- Happy Halloween! The House of Fallen Trees has been looming ominously in the distance ever since I started up my renovation of Downtown. I've been intimidated, but time had come to attack; and what better time to do it than around Halloween?

Oh, also, I said it differently in the video because I preferred it that way, but Gvaudoin's name is actually more accurately pronounced "vo-dwahn"

I speak French as a first language and I subconsciously read "Tricou" in the French pronunciation so it's always weird to hear it in English lol.
I bet! I feel the same way hearing other simmers pronounce the name Beau in american english (like "bow" and arrow). Being european, I can't compute any other pronounciation than the french one. Also, it's always a treat listening to other people doing their best with the swedish name "Knut" 😂

When I did this lot recently I totally redid the pond lol, I couldn't understand why it was so deep and it seemed completely unnecessary 🤣
A playable school for Downtown will definitely make for some amazing drama. Gossip Girl season 1, eat your heart out! Haha. But seriously, a bunch of rich teens attending a downtown high school does sound like so much fun.

Yeah I can totally see why you would remake that pond - adding in the plants was such a struggle 😂 It is pretty cool seeing the depth of it with the two wooden beams, but that's about it.
Haha yeah I bet it will be very GG S1 meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons 1-3 possibly, that's what I'm hoping anyway. It'll be a lot of fun

This build is STUNNING im in awe I love it and I’m not even halfway through the video! I love everything you said about mixing wood tones and asymmetry, I definitely feel the same way! And I’m obsessed with this kitchen, love the idea of the open counters in front of the window, I always struggle when counters seem like they are gonna have to go in front of a long window lol
I don’t know anything about the downtown premades so I’m really intrigued to see you play them! I can’t wait to see the basement levels! Also where did you get the trees and hedges you used? The landscaping is sooo beautiful!
Thank you so much, Bunny 🥰❤ The counters worked surprisingly well like that - I've struggled with that as well in the past because seeing the back of counters through full length windows is just something I can't stand 😂 But this version, I'll use again for sure!
It'll be a lot of fun playing with them, I can't wait! It'll be fun for me too getting to know them, most of them I know nothing about either.

Wow this is impressive! The fact you pretty much rebuiilt the entire thing to shift it up for the two basement levels, amazing. I'm already veeery curious about the mistery in this family, and I made a point to not look it up so I can figure it out watching the series. The house looks fantastic, it totally has this "old house with modern stuff in it" vibes. Very excited to see this series begin!

Have you thought about addressing the crashed alien spaceship in downtown as part of your story? My personal story for now is that Lakshmi Byall (the blonde female teenager) kinda came from it. That’s based off her appearance in Juno Birches series as Joy Despet lol.
Have you also thought about including the Kim family from the pets expansion in your downtown? I think they make good sense in Strangetown or Downtown. I see them as socialites that would hang around with Mr Big and the Diva when they’re in downtown. And then for Strangetown I imagine them going there once they’re kinda washed up lol.

The Kim family is another one that I have never played with before. I think I'll leave them out for now since I have so many other sims to get to know already, but it's a neat idea. 🤔 I don't often remeber them since they're located in the lot bin and not the family bin. Reading their bio, I can totally see what you mean though, they would suit Downtown perfectly in fact. Now you've got me thinking... ❤

There are so many interesting details to this lot! And it looks absolutely amazing afterwards. 😍 Seeing you tackle a big project like this is almost like a tutorial in not losing patience and finding a way to face those big building projects step by step. Shifting all the floors up was really on another level. (pun intended... badum tss...🤓). I could never! I could hear my brain cracking even watching you do it, let alone do that myself. But it was really cool to see that. Also that boxbed was brilliant, that was such a cool idea! 😍
I can't wait to see what you have in store for us when it comes to the stories around this family! This lot definitely asks for some darker storylines and I can't wait to see what you come up with. ❤ Oh, and I was so glad there was no jump scare at the end with the shaking camera thing... 😅 But it looked really cool too!

This renovation is so gorgeous 💗 it really does look like an old mansion you'd see in New Orleans. I have a similar problem with saving CC where I made a telegram channel for just me & I send myself the links. It's kind of a mess, but it works for me 😂 I'm really looking forward to seeing what's in that basement 👀

Thank you! ❤🥰 That's super encouraging for me knowing you're excited to learn more. I use the lush terrain from Criquette's "Rural Charm", and iCad's edited CuriousB desert terrain. Bizarrely enough, I was so sure that I had a default for my concrete terrain, but after going through my dl folder to answer you, it turns out that I didn't... In that case, the Maxis concrete terrain looks way better than I remember. Nevertheless, I have now downloaded CuriousB's concrete and dirt terrains from the "RadianceSeasons" bundle since I'm pretty sure those are what I've used in the past and have liked. Some links:

This is coming along gorgeously, can't wait to see it in action! I didn't know what I was even seeing in the first part, you're a wiz with the cfe cheat and its still a mystery to me. I'd have been tempted to build from scratch on a new lot to make such structural changes but there's definitely some unique code for this lot since apparently its always dark! So I'll have to bare that in mind if I ever want to renovate it, definitely worth keeping the original lot, and probably just not brave such changes lol! Still got about 15mins left but before I forget, for one thing, do you think you could link to the auto light fireplaces mod? That sounds like something I would like to use. I just had a google for it and actually found people asking for mods to stop sims autonomously lighting them, so maybe its a maxis thing? But I swear I've never had a sim autonomously light a fireplace. And secondly, I think playing golf could be perfect for Remington's sports hobby! I have a mod that makes career rewards available as aspiration rewards so its not as rare to obtain but also not so 'cheaty' that you can buy them. Happy Halloween!🎃

The mod for the fireplace is part of Simler90's Temperature Mod pack: modthesims.info/d/632096/temperature-mods.html After having read it through again now, I realized that it doesn't affect custom fireplaces unless the TTAB is edited, so I might look into that.
Yeah I think golf could be good too, problem is just that I'm unsure of where to place the green on this lot 🤔 I think it would look odd inside or in the garden, but perhaps it would look OK on the ground floor veranda?
