I carry the original CCP. Looking forward to picking up the new M2 version for class use. Thanks for the great review. I appreciate your very professional, informative review.

    Severe arthritis had me looking for an alternative to my G23. While simply shopping around, a CCP lept from the case, threw me to the ground and made me take it home.

    I had considered purchasing the original CCP, but passed on it because it required a Dyngus. I was not aware that they had retrofitted this pistol. It’s a much better price alternative to the H&K P7 that sells for about 3500 dollars. I’m glad that it is still a well kept secret on how fantastic this pistol is. I’m ecstatic that I ran into this older video.

    The original CCP is the most ergonomic pistol I have ever handled. It’s extremely easy to rack and in fact my wife uses it as her primary carry. It’s a great shooter. The only real problem with it was the takedown. It was a pain in the butt to field strip and especially to put back together. Now that they’ve modified the take down procedure I will be buying a new CCP M2.

      I'm looking for my wife's first handgun. So far, it has been a tie between the Smith EZ and the CCP M2, but I'm leaning toward the CCP after watching Sootch's video. Have you had a chance to shoot yours yet?

    • @Trad-Mom
      @Trad-Mom Před 2 měsíci +3

      @floorpizza8074 Yes! It's definitely smooth. My favorite "womans" handgun so far. I only wish it had the option of larger magazines, but thinking about that, it wouldn't be too practical for a gun that size to have larger magz anyways. It's for self-defense mostly, not shooting practice. It just gives you more practice quickly exchanging magz and very accurate even from a distance if you have any skill level. It's just fun to shoot! You do have to almost completely let off the trigger each time you fire as most of these videos will tell you, but to me, that's good practice anyway. My husband got it as a mothers day gift for me and I couldn't be happier with it. My woman's sized hand really grips the handle like sliding on a perfect fitting pair of gloves. Easy to rack, too. I also like how it doesn't have that front barrel "safety feature" some lesser handguns have (like my ones that are legal in Commifornia-where if its being pressed against it wont fire) if someone is on top of me trying to victimize me I want to fill them with holes 🙌🏽 I have nothing but good things to say about it! I bet your wife would love it!

      @@Trad-Mom Hey, just thought I'd give you an update... she fell in love with two guns... The CCP M2 in 380, and the Glock 42. Since I already have a G42 as one of my daily carry guns, she decided to go with the CCP M2, as long as I agreed to swap out with her from time to time, depending on which gun filled her need for the day better; the G42 is quite a bit smaller.

    I had a chance to shoot a recent manufacture first-gen CCP not long ago, and it is a surprisingly good pistol. I fills a nice in size between the PPS, Shield, XDs size and a Glock 19, is very accurate, and quite soft shooting. I do agree about the sights being a little small (particularly for my old eyes), but I find that throughout the Walther line.

  • @handiediver
    @handiediver Před 6 lety +4

    Great review of a fun little pistol. I'm an HK P7M8 user for the past 30 years so I have followed this CCP pistol because of my interest in the gas delay system. I was happy that some company finally picked up that concept. I think the gas delay system is great in the P7, I have always loved it. My only small criticism of the video is that at 14:30 you say "Recoil guide rod". It is actually the gas delay piston. Yes, this design isn't really meant for shooting more than 100 rounds at a time because of that heat build up but that system does help with accuracy. Sorry about the long reset. Nice to see the gas delay system find a polymer frame (not that the P7 was ever a problem, easily the most concealable 9mm ever; wish they still made it). For the life of me I just can't imagine anyone ever using that frame mounted safety, too bad we can't just remove it. The extra tool included in the package (you show at the 16 minute mark) is for removing that gas piston. With all three of my P7 pistols, over thirty years, I've never had to remove a gas piston. The owner's manual for the CCP says the only time a person would need to remove the gas piston is to change the front sight, which I've never had to do on a P7. Great review Sootch, thanks.

      @Gieszkanne Před 2 lety

      He is also wrong with the claim that it has soft recoil. The gas delay system produce rather a sharp harsh recoil compared to the browning tilting barrel system.

    I agree with most of the comments, my favorite carry from all the other compacts that I own. I’ve had mine for about a year and half. I don’t agree with the fact that the heat it generates is not to bad. At around 100 rounds it start getting really hot where you have to let it cool off before you continue.

