The Braves were high on Tyler Houston, who was selected 2nd overall in 1989, behind Ben McDonald of the Orioles. But, bad attitude and lack of production, pushed Tyler down the pecking order of Braves prospects. Eventually, Javy Lopez surpassed Tyler as the top-catching prospect in the Braves organization. And, of course, Javy was an All-Star player.

Included in the Jeff Jackson club are Paul Coleman and Earl Cunningham all HS athletic outfielders drafted around Frank Thomas by NL East teams. Seth was one of the best players over multiple Call of Duties & one of the more popular CZcamsrs for the games. Still active in the COD community having live streams for major events. His dad was talked about a lot in vlogs from a CZcamsr named H3cz, always calling him a former professional baseball player. As a Phillies fan, unfortunately I do remember Jeff Jackson. Most of the Phillies 1st round picks in the 1980s were busts, although some had cups of coffee in the majors, sometimes with other teams. 1981 pick Johnny Abrego, whose brief MLB time was with the Cubs, had only 1 big league win. It was against the Phillies.

The 1980s Oakland A's absolutely destroyed the careers of every pitcher they drafted. Mike Morgan, Rick Langford, Mike Norris, Steve McCatty, Mike King, Stan Hilton, and Tim Belcher were all ruined by the coaching staff of the early Billy Martin Oakland A's. The amount of inning these starting pitchers were forced to pitch was unrealistic. The A's didn't believe in relief pitching in the 1980s, and expected their pitchers to throw complete games. The A's should have won 5 World Series in the 1980s.

I'll never forget the 1989 draft. The Phillies had the 4th pick in the draft. Do they draft Frank Thomas who's sitting there doing nothing? Nope. They take high school kid Jeff Jackson. Jackson never made it past AA. Everyone knows that the draft is a crap shoot but Frank Thomas was a can't miss once in a generation player. I can't help but think about Thomas hitting in The Vet. He would have been a perennial 50 home run hitter in that stadium.
