Excellent lesson. I grew up on underground metal, punk, hardcore, shoegaze and have in the last couple of years really tried to learn more about this type of music. It really speaks to me and the soul. Thank you!

1. Hi Mr. Isaac Sereil. I must believe you are an indigenous Congolese, and in particular grew up in DR Congo, in the town of Kinshasa. Your lesson on playing sebene guitar is very interesting I liked it. But, I enjoy a lot of Lingala music from Congo DRC, and in particular live show with lots of sebene ( Ngwasuma).
I would wish to ask you to also do this alongside your video,
1. What is sebene ?
2, What is Gwasuma ? ( key difference between sebene and Gwasuma).
3. On Congolese rhumba guitar, how many styles are there? ( i.e. , Rhythm, Bass, solo, mi-solo, lead guitar,) , with this said, what are the key difference ?
4. Now looking at the guitar you are using. On the divided strips side below the strings, what is the significance of each section? (in simple term, i ask you to explain the whole guitar parts and use of each part.
5 How are the guitar strings tensioned enough for this type of music or it is automatic.
2. Now on the type of guitar or the strings for the guitars, kindly explain the use of each string.
3. I note base guitar looks different from rhythm guitar, explain.
Remember to explain the full parts of a guitar, how to tune it, how to make it ready to use.
For one to start playing a guitar he must know how to handle it , set it, and make ready for congolese tune of guitar.
Many thanks for your voluntary efforts to explain to interested person on guitar.
AND PLEASE VERY IMPORTANT, WHEN EVER YOU POST YOUR LESSON DO INDICATE, SAY LIKE LESSON 1 OF 5 ( # 1 OF 5, or like #2 of 10) ETC, SO INTERESTED FOLLOWER MAY KNOW THAT THERE ARE 5 OF YOUR VIDEOS, OR WHAT EVER NUMBERS OF VIDEOS YOU HAVE POSTED OK. CHEERS KEEP IT UP.
FRANCOIS
. Bonjour M. Isaac Sereil.
CHEERS KEEP IT UP.

explanations are so clear
Some of the lessons here are for beginners. Some techniques are intermediate, like intervals and double stop play. So don't be frustrated if you don't understand all that is being shown here. Follow his pattern and you will sound good, just know you should have 5 or 6 patterns like this to join up with other players. Cuz you will be exposed as that player who can only play one pattern and if they ask you to change you will be exposed.
I`m from Indonesia, seben..nice tune, heart full of joy, thanks anyway
ricky mop thank you and Hi to all the family in Indonesia 😘
Beautiful! I'm a subscriber.
Thanks great sariel.I have tried to follow your guitar vedio.its really wonderful .my problem this time is arpeggio and speed.help me.
Thank you for teaching. There ate differences in guitar playing of Congolese music especially in solos. Can you please show us next time? Hope you understand me.
I have no question. I have learnt all the basic I need for today. I will hopefully send you y video. but am still slow.
Thank you so much mester.. I think it would be nice if you release some pentatonic lessons.
So we can understand what actually happens through the scales.
´cose leaving pathern is kinda difficult in my case..
God bles you isaac
I guess I am going global. Good work, bro. More grease to your elbow.
Wish there's a beginners course on chords fingers placement. Thanks for this great work of urs here
Hi, he is basically using triads and the scales that surround them. If you look up how to do triads on the various string sets it will open everything up to you. The beauty of using triads as your targets are that they are the chord tones so your playing will sound melodic. Best of luck!
Hey men,,i do like your lessons ,they are good and I'm still trying my best to be like you,,from Kenya
Kipla Rono thank you, hi to all the kényan family ! 😘
Isaac upload more guitar lessons please. These lessons have been well explained and can easily be followed. By the way, what effect are you using? Merci beaucoup.

Bonsoir Isaac!

Merci beaucoup. Mes salutations les plus fraternelles. Gil
I love the pathern
Wonderful,,, that's so helpful but you'll have to go a lot bit slow for us to capture fast,,,but anyway..so interesting...
As a beginner, ive learned like 6 chords so can play like 12 progressions... just guessing the numbers. At what stage should i start the solo lessons? I comfortably strum all through the chords.
THE BEST
Mwalimu thanks for good job
Can you teach note combinations, this is all beyond anyone who doesn’t know where the notes are in the first place
Thanks buddy, the video is good and helpful, next video can u Pliz get a backing track drum loops to help with the timing of the lesson when ur playing seben. Have seen some seben drum loops on CZcams. Will try and email you. On the lead can u show the lead progression and chord like 1 4 5 4 progression. Thanks soliste
Yes I am waiting to receive my home studio so I will record some soudntracks and play with drum in the same time. Thanks for your help.
I know nothin' of music theory I'm learning by ear only, I learned how to handle on flamenco tried to do some congolese and it is making me mad, it goes beyond scales it's more about feeling the rhythm .right?
Hi Sr Sariel, what is the scale of seben, i learn miself seben or soukous to, but when i try to play the sound like the same. It the scale mixolidian, eolian,..., ¿what is the scale?, svp.
Nice
"Nice lesson, but its hard to understand especial for beginners coz your got to mention the note names so as we can understand which scale concern with particular notes as can see the pattern and position of scale your Playing seems to be like minor pentatonic position 1. Dont your think its hard when we change a key. Think the position also Will change.
Em from Tanzania
Cheerz.
First of all you have been a good teacher to me as am a beginner but please just try to minimize the speed my bro am begging you
now I understand because I usually play the way my finger leads me..abd now I understand
Yes this is a natural reflex when you learn the different scales, and guitar plan. Just try to avoid it. Stay tuned I will explain more about this point later.
Can you comment on your set up, are you using delay and reverb? What amp and settings?
Keven Ruf I think you haven’t seen my video in which I show my guitar settings 🤔
You will see all my settings with my delay effect 😉
thank u very much,,,what effect is used to get a nice seben sound?
I use a simple Boss delay. I will show you how set your effect depending on the type of pickups you have on your guitar, to have a nice sound.
Oyebi malamu kobina guitar, yo wana oza likolooooo
Sam Kasulwa merci famille to zo meka malembe malembe 🙏🏾☺️
Thanks, I tried to copy your moves but I am struggling with which notes are you exactly playing in each chord! Can you slowly just show us the chord one by one in the piece you played? Thanks
Dr-Ng'umbi Nickson Hassanally I am playing notes from the key so in this case it's from the C major scales. It's up to you to pick the notes that creates the melody you exactly aim to play. Take your time to create that melody.
Thanks for the clarification
Très bon
Sir can you guide me which electric guitar that has 24 frets is good for solo
I suggest Ibanez 24 frets guitars which are pretty good for this African music style ... That’s while awaiting for my guitar brand to be release 🤷🏾♂️😉
Wow thanks for your help sir🙏🙏
hey bro I wish to be tought by you!!!!!!
Isaac good oh, need your Email the one your have given not functional.
Bro oyebi musala merci
do you just play random notes of a major scale? how do you know what notes to play?
Johnson Oyeniran all notes from the major scale can be played but you choose those who give the melody you realy want to create. The more you will practice the more you will be able to choose exactly which note you have/want to play depending on what you want to express.
Help me learn sebben
3:42 😱🔥🔥
Listening
Your lessons are amazing bro. I just wished you were slower and actually showed each note at a time and the position of your fingers. It's tough for a beginner to keep track. But I love your videos.
Ok sorry for the speed I will try to make it slower for the next videos 😉
You can slow the video down and pause where possible
He's playing everything in the key of C maj. Figure that out and this whole lesson will click for you.
