    would love to see some closer pics of the seat extender mod you’ve made. Did you slide that box section over the frame and then bolt attach it or directly weld to it? . Thanks for sharing .

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 4 lety +2

      First, thank you so much! Bike is looking better by the day...
      Second, yes, I slide the box section over the frame by cutting slits in the far side with an angle grinder (cut the seat extender not the frame). Next I bolted the seat to a prop piece of sheet metal and cut to spec. Then I aligned the plate and bolted it to the extenders. Finally I did 6 spot welds on the corners of the contacts of the extender and the plate.

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 4 lety

      Hey Alex, I have variable regen controlled by my left hand throttle. The eco and sport mode switch was removed because I control my power levels with the new ERT display. I have access to the BACdoor app with a manufacturer login but would not recommend tinkering with it yourself.

    Does any body know how to bypass the bms ?

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 4 lety

      It is fairly complicated, but if you have electrical engineering knowledge it can be done. There is a guide somewhere in the sur ron owners group on FB posted to endless sphere. Sorry I can't help more with that but personally, I don't think the bypass is worth it... It's maybe a 20% power increase but voids the warranty and risks damage to the cells. I also believe the BMS balances the cells when charging and it could be potentially dangerous to charge it without that feature. I'm by no means an expert on this, but have read a lot of the forums. Good luck if you decide to :/

  • @vobgaming
    @vobgaming Před 4 lety

    What was your total cost for this build? including the initial price of the bike

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 4 lety

      So, this is a common question and it is a lot...
      The bike (pre-import tariff) was $3k and I spent a good 400 on accessories and peripherals to get it road worthy.
      Then I started to want performance, so after a year of riding the bike at least 4 times daily, I got the hang of it.
      I then upgraded the controller (including color display and regen wiring) and battery which cost $800 and $1.8k respectively.
      At the moment I made a mod not documented which is supermoto wheels. They look and feel amazing. But another $350...
      Over the years of ownership the bike required many repairs, modifications, and parts. It gets expensive fast.
      I value my bike currently at $8k on the market, but I'd argue it has cost me more. Regardless, I will spend more. hahaha

    Sweet, I have had my Sur Ron since June and absolutely love it. I commute on it during nice days to work (over the SR bridge in Marin) and have taken it out to Auburn to a OHV trails and it rips off road. I was just establishing all the upgrades I'd like to do and you have covered most of them. What are some of the stats of your new drivetrain: milage (I know it depends on usage but a rough idea of what you're getting out of it would be helpful), peak and nominal power, charge time, etc.. Also, if you guys get a group ride together I would love to join and get to know some of the Sur Ron community as well. How can I keep in touch? Thanks and keep up all the awesome content, really appreciate it.

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 4 lety

      millage: have logged 1.5k miles over a year
      Peak power: 14.4 kw battery current
      Nominal power: closer to 10kw
      Charge time: 1.5 hours (15amp) 3 hours (5amp)
      You can message me on youtube or facebook and i am fairly responsive. I would love to do a group ride as well. Will likely promote an event on this channel.

      Range was never my concern since I only use the bike around my city and once into SF. Range is about the same as stock because I got an increase in capacity but I spend it faster. Expect somewhere around 40-60 miles depending on how you ride. I usually see around 50 miles personally. I understand that is very lacking due in comparison to a normal motorcycle, but compared to electric bikes on the market its very competitive range.
