dad would watch me play, and it was probably the only time he "got" a video game other than when we played Wii Sports golf.

I remember Harvest Moon fishing. Just cast, wait, hit the button at the right time or you miss the fish. Stardew Valley is pretty active too with the fishing, but a lot of people of course don't pursue doing it because they could do something else with their time in a day. I like fishing in it though.
I had rapala pro bass fishing game on my Wii but there was another Wii fishing game that was so much more fun. I’m suprised you didn’t mention it, it’s called rapala Wii fish and it had like 24 different areas to fish and it was all in all just crazy
