    Hey Andrew,
    I got an early one after seeing a review in Mototcycle Consumer News and have never regretted it.
    Thank you for again reminding me why I got this great machine.
    I've been ignoring everything but battery and chain and tire pressure of course, and have gotten away with it!
    I'm 71 in Co Mtns and so appreciate your concise and correct info.
    It only took me 4+hrs. to do what you showed in about 1/2 of your Great instruction.

    • @PITprojects

      Definitely remove the wheel or caliper from the bracket. You dont wanna risk getting any oil on the rotor because that will ruin the pads and kill breaking performance.

    Are those the antique street tires I recommended a long time ago? Are they any good? My newest shinko 244 is super slick, it sat in the backyard for a year, think it might be a problem. It also hasn't been dry since I put it on, and I don't really test the limits while it's wet. But I could drag the back wheel locked up for about 80-100 yards on the wet street. Finding the right tires is so hard, since I can't go full street, and for the 26" don't have much selection and are expensive for anything that can handle 45 mph.

    It's all great stuff but the brake bleeding procedure you do is an overkill for these cheap Chinese stock brakes (which should be the first thing anyone being serious about riding Surrons offroad or at high speed should replace). It's enough to make the brake reservoir parallel to the ground, open the top cover, fill it up, squeeze gently a few times and wait 15 mins. Air is lighter than mineral oil, bubbles will come out on their own. A bicycle mechanic taught me this trick, works like a charm.

    • @PITprojects
      @PITprojects  Před 2 lety

      You are totally correct, you do not need to take off the wheel in order to bleed the brakes. Something ill highlight is that the sur ron has no specific fluid. The fluid it comes with in the stock brakes happens to be a mineral oil mixture. Other brakes like hope or sram may use dot 3 or 4. One of my lines for my moto rear brake happens to be dot 5 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
