One of the best mods I've seen yet! Hope to see more videos!
Awesome video man! Just subscribed! Wish there were more sur ron riders here!
Keep growing that channel, bro. 👍 videos are great
Great video...keep em coming!
Great info!
holy smokes! that thing was practically a road king back in the day
Need some more vids of the sur ron bro,top speed test and the lot :)
I get back to california in 3 days and will pump out a few vids before my second semester starts!
this shit is OG...we need more videos bro. I just got my Sur Ron today and the brake pads are seized. No luck thus far on finding a tutorial
Check out my maintenance tutorial. I go over pads in great detail!
Those tires are perfect 👍👍
I'm actually in love with them for their combined on and off road capabilities, but am ordering the supermoto wheels now for stunting and exclusive street riding.
nice review. can you do a instructional video on how to install the turning signals and control? Thanks.
making a video very soon on this!
I want to have a rear rack on the back of the bike where you have your trunk/luggage. Do you have any recommendations for me?
Excellent review appreciate the video .the links for the mud huggers Didn’t work just curious what size fenders you use
I believe I bought the extended version of each (front and back) and thanks! I'm pumping out a bunch of new videos soon!
When you have time one day please make a video to teach us how to wire on some turn signals and brake lights! I would love to learn and do that to my sur ron! Thanks!
I am currently on the east coast away from my bike but I have a wiring diagram and would be happy to make a tutorial
@@PITprojects watched all your videos! I'm hoping to get my sur ron on your level!!! Can't wait to get an upgraded battery and new contoller!!!
Thank you for the video very informative,, in your intros one looks taller than the other, how did you adjust the height?
Same height on both bikes in intro, but now my bike is actually lower. Update video on mods to come in 4 weeks
Awesome
Great video! I cant seem to find 225mm hope rotors, only 203mm. Was it discontinued?
It was taken off the site I bought mine from. New link in description though for european site.
Can you by any chance PLEASE make a detailed video on how you wired all your after market lights ESPECIALLY the signal lights... I’ve recently got hit by a car because he couldn’t anticipate my turn and I REALLY need to install signal lights and you seem to know exactly what you’re doing... and for me and I’m SURE many others... that video would be an ACTUAL LIFE SAVER. (THANK YOU IN ADVANCE 🙏)
I bought the “JFG RACING” headlight but I can’t get it to fit on my Sur Ron for the life of me and I don’t have / want facebook. Is there any way you can post photos of installation on imgur and comment links? Thank you
I am uploading a wiring video very soon to document the installation of lights on my second sur ron. Should be up in the next week
How do you get the light bar hooked up to the battery?
Will make video
You are using the tires size 2.75x19 47S TT?
2.75 and 3.0 x19 90/110
some of the best mods i have yet seen! really damn good.
would love to see some closer pics of the seat extender mod you’ve made. Did you slide that box section over the frame and then bolt attach it or directly weld to it? . Thanks for sharing .
First, thank you so much! Bike is looking better by the day...
Second, yes, I slide the box section over the frame by cutting slits in the far side with an angle grinder (cut the seat extender not the frame). Next I bolted the seat to a prop piece of sheet metal and cut to spec. Then I aligned the plate and bolted it to the extenders. Finally I did 6 spot welds on the corners of the contacts of the extender and the plate.
Sorry for responding late...
Are you fucking blind looks fucking hideous Electric tape To colour in the forks 🤮 And a weld job done by three-year-old 😂 some people don’t deserve to have Nice things
What is your front headlight and how did you wire the headlight and all the turn signals
Video coming soon on this topic. Making an in depth tutorial and guide to peripheral electronics including: Active brake light, turn signals, headlight, horn rewiring, and switches for them all.
Harris On Wheels awesome can’t wait!
Nice review man can you measure 0-60 with a special tool? Also would love to see wheelie and power demonstration footage from side
Yes please do a 0-60!
Nice 😎 👌 from Facebook 👍😁
Do you have regen roll off on Surron throttle?
Eco sport function still operable
Access to Asi contoller programing at all?
Hey Alex, I have variable regen controlled by my left hand throttle. The eco and sport mode switch was removed because I control my power levels with the new ERT display. I have access to the BACdoor app with a manufacturer login but would not recommend tinkering with it yourself.
Harris On Wheels > Did you buy the ASI evaluation kit as that's the only way you can have access to controller settings?
I'd like a complete ert kit just not sure if I'd be able to access it after. which would be a shame quite a lot of money!
I wouldn't know how to program it or wire it from scratch admittedly.
Great vids by the way showing what you've done!
Ps I have those Heidenau tyres after hours of looking at tyres road tyres for 19" rims many months back these were the only ones with a close enough rolling circumference for odometer / retain gear ratio, Oh & weight.
Actually very good for road.
What sort of mileage per charge are you returning at 14.4kw?
Thsnks
Can you recomended e.r.t seller, I want bac4000, but it is bad review on sphere.
I cannot recommend it.
Is the range the same with new battery & controller?
Range is increased with both upgrades.
My dude has a monster size neck, un-k.o.-able
Make tutorials on how to install the wet controller and the turn signal and the break lights 🙏
And the light switch as well
Already in the works! Should be out in no more than 3-4 weeks
Where you been man? Ready for some new vids.
Just posted a new Raw Ride with great footage from a new gopro!
