Thank you, I often feel the same way when I listen to a history video or audio book. Glad you stopped by!
🇮🇶Thank you, I'm from south of Isuna, Iraq 😍♥
Thank you very much for your videos! They have - literally - opened up new worlds for me. Watching them through for the second time now.

Wow. This was awesome! Nice work Cy. Always a pleasure.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! And love the screen name, it totally is appropriate for this video lol.
Thanks again and more on Babylon and Babylonia to come!
Awesome videos. Thank you, I've learned more on your videos than what I learned in high school and college combined.
My pleasure, glad you liked them! More on Babylonia to come, stay tuned!
Cy you rock! I am rewatching all of your videos in search of the king. Who would sing or fluff him self. He does it in a friendly up beat manner your presentation. Possibly starts I am the son of no one ,but could be mixing it up. I've poured over your content. It was awesome and remains stuck. Wife's tired of me saying I'm the king of sumer and akad. Sorry about the spelling.
Ty 😊
Glad you enjoyed this one but you might prefer the more recent, 3-hour Babylon one (from last December). It covers a lot of this in more detail. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it and stay tuned for more!
Great video with an awesome cliff hanger ending. Wonder if I should look for spoilers for the next episode. Looking forward to more Cy!
**SPOILER ALERT**
Haha or rather hint...it's a very recognizable name! H-A-.... ok I'll stop there.
Thanks for stopping by the channel, I really appreciate it!
Holy crap, Bab in Arabic is also door. I have been wondering how close these ancient semitic languages are to Arabic, could you maybe do a video on similarities between old semitic languages and modern ones?
That's really interesting... I know more about Indo-European languages because I've studied those a little bit, but one similarity that comes to mind with Semitic languages is the word "illa" ... like in the word "BismILLAh" ... and in Akkadian the name for Babylon is BabILLu or BabILLAni. I'm curious about these things too.
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it!
Interesting breakdown of the history!
Thank you, glad you stopped by!
Enter Hammurabi

Thanks, really appreciate the kind words and support! More Babylonian history on the way including a longer that will encompass and tie a lot of these civilizations together, stay tuned!

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and good wishes! I'll be doing a pretty in-depth video or two on Cyrus the Great hopefully in March. But first, so more more on Mesopotamia to cover!
@@HistorywithCy looking forward to it but if i was you i won't commit to a certain date , from what i can see the whole world is chasing after you to do all the digging😄
Haha the goal is sometime in March...let's see then if I have made it up to the Iron Age by then...
it is amazinng! you give more details than a university texbook I have (it's about all ancient east civilization, thus it can't be very detailed). your videos are extremely helpful for my self-education, thank you for your excelent work
This is fantastic content.
Thank you, glad you liked it! More on Babylonia on the way this summer, stay tuned!
@@HistorywithCy I can’t wait!

