    Great podcast. I am in my 80th yr. and started intermittent fasting 7 months ago with a 20hrs fasting&4hrs eating window, am a vegetarian, switched to millets, cut out dairy, exercise 6 days a week for min.45 mins, and lost 13 kg. I feel more energetic, am active the whole day and my muscle tone is not compromised after wt. loss, my facial skin is better than a 60 yr old. I spread the msg to many and most get influenced. But loved the way Ryan clarified many aspects answering your very relevant questions Shobha. ❤

    Very High Quality topic is needed now a days. Ryan has explained all the points. Our health is most expensive. Home food is best to consume. Salad should be more than more food. Moreover as per doctors 25% of stomach should be empty. Exercise daily for 30 minutes is helpful. Walking on green grass bare foot for some time also helps a lot. Would request each and every one to subscribe to your channel.

    Please correct your title. Say it's modern Indian eating habits. Elders in my family have portion control, and eat outside barely. Fast regularly in name of God. No exercise schedule but sleep schedule. Touchwood they are all doing good. Esp South Indian eat rice not wheat, fermented foods and yogurt in lunch and dinner.

    Thanks for sharing important information. I am not sure if sharing my experience with you is alright but at your level if something can be done it may help some of the patients. I want to talk about food provided to patients in hospitals is it thoroughly checked and assessed. There is a dietician in the hospital. But food is it cooked under someone's guidance in hospital canteen or is it outsourced. If Idly is outsourced the usage of soda etc. Patient feels bloated after consuming. My very closed one suffered. Specially for senior citizens.
    Why dietician doesn't suggest ragi Kanji..vegetable soup etc
    Which is healthy and easy to digest.

    Ghee is the best saturated fat that will never cause heart problems if consumed alone and in moderation. Indians have been consuming ghee for millenia. Processed food, mainly sugar or carbs are the cause for many metabolic diseases. Simple diet advice would be to eat whole foods, be physically active, and sleep well following circadian rhythm. All the diet and medical jargon will only confuse common people.

    Explain how GHEE more than a table spoon is dangerous for heart health???

    • @celebritynutritionistryan
      @celebritynutritionistryan Před 2 měsíci

      Mitendra Singh Yadav, consultant cardiologist, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi, says ghee is “just another saturated fat" and should be avoided. “There is no nutritional value of milk that is left in the ghee. It is dangerous for adolescents and adults, and more so if you are a heart patient or obese, as it clogs your arteries," says Dr Yadav. “Young children, however, should have ghee as their body needs fats. For the rest, just keep ghee for occasional events," he adds.
      Long shunned as the problem of the developed world, obesity is now extending its flabby arms to developing nations like China and India. According to a report from the UK-based think tank Overseas Development Institute, titled “Future Diets", published in January on its website, 11% people in India are overweight or obese. This makes little sense to Dr Yadav, however. He says, “There is no difference between cow’s ghee and buffalo ghee as both are just saturated fats without any nutrition because all the nutrition is lost during the process of derivation. Since people are exercising less and sitting in front of their computers the whole day, it would be advisable for them to use olive oil as an alternative to ghee."
      Seharawat concurs: “Olive oil retains similar cooking properties to ghee, but is lighter. Also, for people who are lactose intolerant, olive oil can be a great substitute." There are other alternatives as well, like mustard and peanut oil, but people who are obese and have heart problems should opt for olive oil since it is the lightest of all.