You need upgrade brakes too motorbike brakes.Nice bike what is the controller cost
Depends what you buy. Go to someone else though, the guy I used sucked.
R they water proof can they be driven in the if u had too
Only "waterproof" up to about knee deep. Then things get screwy. I had it poop out on me in the rain a while back randomly.
How much was it for the controller and battery love to see myn do that speed
$800 or so for controller and about $1.5k for battery
Harris On Wheels is this simple to do
@@timmymallet3809 supposed to be "plug'n play" but took me forever due to ERT taking forever and supplying me with faulty equipment.
Does any body know how to bypass the bms ?
It is fairly complicated, but if you have electrical engineering knowledge it can be done. There is a guide somewhere in the sur ron owners group on FB posted to endless sphere. Sorry I can't help more with that but personally, I don't think the bypass is worth it... It's maybe a 20% power increase but voids the warranty and risks damage to the cells. I also believe the BMS balances the cells when charging and it could be potentially dangerous to charge it without that feature. I'm by no means an expert on this, but have read a lot of the forums. Good luck if you decide to :/
What was your total cost for this build? including the initial price of the bike
So, this is a common question and it is a lot...
The bike (pre-import tariff) was $3k and I spent a good 400 on accessories and peripherals to get it road worthy.
Then I started to want performance, so after a year of riding the bike at least 4 times daily, I got the hang of it.
I then upgraded the controller (including color display and regen wiring) and battery which cost $800 and $1.8k respectively.
At the moment I made a mod not documented which is supermoto wheels. They look and feel amazing. But another $350...
Over the years of ownership the bike required many repairs, modifications, and parts. It gets expensive fast.
I value my bike currently at $8k on the market, but I'd argue it has cost me more. Regardless, I will spend more. hahaha
Sweet, I have had my Sur Ron since June and absolutely love it. I commute on it during nice days to work (over the SR bridge in Marin) and have taken it out to Auburn to a OHV trails and it rips off road. I was just establishing all the upgrades I'd like to do and you have covered most of them. What are some of the stats of your new drivetrain: milage (I know it depends on usage but a rough idea of what you're getting out of it would be helpful), peak and nominal power, charge time, etc.. Also, if you guys get a group ride together I would love to join and get to know some of the Sur Ron community as well. How can I keep in touch? Thanks and keep up all the awesome content, really appreciate it.
millage: have logged 1.5k miles over a year
Peak power: 14.4 kw battery current
Nominal power: closer to 10kw
Charge time: 1.5 hours (15amp) 3 hours (5amp)
You can message me on youtube or facebook and i am fairly responsive. I would love to do a group ride as well. Will likely promote an event on this channel.
What category have you registered the bike in CA, to be road legal?
It is just a class 2 ebike in my area and all the cops love it. I never get pulled over anymore since they all know me. Have gotten pulled over 6 times though over the course of my first 3 or 4 months of ownership
how are the turn signals powered?
12v power loop from the dc/dc converter. Same loop as the headlight and brake
@@PITprojects so is that a pretty easy thing to do? My bike arrives tomorrow, so I have not seen it up close just yet
Bro wtf are those rear fenders on the crazy looking enduro bike lol
Mudhugger extended front and rear fenders. Can be found only on ebay unfortunately
@@PITprojects there all over amazon too lmao
@@ZOMBuckaCurt Right you are lol! I Was never able to find the extended ones there but seems like they got back in stock
What kind of wattage are you putting through it?
14.4kw nominal 24.4kw peak
@@PITprojects I thought the BAC4000 was a 4kW controller?
Will you please do a video on your cable management! I'd love to see the process of hooking up the lights to the handlebar controls.. I love modding my surron!
Sure thing! Video in detail coming soonish. Im stuck on the other coast from my bike rn and cant finish the video but I may be able to just diagram it on the computer.
Awesome mods man. But I have one issue. The bike was designed to accept only one rider. By adding a second one, safety may be compromised. Just food for thought bro.
I only give people rides occasionally and when I do they are relatively light. I never exceed 325lb combined between me and the rider
How tall are you
I'm actually pretty short at 5'8". My buddy I ride with is closer to 5'11 and he fits nicely on the bike too!
WOW AWSOME 😎.👍 THANK'S 💙
6:15 bottom right screen. between photo shoot breaks
Hahaha! Didn't see the bottle during filming, but I am definitely a Modelo guy XD
Like
so sad that the bec cant fit in the x controler plate its so ugly
I fixed it and its not black and has a heatsink. Looks great
Note for the future: do not jump cut to go pro footage right next to loud ass motor, lower intro/out song. Okay video otherwise
The jump cut was meant to be jarring lol wanted the intensity of the ride to show XD. Reworking my intro and outro too when I get back out west in a few weeks.
It’s very frustrating when videos like this boasts of power upgrades and yet always neglect to mention it’s most important aspect. Total distance capabilities!
Range was never my concern since I only use the bike around my city and once into SF. Range is about the same as stock because I got an increase in capacity but I spend it faster. Expect somewhere around 40-60 miles depending on how you ride. I usually see around 50 miles personally. I understand that is very lacking due in comparison to a normal motorcycle, but compared to electric bikes on the market its very competitive range.
make the music louder pls
It's no longer a sur Ron but a supr ron
