Here's my war factory suggestions since you asked for them. First, don't buy them until you can pay for their upgrades. Get multiple unit production upgrades. Finally get the tank production upgrade. They also aren't a super unit. They just cost more (and have an upkeep) because they are designed with producing more expensive units in mind. Make sure you have other units to support it/ take down it's weaknesses.

Not questioning Steel balls being good. But having them both is better. Plus the tanks are decent (not the best but decent) at handling lighter ground units and adding another target to be killed before the factory. The goal is to keep it producing as long as possible.@@afallingwaifu

Holy crap, Tom actually did aerial punishment?! Pivoted to air when the enemy had no AA for an easy victory.
That said for War Factory, don't buy it unless you can get the upgrades, honestly getting both production ones is also recommended, don't forget you can switch the upgrades too.
ALSO, the strong strat for War Factory is to actually buy the units it produces *because* the units it produces will have those upgrades, so steel balls that pour out crawlers, very good. Phoenixes that resurrect on a rear deployed Phoenix 😩👌. Sledehammers are a bit rough for the upgrading aspect but are still worth as well.
One thing to remember though is stormcaller, melting points, and steel balls can hurt REALLY badly, seriously stormcaller single target is STRONG

Yaaaaay more Mechabellum! I finally decided to get into it after watching you and Smith play and it has since consumed my life. 200+ hours in, around 1k mmr, I love this game so much, thanks a ton for showing it off.
In general, saving all of your money on turn 4, lets you unlock the War Factory on turn 5, and place one, with 2 upgrades. Or place 2 War Factories. Works better with Giant Specialist.
As for making the War Factory viable, I think there are 3 main strats:
    1. First ideas is to upgrade your Phoenixes a little early and then surprise pivot into mass Phoenix, Pick a start that has Phoenixes, or Aerial Specialist, and make sure you have Resurrection, Shields, Range, Attack Speed on your Phoenixes. Try to get Phoenix Shields early if you can, maybe place a couple more units of them, and then on turn 4, save all your money, turn 5, unlock the War Factory and place it in your back line, grab Phoenix Production, and then buy Phoenix Resurrection.
    2. Or you can try and overrun them with Sledgehammer and Steel Balls being produced every 4s and 5s, this works especially well if you go for Wasps earlier on, that way they'll respond with Mustangs, which then in turn get obliterated by the Sledges your War Factory will be producing. And on Steel Balls, get the upgrade that lets them split into 5 crawlers when they die. That one upgrade is an insane amount of value.
    3. Last one I actually saw in a tournament match, and is best with Aerial or Giant Specialist, because you play a very aggressive Overlord turn 2 or 3. If you play it turn 2 you might be able to upgrade it on turn 3, basically just lure them into countering that 1 Overlord you put right at the front and maybe even mobile beacon to their tower.
Then when turn 4 or 5 roles around, you sell the Overlord.
If all you've done is level it up once, you still get all the money back, which gives you a chance to hard pivot into War Factory shenanigans, or just hard counter whatever they were doing to counter your Overlord.
This last one is actually just fun to do in general with any strat you want.

First make sure you're actually stable, buying it on the back foot is a great way to throw away resources and to -200 per turn hurts more than you realise

Personal preference tip! The factory is actually quite good as a replacement for the fortress. They have a higher health pool, bigger profile to protect your other bois, and 4 fire ports unlike the fortress's 1. When you buy them, make sure you have an extra 50 bucks left to upgrade the upkeep reduction buff. That will go a long way to saving your butt as the rounds progress. Lastly, leave just enough space in front of them so you can fit either fangs or crawlers. Chaff to protect against melting points and steel balls. And hopefully when you get the production upgrade, you start producing even more chaff that hopefully outpaces that DPS. My tech line is:
    1. Upkeep upgrade
    2. Phoenix
    3. Sledgehammer
    4. Steel Ball
Keep the variety to potentially counter other things they might do, like air or otherwise. Factories can't shoot up.
This worked for me, but maybe I'm a wizard, who knows lol. Wish you luck

