For cleaning sinks with baking soda and vinegar, my plumber recommends, as the last step, filling the sink full of hot water and then pulling out the sink stopper. He says the vinegar and baking soda loosen up the gunk and the final flush sends it down to the main drain line.

My hack when I don’t want to do anything is to play a game with myself, which I actually like to do. I quickly assess the room and give it a number. For example, I will set the timer for 12 minutes to pick up the living room and vacuum area rug. This does something to my brain. The fog clears and I turn into this efficient, cleaner, organizer and move from room to room. Believe it or not this helps getting me motivated to shower and change out of nightgown. I will set timer for 15 minutes and tell myself to shower, moisture face, brush teeth, and blow dry half of head and let the rest air dry and 15 minutes later I’m dressed and looking a lot better than when I started. And I never forget to tell myself “good job.””

My hack is to let kids help! I started a chore jar with my son when he was 3 (he picks a popsicle stick out of a jar with a chore on it) and now at 7 it’s part of his routine. Yes at 3 I had to redo his chore or let it go partly done but now at 7 he’s super helpful and sometimes even does a better job than I would!

When i was growing up , then when i had my own kids, n now with the grandkids- we alwsys did a "family clean". That is everyone (including dad) gets up n we all clean until the house is done. We dont ususlly do deep cleans w/ this, bit at least 1x a day it really helps to have everyone pick up n clean fir 15-20 minutes. As a kid (i had lots of brothers) we deep cleaned sat morning. We all worked for 90 mins to 2 hours. In that time we got the sheets changed, floors washed, n all the rooms really clean. Also when one of us would go out to work outside (shovel) those of us in the house would clean- ti they were done. It meant tgat we were s team. Our mom, n later me were not the cleaning lady. We were all responsible about our messes

If your son also likes to help around in the kitchen, perhaps he'll become interested in baking. In ten years, he can mention to a gal he likes (or boy, I don't judge), "Hey, you want to help me bake a cake for my mom's birthday?" (or someone close, even for the potential friend her/himself). It might impress the subject of his interest a great deal, a new line unheard before in the annals of dating! Gordon Ramsay had intended to be a football (soccer) player but hurt his knee, so his second choice was becoming a chef and he even went to France to apprentice (starting with dish washing and learning French).

So true! If laundry is quickly folded, it doesn't wrinkle. Then immediately put it away. Teach your kids to do their own laundry; mine did their own laundry by age nine. Easy-peasy! No more "single sock box" on top of the dryer. All socks are safety-pinned together at all times except on our feet. The safety pin safely closed a n d hid under sock top.

True! When I do my laundry, I only do my laundry. I don’t multitask. I find that when I multitask I end up missing a final step in my process. But when I only do my laundry, I will fold it or hang it up because that’s all I’m doing that day. Also, I wear my clothes twice (except underwear)before washing them. I do fewer loads per week this way. 😏

I just bought myself a robot vacuum. I retired from work in September 2019 because of a back injury. My daughter and her husband are remodeling my tiny home for me. I had a lot of walls and a hallway that made my tiny home SO much smaller. It’s only 350 square feet or so. So taking out all of my walls (except for one, my bathroom/closet) and opening the whole thing, it’s now a HUGE tiny home. I told my daughter I needed to get a new vacuum. She told me how much easier it would be on my back if I got a robot vacuum. I had never even thought about that before! My back injury limits the amount of time I can stand. It tightens up and gets very painful. I have to sit quickly to get relief. So I’m super excited to get back in my house (in about 2 weeks) and put that little robotic maid to work for me!! Lol

I found I have to sit while making dinner. I open s drawer in the island, put in a serving tray that fits or a piece of birch wood. I can now sit at the island more comfortably while chopping or peeling potatoes. I too want a robot vac. It would make things so much easier as even using a swifter dies me in.

Bought a ryobi 2 pack scrubber, comes in soft, medium and hard. Put it on my 12v ridged impact (compact size) cleaned shower, tub and sink in 10 minutes. Super. Also cleaned the windowsills that needed tlc. Saves time and energy. The little round scrubber that you put soap inside also comes in handy to clean lightly soiled dishes, ie popcorn and chips ....wash, rinse....done in 10 seconds. These little things make you want to clean more often.

I agree with the baking soda and vinegar and hot water! Works wonders. Also a fan of Dawn dish soap and a tea kettle of boiling water for toilet clogs.

Great vid, never thought to use dryer sheets for dusting, but it makes so much sense.
I've always cleaned my dishwasher each time I've used a box of dishwasher tablets, that way it's a regular habit... my first dishwasher was still going strong over 15 years after I'd bought it!

I love your videos and use a lot of your ideas. I will often start cleaning or organizing in the middle of watching them, and keep them playing while I work around the house. This video, I found myself taking an imaginary shot each time you said "literally". Don't change; you're awesome. It was just a fun game to distract from these trying times.

Wow! These are some fabulous ideas! The other day I saw a dryer sheet on the laundry room floor and it was dusty so I just used it to cleaned that corner real quick and I noticed it did a great job. I'm totally going to use those more. And the steamer for cleaning windows and such! And the blender idea! This is by far my favorite hack video so far.❤️