    I literally went out to buy one of these.
    I love this pistol - outstanding ergonomics, striker fired, thumb safety, perfect conceal carry size, .380 or 9mm, established Walther quality.
    BUT:
    Right hand only thumb safety?
    No optics cut?
    I could have lived with the right hand only safety; but the lack of an optics option killed the deal (yes, I searched for someone to mill the slide..could not find even ONE - and Walther made no referral when I contacted them).
    I then tested out the the Sig P365xl and Springfield Hellcat Pro.
    I bought the Sig 🤷‍♂️

    So I have the original CCP when they first came out and it is and absolutely phenomenal self defense weapon. Fixed barrel for more accuracy It has a piston system for less recoil and when the safety is on it removes the firing pin so if you were to drop the gun with one in the chamber it will not fire when the safety is on. Accuracy is unbelievable for this little handgun it makes me look like a pro when shooting. I’ve shot it up 25 yards away it was very accurate. Easy to carry its slim and light even when fully loaded. Great for self defenseBecause it is not a long canon That is uncomfortable to carry and you don’t notice it when it’s on u. I would highly recommend this handgun!!!!!

    Interesting. Maybe I'll get the old one and try it again.... The main issue is that strange takedown and most important: size. 8rds and it's almost the size of that G19! plus the weird safety.....for that....I stay w G19. Agree it's an interesting system and very accurate. They run dirty inside....which forces you to clean it if you want it to run smooth (opposite of piston rifles)

    I really enjoyed your video on the Walter CCP M2 and it is going to be my next firearms purchase. I have hand strenght problems due to injuries and have trouble racking the slides on most semi-auto pistols. The Walher seems to be just what I need to keep enjoying my shooting sport. Thank you for the GREAT review on this firearm!!!

    Interesting my father had a H&k p7 m8 and that is in my opinion the greatest self defense pistol of all time and this is similar but the h&k had a dual ejector Incase the first one failed every round you fired had the rim of the casing chewed up they just grip it and fling it out but I also remember that after 15 rounds the trigger was so hot you had to walk away and wait for it to cool down before you could shoot again due to steel trigger but it’s awsome to see this design again it’s a interesting mechanical design

    Great review ,I Wanted the original ccp but did not buy it for the awful take down and trigger reset, Now they corrected the take down but Why did they not correct the trigger reset and have a trigger like the ppq ,it just doesn't make any sense , It would be a Perfect gun ,,But I still like it and would consider buying one

      I agree with you, wish it was like the ppq, I don't think I would want to struggle to get that piston and spring back in. I am looking as I said above-I want something with low recoil (wishing in one hand...and crapping in the other.) If I could would go with a .22/.25
      The grip on Walthers are just wonderful.

    My wife has the original CCP and it’s a picky. It likes ammo on the hotter side. Just not reliable enough for me for her to carry so she now has 380EZ Shield which she loves. I have heard others say the same thing. It will run 124GR Winchester white box the NATO stuff all day. As her G1 is such a picky gun I won’t even consider the M2. The breakdown is no big deal to me or my wife. As always great review and great video.

    Is the trigger able to be improved by a gunsmith? Particularly, the length of the reset? Is like that shortened and if there is a flat-faced trigger, that would be icing on the cake

    I have really loved shooting the Walther single stacks. They have great triggers and recoil. The CCP 2 having a much easier takedown is great! This definitely merits looking into.
    Their full size pistols have a bore axis which is too high and don't seem to really be worth it, but I love their small pistols

    kind of reminds me of the Hi point except you don't have the pin you have to knock out to get it a part. when you get it a part, the insides remind mind of the Hi Points handgun too accept
    you don't have the little gas tube below the barrel. The Hi Points slide is probably heavier.

    Just so everyone knows, this shit won’t feed the 8th if it’s a hollow point, hornady critical duty is the only round it will feed consistent, not even ball consistently. Galloway mag extensions do not work as the feed issue just gets worse past 8 rounds. Like, get your flathead and try and wedge the bullet out worse. About to let my dremel have at it

    As far as specs go it’s not far off from a Glock 19 in terms of size and weight. Even being a single stack with 8 rounds I don’t believe the grip is much thinner if at all and it’s taller. But I do dig the look and the external safety.