  • @noah.2B

Couple of hot tips I've heard:
1, For Elite Specialist, get the ability to sell things immediately and sell one of your 200 cost units right away on turn 1. This allows you to deploy two units on turn 1.
Makes Elite Spec waaaaaaaay more viable, but you have to be careful not to deploy stuff that will just feed a lot of XP because level 2 units give more xp.
    2. Carry Arclights.
Arclights are God's chosen people. They are the way of truth and light, the most beautiful of all creatures, if you go in your dictionary and look up the definition of heavenly perfection you will find an image of an Arclight smiling back up at you.
Play them like Marksmen and get Range -> 200% damage -> Elite Marksman, prioritizing leveling them up and giving plenty of chaff to buy them time.
They aren't the best solution to every composition, bless their hearts, but goddamn do they put in work. You give them levels, and they will give you the smoking corpses of Sledges, Steel Balls, even Giants, atop the smoldering ashes of a mountain of dead chod.
I love Arclights, and would marry one if I could.

The Phoenix production upgrade might have actually helped in that second round because suddenly they drop 2 decently strong units every 4 seconds. More for the enemy meltys too shoot.
Also, knowing what units you want to produce and giving those upgrades by having at least one stack on the field beforehand is a decent call.

    Notes on the war factory.
First, the units they produce are the same level as the factory that *produces* them... so a level 4 factory makes level 4 units.
Second, the units they produce benefit from all the techs on other units of that type, so you should try to unlock and use whatever units you intend on producing so that you get the most benefit from the tech upgrades.
Third, don't buy one till you can buy tech for it and preferably get ether more then one tech or more then one war factory, both if at all possible. Don't be afraid to borrow money or sell unhelpful units (like that arclight you left on the flank to feed his melting point or all those wasps that were just dying pointlessly on his mustang horde. This advice actually applies to any game, not just war factory focused ones.) for that round if it gets you another tech or factory.
Forth, the reduced upkeep and missile defense techs are both solid choices for your factory but shouldn't be run together as you need to have them primarily teched to produce units. Generally I say get the upkeep reduction and some mustangs or a missile defense turret. If you have three war factories and the upkeep reduction then that saves 300 supplies a round, two rounds and you've saved enough to unlock another upgrade.
Fifth, steel balls with division or sledgehammers with some tankiness buff are needed to screen for the factory but should be paired with the phoenix *first* before getting the other ground unit. This divides fire and draws it away from the factory while providing the damage output and anti-air needed to keep the factory safe *and* push the enemy. Steel balls with division are better against melting points or other steel balls as the extra crawlers give you *six* units to distract them per spawn instead of *one*. While distracted your phoenixes can kill them. Meanwhile sledgehammers are better against large numbers of 'chaff' units or things like the mustang spam as they do small aoe damage and don't need to ramp up like steel balls.
Sixth, do *not* build wasps in any kind of numbers in a game you plan on going war factories in as you need to avoid driving them into hard countering your phoenixes before you even start producing them.
Seventh and finally, if you *can* get the tech specialist upgrade you *should* . Since the war factories themselves benefit from multiple techs *and* the units they produce do too, a well executed game will have you buying far more tech then normally and the saved supplies will add up. Getting supply specialists of ether type are also helpful for obvious reasons.

    Factory is rough.
Theres 2 viable builds I've tried. A mass spawner build but needs some crawler/fang spam to accompany it. Phoenix Ball Tank summons with missile intercept.
Missile intercept is a top pick on that. Its a shit ton more effective than mustangs.
The other build is Range + Missile intercept + Faster fire + Armour.
It needs a lot of support to be viable. Going Phoenix with reasembly on it is amusing since the dead phoenix spawn on the fresh spawned phoenixs. My record of having tanks has been 5 tanks on 1 match.
