@@wchan39 it was the Dutch and Portuguese that did most of the spice trade conquering. England's empire was a bit later. Don't quote me but I think by the time they had conquered India they had already stopped growing saffron in the UK.
Spices were big in England during the late medieval period to the point they became cheap so the rich shifted to eating stuff that was relative in spiced and instead relied on the quality of the main ingredient with subtle herbs ans stuff to bring out it's flavor because that was what became the most expensive thing you could eat. That then got locked in as the vogue with the industrial revolution where efficiency and price became the norm over quality, particularly for the wiring class who no longer had time to cook some of the nicer meals.
The UK and America both took to industrialization earlier and harder than the rest of the world

Pointing out that the "beer" of yesterday was different than some beers of today does not change the basic fact that Beer has been used as a foodstuff for more than 4000 years.

Beef Jerky is a good snack. When I go hunting with the family, we bring rice, go buy jerky(the regular red bag one), and a few drinks and thats our meal whiling hunting.

also, frankfurters (hot dogs) are a *_TYPE OF SAUSAGE_* not a thing that is different from a sausage; they are sausages. There are also a lot of other sorts of sausages that are prepared in the same way as a frankfurter (hot dog) which aren't generally more processed than most other sorts of similar sausage, it's just that the grind on the meat is finer than for instance, your average sweet italian sausage, which has a more coarse grind.
