The CCP and PPS **are** made by two different companies. The CCP is made by Umarex in their plant and the PPS is made by Walther in their plant in Ulm, where all the classic, excellent Walthers are made (PPQ, P99, etc). The CCP simply isn't as high a quality gun in materials, fit or finish.

What a GREAT review. No frills, no nonsense. Told me what I needed to know (including a comparison of the WIDTH). I am looking at a pistol to wear IWB, and the PPS seems to fill the bill. THIS video should be the standard against which all the others should be measured! I think I will order the LE edition because of the slightly longer grip/increased mag capacity. The CCP is also excellent, but I am looking for a "skinnier" pistol for IWB carry.

I have the CCP M2. No complaints. It feels great in my hands and shoot fast and accurate. As for concealment, I carry in OWB in the Kydex holster from R&R and it hides well but it also fits in my jeans back pocket holster included. As for a trigger pull, I used to carry an HK P2000 DAO and a Beretta M96 DAO before the HK as a USCBP officer and they also had a long reset but it is a matter of training to shoot it fast. We were required to shoot 3 rounds in 2 seconds one handed from the holster as part of our qualification back when I was with the agency. Those were bigger guns both in size and caliber (40SW) specially the M96 with a 3/4" trigger travel. Once you get your hands and brain used to it you will have no problems with a compact gun like the CCP. It is compact but not too small, just the right size.

I carried the PPS M2 for a couple of years and loved it. It was completely reliable and accurate. I recently replaced it with a Sig P365 (now that the bugs have been worked out) because of the greater capacity in a smaller size. There is a downside to the CCP that isn't mentioned in the video, and that's how dirty it runs. The blowback design itself runs dirty and the addition of the piston really mucks things up after only a hundred rounds or so. So, if you chose the CCP you've got to keep it clean... after every range trip.

both are good guns as I have had the chance to shoot both. The PPS M2 is a real under rated gun...it is my daily CCW pistol. It is reliable with all JHP, coated, and FMJ ammo I have put thru it. The original model PPS is what my son uses as his CCW pistol. Walther makes great guns and I highly recommend you check them out if you are looking for a single stack 9mm pistol. Oh, and I do not work for Walther either :) Thanks for another great video.

People complain about the takedown procedure for the CCP but after you’ve done it a few times it’s no different than taking down any other pistol. You don’t need the provided tool to disassemble the pistol;any pointy tool will do. I like the ergonomics on the CCP better - it just melts into my hand. And my wife likes the fact that the CCP is easy to rack. Both are great pistols.

Thanks, excellent review, fortunately we live in an era with an unbelievable number of rather similar - and outstanding - handgun options, and these autoloaders certainly should be included in that group. I prefer the fixed barrel CCP M2, solely because static barrel designs have inherent accuracy advantages, but for average marksmen - like me - the increment is probably inconsequential.

I had a PPS m2...was ok...I moved on. I was looking at the CCP m2 for a while but they seem to be ammo picky and I also didn't like the trigger.
One thing I noticed when looking at the CCP was that the slide had to be completely pulled back to re-cock the striker, which is what seems to make it ammo picky...some rounds short stroke the slide, which on a normal gun wouldn't be an issue (spent round ejects and new round is loaded in chamber, but striker isn't reset).
See Graham Baates review if you want to see what I'm talking about.

I love the trigger and think in this size range it's the best. I find the PPS to be very accurate also. I usually use the 8 round mag as I don't have a problem with conceal caring it. I later bought a Creed and PPQ M2. You can't beat Walther ergos. My wife likes the PPS for the fit in her hand. Racking it is too much for her. Maybe she needs the CCP M2?

Funny you are doing this video I’ve kinda wondered what the difference was. My wife has the original ccp which she was sold on the grip and the ease of racking it. Which I think the new smith and Wesson 380 m&p is probably the easiest slide I’ve ever operated almost feels like a BB gun or something when charging the gun

