  • The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication's Reilly Center for Media & Public Affairs commemorated the 40th anniversary of one of the most infamous moments in the country's political history, the 1972 Watergate break-in, by hosting "Inside Watergate: A Retrospective on the Watergate Scandal and Its Coverage -- 40 Years Later." The symposium, which was held in the Journalism Building's Holliday Forum, hosted two key figures in the Watergate investigation -- former Washington Post editor Barry Sussman and former federal prosecutor Earl J. Silbert, as well as Max Holland, author of the book "Leak: Why Mark Felt Became Deep Throat."
The three, along with Reilly Center Director Bob Mann, discussed how Watergate changed and influenced Washington, D.C., politics at the time, and its legacy for the American people.

The ONLY person who got no recognition for the major part they played in the Watergate break in is the Black Man who discovered that there was something wrong and called the Police. He is not mentioned What-So-Ever. His name was Frank Wills.

He hated his involvement, and avoided any requests for interviews

What's the important factor here, that he was the one who called the police or that he was black?

It’s amazing how people leaving comments can’t spell to save their lives.
And we’re not talking about complicated or obscure words.

Is this some kind of ridiculous Nixon white wash attempt?

If it wasn't for Watergate, Woodward and Bernstein would be running a car wash!!

You are 100% right. As the years go by, Nixon has becomes worse and worse as they try to remain relevant, particularly Bernstein. To Bernstein, Nixon was Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot and Charles Manson all wrapped up into one. Whatever they believe they did to expose Watergate was a matter of investigation knowledge anyway. WAPO or not, it was over for the Nixon Admin.

@@Retroscoop not that complex .. it's like a white person being married with a black person but every now and then calling someone a nggr lol I've never seen or heard the exact comments so I can't say for sure, but it was probably that he had some animosity with jews I guess but he didn't necessarily hate them or all of them anyways

I agree with this 100%. This panel seemed like a group of journalists that got scooped in 1972 and still have hard feelings toward Woodward & Bernstein.

      Dean G
Earl Silbert ran the investigation, how did he get beat by W&B? And Barry Sussman worked with W&B, so how was he scooped? Your logic is inconsistent. Sorry.
