When teenage Messi TERRORIZED Juventus and Fabio Capello

  • In 2005, during the Joan Gamper Trophy, a teenage Lionel Messi terrorized Juventus' defense and midfield, leaving the seasoned Italian side scrambling to contain him. Messi's dazzling dribbles and fearless play forced Juventus to resort to physical tackles, as they struggled to cope with his extraordinary talent. Fabio Capello, Juventus' manager at the time, was left mesmerized by the prodigious skill on display.
So impressed was Capello that he immediately approached Barcelona's manager, Frank Rijkaard, in an attempt to secure Messi on loan. However, Rijkaard, recognizing Messi's immense value, firmly declined. As Capello later remarked, "I wanted to sign Messi 25 minutes after I first saw him." This match foreshadowed the greatness that Messi would achieve, leaving an indelible impression on all who witnessed it.

@@TM-rq5qw Do you know that Maradona was performing at halftime during professional games when he was a little kid? He would show his juggling skills in front of thousands. There are videos of him dominating international matches when he was a teenager.
Maradona's passing was better than anyone else back then, but I do think his passing is pretty terrible for today's standards. That's because, today, they start doing rigorous training when they are little kids. Back then, players took too many risks with their passing. Passing today is much more conservatives and it's about retaining possession unless you're absolutely sure you're going to score. Passing through multiple defenders is something you see every match. Back then, it was rare.
I don't like Maradona as a person. I think he's a shady sc*mbag, but you can't deny that his dribbling was on another level. Messis' technical dribbling isn't even that good. There are a lot of players that are better technically. Messi just has insane acceleration due to shorter legs. Nobody can keep up with him when he cuts back. Maradona had both acceleration and an amazing touch.
If Maradona was playing today, I think he would do much better than Messi. It wouldn't be close.

@@TM-rq5qw No, you've been blinded by your idolatry. Even Ronaldo's touch was better than Messi. Just watch how they trap the ball. Both Ronaldo and Maradona can bring a high ball softly to their feet. When Messi does it, the ball still bounces. Watch clips and you'll see what I mean.

As a Juve fan for over 30 yrs, I remember this game like yesterday. Just FYI, this Juve team were stacked with players like: Buffon, Del Pieoro, Zlatan, Viera, Zambrotta, Camoranesi, Nedved, Thuram, Cannavaor etc. This to me, was one of the top teams I've seen as a Juve fan, before that whole calciopoli mess. But nagh, this game, I knew something was strange. It was not Ronaldinho, In which I waiting to see that magic of his, it was Messi. Something about that guy was just irritating me, I was like, how in the hell are we getting punked by this little man. I was expecting Ronaldinho, but nagh Messi was different. I am glad my team was part of this great story.

There will be players like Yamal who might rule the football in their era and i am happy good wishes for them but Messi is all rounder in the field of football except for not being a goal keeper and main defender. The likes of CR7 and Mbabpe Or Halland are masters of their position but Messi rules in half of the field whenever he plays... Not every player will have that gift. Some might have 2 or 3 ability but Messi will always be above them as dribbler, playmaker, free kick maestro, assister, scorer and above all consistency and humility of the Great Sportsman.

The scariest part is not that he played this good at 18, many people have had that at such a tender age. It's that he played like this from the moment he touched a ball the first time... Now that we have footage of him from 5 years old onwards, not much has changed in his play style, he was always the smallest kid, he always had the best ball control, he had a resilience unlike anybody and was blessed with precision out of this world.
A true natural of the game, you can't teach this, that's why it's close to impossible to attain his level. In many ways he became an inspiration to so many but that's so deceiving because one can simply not learn the things he has done on the pitch, you have to be born for it. This is why it's so unbeliavably fortuitous formthis generation that Cristiano Ronaldo went toe to toe with him because he is much more of a trained product of the game and has shown that you can get close to this, even if you can't reach it.
I'm certainly counting myself blessed to have had the opportunity to watch him throughout his career, chances are I won't see another one in my lifetime. Muchos gracias Leo❤

This was suggested to me right after the final match against Colombia in Copa America 2024, which Argentina won. Is it the end of Messi? Will soccer be enjoyable after he retires? With all the talents around the world right now, I do not think we will see a talent of Messi's class, with all respect, of course, to the others.

This video bring tears to my eyes... I saw this game. Heard at that time a little bit about a wonder kid at La Masia but seeing that game , it was like I watched the God of football. I was sure that that kid would be the best football player in history. Comparing others with him is useless. This is talent , a gift from God. You can not achieve this level even with hard work... I never understood also the comparison with Ronaldo. Ronaldo = hard work = records. Messi was born with that talent. Thankful to be contemporary with him...

Baby mesi was something. xthe first game of hiom a saw was against chelsea. it's because of him a start looking after la liga, i'm a liverpool fan. but the first 5min, you thing maybe it's luck, the next you thing it's clearly luck, but he have talent, the next you really know that you don't know!! at the last 5 8 years he walk a lot but by the time he was from minute 1 running like crazy!! he was on constant mouvement, never tired, all the time dribbling, "la pulga atomica" was his nickname. on 5 6 minutes messi was already sweating maknig run EVERYWHERE, making always the good controle, the good pass, being incredibly fast with the ball, he had only two problems: somethimes the choice were'nt good and he was't scoring some very good opportunity. The most impressive thing on his devellopement for me was his goal scoring hability.. we all know since the debut that he was above much of the players, but a never imagine that he'll gonna acheive and be that player!!
