    Hey Andrew - love love love the videos. So helpful and you have a good demeanor on camera. Easy to listen to. 2 things: 1. Why no belt drive? Looks like you are straight street and this would make it stealthy AF. 2. I have to say the title is a little misleading. I am totally in your corner and fully support your vids. Just a little bait clicky for my taste.

      First, thanks for the support man! Glad you enjoy my videos. Second, no belt drive yet because I don't want to lose swingarm rigidity by cutting it in install the belt. Third, I totally get how this came across as click baity and I am not proud of it. I will have a video of a 90 mph run very soon to alleviate this issue, but I hear you and the many others who had a problem with this video. I am still fairly new to youtube in terms of how much time/effort I am spending on it, and I will not make this same mistake again. I am really sorry that I disappointed some of my fans.

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 3 lety +1

      Battery works on any sur ron with a motor controller that handles 72v. Stock controller only takes up to around 70v before it throws error codes and wont run. You will need an aftermarket controller that is able to run around 80-90v to get optimal performance out of a 72v battery. A 72v battery when charged is about 82v

    change your ‘ regen brake speed’ to 9kph to get rid of the stutter. It will stop regen when the bike speed is below 9kph. Also check the negative regen ramp is low like 150ms to smooth out when regen is released.

      @ΛΕΡΘΕΞΑΝΑΞ ΣΕΣΕΓΓΕΝΒΑΡΦΑΡΑΓΓΗΣ Sorry, I haven't installed my BAC8k yet...everything is here but still in the box. I've got a ton of other upgrades that I'm doing first and have been researching motor heat, safe max kw levels, and trying to find a tuning resource so I'm not at the mercy of ERT. Also looking at other controllers...trying to decide if I'm going to do it or sell it and get another controller. I've got a new Jade rear shock and Hope brakes coming in before the end of the month, and also got the Luna main drive chain that I'm going to do first. I'm probably going to keep the BAC8k now that I've found a good tuning resource and will start working on it in October/November.

    • @troymuni6120
      @troymuni6120 Před 3 lety

      @ΛΕΡΘΕΞΑΝΑΞ ΣΕΣΕΓΓΕΝΒΑΡΦΑΡΑΓΓΗΣ No, I don't have it but i know someone who does. I'm pretty sure you can only get that if you buy the controller direct from ASI or someone shares their credentials with you. I believe they stopped giving direct access to retail customers some time in July/August.

    And also I'm interesting in how many miles u can cover, in city rides, with average speed ranging from 30-40MPH ???

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 3 lety

      My top speed is somewhere between 80-90mph but as of right now, I electronically limited my system to 65. It gives me consistent 4.2 second 0-60 times and has a range of about 50 miles at 40mph

  • @FPV-px7od
    @FPV-px7od Před 3 lety +1

    Just a little side note, not tryin to be a know it all, but I've worked extensively with controllers of various sizes and wide ranging voltage and current capabilities for several years. With the prices being so close, you should absolutely go with the 8000 over the 4000 if you are going to be pushing this bike at all. The reason for this is based on the hardware in general being bigger and beefier with better heat dissipation along with the ability to better handle voltage spikes. In these systems particularly with regen, you can have massive voltage spikes. Even though they may only be 1-2 milliseconds in duration, they can cause a lot of damage over a relatively short time. I will be adding as big of a capacitor as I can fit to help mitigate this as well

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 3 lety

      I am aware of the 8000’s superior heat dissipation, but have never had problems with voltage spikes. I’ve logged my data riding before and voltage was looking totally normal. Id be curious to investigate this phenomenon you described. Could you give me a bit more info as to why this happens? I just want to be as well informed as possible on these controllers

    • @FPV-px7od
      @FPV-px7od Před 3 lety +1

      @@PITprojects hey brother, so admittedly most of my experience is in the RC realm. Vehicles of all types but mainly FPV race drones over the last 4-5 years. I'm newer to the ebike scene, but the principles of electronic speed controllers is much the same. I have drones that pull 3-4 times the amount of current that the Sur Ron does in its stock form, but they can't carry anywhere near the amount of battery payload. So, the problem that comes into play is "Ripple Current"- see attached video. czcams.com/video/kdkNX7RwEiQ/video.html . The first 5 minutes are pertinent to this discussion despite the fact that he is talking about rc applications. After that, search CZcams for " Voltage Spikes and esc's" and you will find plenty more on the topic. But don't get me wrong, I'm not insinuating that your 4000 is no good or that its gonna blow up tmrw, rather just an observation of the fact that the internal capacitors could suffer heat soak this degrading performance. Also, you could potentially see early wear over time. I'm in no way putting it down or anything like that, hell I don't even have mine yet(hopefully next week...lol)

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 3 lety

      First of all, thank you for the resource and I also fly fpv drones. I will be posting sur ron chase footage soon. I believe I understand now the concept that others have also been bringing up and will explain my mistake in my next breakdown style video. I am likely going to compare a bunch of controllers as well and test them for a set tune and log efficiency. Thank you again for your comment and I hope you subscribe for some sweet fpv shots with my hero 8 and vortex 285 🤙

    Your BAC 4000 heat sink is probably heats up less due to the color and more to the fact that you painted it so it not transferring heat to the air as efferently since its also being absorbed by the paint.

      @Ahsham Nasir I posted a Raw Ride video but because I was away from the bike on the east coast, I could not finish the tutorial. Now I have 90% of the video done and am doing the rest this weekend. Rest assured I will make the tutorial. I would like to apologize though. I don't want this channel to be a platform of empty promises and will do my best to meet the demand of my audience. I am stuck in a house in Berkeley and have no excuses (taking a light course load in school too).
      Also in regard to tutorials on the other mods:
      -The controller and it's installation will be covered in an asi controller deep dive. The first half of the video will be physical installation, wiring, and peripheral inputs/displays. The second half will be a software deep dive explaining the majority of settings and tuning parameters.
      -Wheels and brake rotor installation were detailed in my maintenance tutorial and will not receive another video unless I have a cool new part to install or do a different than traditional braking setup.
      -The rgb led lights will be briefly covered in my incoming lighting tutorial. I will also be gauging interest to see if people would want custom plug-n-play (99% just one single cable splice) lighting kits. I have materials to make them and would source any headlight, taillight, or turn signals that people would want. I would also create mounts/brackets for installation. All of this will be in the tutorial and the kit will soon be on a website.
      Thanks for watching my videos and keeping faith!

    No it’s not. There’s atleast 10 with higher rated kits built in the UK sold by us alone and around another 30 from other sellers.
    It’s a nice bike but this new “look at me click my likes” craze is annoying. Just a headline grabbing title

      Francis janssen i just realize why you were hating on me in the facebook group. You are the ERT UK distributor. You just don’t like the bad review because it hurts your business.

      Francis janssen also if you can find another sur ron owner running 24.6kw, who weighs as little as me, and who runs the same gearing as me, then he can be “the fastest.” I’ll have video proof in a few weeks anyway so keep a little faith. 😁🤙

    I had the first batch 60 volt sur ron..the thing with these bikes they don't have a fit anywhere except urban riding. They are too big for true single track bike trails and too small for moto style trails..I ended up putting about 3500 in uogrades just to get it strong enough to ride off road. I ended up selling and buying a true off road mx bike for same price.
