Never re-memorize Joseki again! In this Go / Baduk lesson series I use Go concepts, metaphors and so forth to explain Joseki in depth, move-by-move, so you can truly understand the moves instead of memorizing them.
My goal is to explain Joseki to you in a way no one has; I won't gloss over the details or show you sequences without proper explanations. Instead, I'll be using every chance I get to explain exactly what's happening move-by-move, exchange-by-exchange using core Go / Baduk concepts and relatable analogies and metaphors. These videos will give you the confidence and mental frameworks to navigate unique board situations on your own!
Understand, don't remember! You can't play interesting, thoughtful Baduk or keep improving without fresh, innovative thinking! If you're busy trying to remember joseki moves and making sure you're "doing it right", it'll just end up being wrong for the unique board situation anyway; you'll lose chances for flexible, innovative moves and eventually, you may even stop getting stronger. You should be reading things on the board constantly (even in the opening / fuseki stage!) and always thinking of whole-board concerns such as direction, getting sente, local sacrifice for a whole-board advantage etc...!
Thanks for watching! Let me know in the COMMENTS any questions, suggestions, requests, parts that helped you or any other comments you may have and LIKE/SUBSCRIBE/SHARE if you'd like to see more and support the channel! =)

Sometimes my weekly output is still inconsistent, in this case due to being busy with a bunch of things related to my big "full-time" announcement, as well as some IRL stuff this week. Generally though as of now, it should be 1-3 videos per week, and I expect to be doing minimum 2+ per week in the coming weeks!
      Thanks for watching,
      Ben

Hey Guys! This one is JAM-PACKED (!!!) with knowledge on why pros and high-dan amateurs prefer the knight's move enclosure for the star point as opposed to anything larger, and all kinds of ways to deal with that enclosed corner position as the other player! The beginning of the video shows you the 3-3 invasion joseki for invading 4-4 + large knight's move.
This video was going to be another 5-6 minute episode of 'BADUK in FIVE!", but there were just so many things I wanted to show you guys that I had to make it longer and move it into the 'Joseki Concepts' series :) I really think you guys can use this to power up your game! These variations are EXTREEEEEEMELY practical, they're relevant to almost every game I play!
Go ahead and ask questions, answer others' questions, have me elaborate on things, and of course let me know what you think and what you'd like next! =)

A lot of the times I just have no idea the meaning behind anything, and I'm just playing without improving, kind of make me not want to play any more. Explanations like this makes the game a lot more interesting to me again

    1. This topic is about star point knight's shimari (corner enclosure); will there be topics about other star point shimari's? Namely large knight, jump, and large jump. (For some unknown reason, the book "AI Go Joseki Dictionary" published in Sep. 2021 doesn't include the shimaris for star point, strangely enough, 3-4 point's shimaris are included.)
    2. In this video, not only josekis proper but also invasion and post-joseki follow-up variations are covered, choices to make are clearly explained. This way of presentation makes the knowledge learned easier to use in actual games.

Yes, I'll make some videos on those other enclosures! I've already done a little prep for a video on the 3-4 enclosures and how to invade/do things to them, so I'll get around to that in the near future and then cover more 4-4 enclosures as well.

Nice, thanks! As for content ideas: I find it hard to start looking at joseki's systematically. There are so many of them, I don't know where to start and I don't feel I benefit from learning them by heart. Having some kind of organized curriculum I can follow and study would be awesome. The point would be to have someone experienced chose those that are useful and instructive for relative beginners (DDK and SDK) and teach them in your kind of 5-10 minute videos. That would be so frigging amazing. Let's say the complete course would have : 3 joseki for the 4-4 point, 3 for the 3-4 point, 3 for small knight, 3 for large knight, one basic lesson about the god-cursed 3-3 invasion; and maybe a couple of mid games joseki. Ah, and also some intermittent sections looking at general concepts we can now understand better ... and all of that reliably once a week and of course for free please *blusheslookingforthepatreonlink

      Hello!
Missed this comment. Thanks for the ideas and feedback, sounds great!
Much of what you're asking for is in the works :D For example, I have plans to build 'learning track' playlists (eg. for beginners, for certain level to certain level, joseki-only learning tracks etc.). Regarding my upload schedule (frequency and consistency...) I guarantee you it's going to be in good shape in a few weeks. I'm currently getting some background work done in preparation for being able to commit to weekly upload days/times (and an official streaming schedule on Twitch). On aspect for example is building up my backlog of videos so I can be ahead and actually guarantee that schedule.
It's all coming soon and I'm really excited to make that transition! Thanks for the ideas and feedback! As for Patreon, that's coming soon too! Thank you for your interest in supporting me that way =)

What's your Go level? Do you think this particular video was too fast-paced, too much info, just right...? Would love to hear what you think :) I'm not sure yet if this one is well-received, but I do plan to make more like the last one ('Baduk in Five') that are 5-6 minutes and focused on a single technique.

I was going to make this another 5-6 minute one, but then there were so many things I wanted to show xD
I guess this is kind of a quick "primer" for the 4-4 knight's move enclosure.