Amazing work as always.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed this... you might like the 3 hour video on Babylon that goes into more detail with all of this. Thanks for watching!
Make video about Northern Wei bro
Oh man, the list keeps growing and growing! I still have your other requests on my list that I need to do...hopefully we'll get to the Northern Wei in 2020...thanks!
Iraq’s history is much too hard to understand there was so many peoples, city’s and tribes and battles for the thrones ! I wish these were made in a time line sort of upload. Beginning with the Sumerians down to Chaldean Assyrian battles down to the last Babylonian rule ( Belshazzar ) ... its abit confusing. But great content man, this stuff is amazing, great voice for it, I really appreciate this channel man.
Hi, thank so much for stopping by, really appreciate it! This is actually an Ancient Mesopotamia playlist that has them in chronological order. Here it is:
czcams.com/play/PLUx8354UG5yxKUIn3t0rppmEu_Rg18lAK.html
Also, the upcoming "Mesopotamia in Minutes" series also will be mostly in chronological order. Hope this helps, any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again, stay safe!
@@HistorywithCy oh wow ! Thanks brother I really appreciate this aha ♥️🙏
Nice vid
Thanks, appreciate it...stay safe!
Grazie, molto interessante!
Grazie!
2:55 important.
1:18 Mari to Ur
5:00 Akkadian all spoke
wow just wow... call me crazy, but I see correlation of the timeline of the story of Abraham in the Bible's Genesis and the "Book of Asher", from the flood to Babel to Ur and leaving Ur and Elamites conquering Ur, Abraham's age and events in his life matches archaeological findings. The book of Asher is indeed a living history book.
Interesting, thanks for sharing...and thanks also for stopping by, I appreciate it!
Hey Cy thouroughly love your chanel and dont mean to nag and its not a huge issue but a minor problem I've had when listening to old eps in playlists and whatnot is ill be listening to one in the background then the next comes on the volume is blaringly, racketously loud. Not sure there is much you can do if it means you would have to take down and reupload them thats not possible but if tjere is anything thats easy for you to do it would be appriciated. Again no major slight i love your chanel and have recommended it tp several mates
Hi, thanks so much for the constructive feedback, I really appreciate it! Yes, you're totally right about the old episodes and in fact, I'm actually replacing them with newer versions. This Babylonia series is an example, and also the old Assyrian series is being replaced with a podcast that goes into more detail AND is much softer on the ears. When I first started this whole thing about two years ago, I had little to no idea about how to manipulate the sound, audio transitions, etc. Since then though I've played around with my editing software and hopefully the sound and visuals are better with the latest content I've put out. If there are any problems with these new videos and/or podcasts, please don't hesitate to let me know. I definitely want to deliver the best experience for you all as I possibly can.
Thanks again for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
@@HistorywithCy an old assyria podcast sounds tight given how foundational to world civilisation the acient near and middle east is there is a dirth of content on it compared to the 10 million vids of "Caesar is so dope guys and literally no history happened before the punic wars" is irritating despite they are my 2 favourite periods in history (3rd is late bronze age but for the opposite reason the mystery and lack of primary sources compared to epic roman post gallic sack record keeping) but even i can only rewatch historia civilis so many times before wanting something new
Not mention about Kudur-Mabuk
Hi, thanks for your comment. Yeah, I had to shorten it a bit.. there were other things I wanted to add but took out. Thanks so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it!
Or was Ibbi Sin taken to Persia.
"Bab" means "gate" in Arabic and adding an "on" ending to "Allah" you get "allohn." You have a similar blending of "Allah" into "illah" or "ollah" with "hizb Allah," Hisbollah, meaning, "political party of God." I guess you could make it plural with "hiszollon." "Alhamdulillah" "Praised be to God."
1:03 Cavalry in bronze age?
Probably Donkeys
I like your voice
Haha thanks, I don't get that a lot. More to come, stay tuned!
All this information about ancient Babylon and ancient Accadia yet no Mention of Nimrod who built those cities. I don't get it.
Larsa=lor
Lagash=lak
The fact that the people there had constantly fought over land explains a LOT about the region today. It has NEVER changed in the attitudes of the people who come from there. The resulting generations of people to present day, have ingrained in their DNA a sense of having to fight for their land, having to fight for resources, having to constantly fight for power and control. In a place where resources are so strategic due to fixed positions of rivers and surrounding barren desert, it is clear to see why these people still fight over territory to this day. It's just a shame that they have never been able to advance beyond this barbaric and simple life of occupy, take and kill and conquer... Explains a lot about today's problems. If the people of the world had access to free, clean energy and clean water and food, (which is totally possible), and not have to conform to a system of capitalism where all these resources are monopolized and monetized, wouldn't it be interesting to see how our world would be like then... Irony, I'm afraid, and the greed of a small few, prevents this from ever happening, which is just really, really sad. So many angry communities, so many displaced people, so many hungry children starving to death, so much suffering... all because so few people want to maintain a kushty life of Reilly...
ikr sigh...
Your timeline for the Kings doesn’t match the scholarly accepted timeline
Actually, it does. Check out the sources in the video description to see which scholars I'm referring to. Thanks!