A few months ago I purchased the CCP in 380 ACP. It was an easy shooter, but I decided that even with my hand loaded rounds I wanted more stopping power in a concealed carry pistol so I returned the 380 and purchased the CCP in 9mm. It shoots fine, but after a few months and a few hundred rounds I find that my dominant hand is a bit scrunched up into the trigger guard when I hold the pistol firmly, and it hurts. I have big but not fat hands, I usually wear an XL glove. I purchased the PPQ and that is the sweetest shooter I've ever fired, so that one's being kept at home and it's a keeper. At the range where I shoot they had the PPS M2 and the Glock 43x so I decided to shoot those just be thorough in my search and was I surprised. I expected the Glock to be the superior shooter and was very disappointed in the muzzle flip I was experiencing. So I swapped out to the PPS and wow I was in shock. It's a few ounces heavier than the Glock, even with the 7 round magazine, but it shoots almost as easily as the PPQ. Less muzzle flip, manageable recoil, and a trigger that just cries out "squeeze me". I put about 25 rounds thru the PPS and no hand scrunch, it felt good, I was accurate and had no trouble keeping double taps in the center mass area of my target. I did some research on the 2 pistols because my CCP has an annoying tick when I go to activate the slide while the striker is charged. This tick does not occur when the striker is not charged and I'm certain it's something to do with the striker safety and not the blowback piston. I don't like the jiggle that the pistol makes and I don't feel the pistol has the same level of manufacturing quality that the PPQ or the PPS has. Keep in mind that the CCP is made at the Arnsberg Umarex plant while the PPQ and PPS are manufactured at the Ulm plant. From what I hear on the forums I'm not the only one to feel like the Arnsberg plant isn't quite up to the standards of the Ulm plant. So my PPS is due in Wednesday and I'm going to put my CCP up for sale on GunBroker after I have an independent gunsmith take a look at it. When I sent it back to Walther they told me that many of their pistols make that tick sound, honestly, I think they're full of kaka. FYI I paid $25 less for the PPS than the CCP, and I have the LE edition of the PPS coming. My advice is always to fire a pistol before you buy one, but I'll bet my life on the PPS and not the CCP. If the independent gunsmith agrees Walther may regret having me as a customer before I'm done. Scootch, thanks for another great comparison video.

The PPS and PPQ M1 are two of the best 9mm guns I've ever had or fired. The PPS perfect for summer carry and the PPQ for winter/nighttime. Absolutely adore both guns but the PPQ is the tack-driver at distance with that amazing trigger. The CCP isn't a true Walther. It is manufactured at the Umarex plant (the airsoft factory) the parent company to Walther. It's no wonder you don't like the CCP as much. It does have a following, but I'm not sure why. The trigger blows, and the quality just isn't there. It's not a service quality weapon whereas the PPQ and PPS are both battle-tested. Also there used to be a video up that detailed why the CCP has a number of very concerning design flaws that could cause catastrophic failures. Not sure if it's still up.

I never heard anyone talk about the long reset on the CCP before but you can clearly see it. I'm still buying one soon. I already own three Walthers so far. I first purchased the PPS M2, Creed and recently the PPQ Navy SD.

Hello this is Ted from Texas. I notice you do a lot of reviews on semi autos. Do you ever do reviews on revolvers? I have a Ruger LCR 357 Magnum. And notice that it has a long take up after the shot. It feels it feels to have a long take up. But I think it's just the way it is. Keep making good CZcams videos and I'll keep watching. Thank you.

I carry the Shield during the hot weather months, but a touch of arthritis in the knuckle joint of my left thumb is starting to make slingshotting the Shield's rather stiff slide kind of painful, I think if it gets much worse, I'll take a close look at the CCP.

To often do y'all fantastic gun reviewers have lots of good shooting footage but a serious lack of how these weapons are carried. Just food for thought. Keep up the good work

anytime you get a Walter I would recommend going online and getting a steel recoil rod in the spring of the recoil rotten springs are made together in a single piece together and you can get a really nice. It's from Lakeline LLC, I only paid $35(after shipping) and it’s fucking fantastic. It takes the only negative about Walther's and turns it around into the perfect gun. My Walther PPQ-SC 9mm is fucking amazing, it cerakoted and fully geeked out. The recoil spring/guide rod is fucking great. It comes ready to rock right out of box(bag literally, but you get me)
It took about a week, maybe a week and a half to get to me. Immediately made recoil much smoother, with the plastic(original) one it bends on every recoil. So it's just safer, I've had many friends whose original rods broken or shattered on them. So always get the steel ones. Btw not all Walther guns have the plastic. I think it's only PPQ'S, CCP's, PPS's, and a couple others. That should be it, I know PPK's and the more classics guns don't have them.

Walther- I don’t like the cheap feeling slides. While at the LGS, I offered a couple different models for my wife to check out. She replied; They feel good in my hand but I don’t like the slide. Me: Why? What’s wrong with it? Wife: It doesn’t feel durable, rather cheap. Me: Well, it appears we agree upon something. Also, neither of us liked the Canik TP9SF because the barrel rattles when you shake the firearm. She went home with the Beretta M9A3 and I went home disappointed (they only had one)☹️.
