We rescued our first cat when she was about four years old. She was grumpy to almost everyone until she died at 19. We loved her anyway and I know she appreciated having a good home. Good for you for loving her despite the derp. So glad she's feeling better.
We finally came to "that day" with my 16 year old cat last November. The vets came to the conclusion that he had cancer and we just let him live it out until he collapsed and wasn't okay/happy anymore. He had a good run and stole lots of food in his years with me.
Love your little girl's room. Love your story about your cat. I understand your pain and the grief to come. Just a few months ago we had to do what was right for our cat. So hard, so hard. Bless you for keeping her and bless her little kitty heart too!

What a beautiful room! I love understated Disney decorating that doesn't scream DISNEY!!! at you. It's real life with a nod to the Disney brand, which I love. Tinkerbell is my personal favorite! But I especially love what you said about your cat. She's old, she's derpy as you say, but she's part of your family and cleaning up after her is what you do with your geriatric pets. I too have a 17 yr old cat, still going strong, but I know the time will come ( and I dread) the day she needs to be put down
OH, but I live in CT, and we leave shoes on when visiting. But when I lived in NC, it was shoes off! Some kind of regional behavior, I guess. Personally, I like shoes off, but when in Rome...

Your baby sounds adorable. I say enjoy her as long as she wants to stay around. It sucks to lose them, but they sure bring a lot of love to your life.

Beautiful job! I understand the old pet thing. One of my fur babies is 18 and he's half blind, deaf, randomly barks at nothing and marks everything. However he's the best dog we have ever had so we tend to baby him. He still happy and that's all that matters to me. I'm sooo excited to see Milo's room. My daughter is into super heroes and it should be interesting how you do it. You do beautiful work!!

Thank you for inspiring me to declutter.....oh my goodness I've decluttered to within an inch of my life! I can't believe I've kept such a load of rubbish over the years, even my husband has jumped on the bandwagon, we've a long way to go but my house is starting to feel so much lighter and I feel great about it. Bahaha. When I was a girl we had a cat that was vicious. She would climb trees in our yard and jump out on people's heads. Or attack legs from behind pots. And not just play and run off. She would legit draw blood. LOL. Her name was Rosa the Evil. She was our favorite cat. Ha. I am glad Mister is sticking around to spice up life and annoy your husband. 😂
Don't pay any attention to ANY negative comments you know ur baby and you'll know when the time is when it comes because only u n ur family have that type of connection to determine if it is time or not! I love that u talked about ur baby! I have five babies and I just lost my dog about 7 weeks ago and it's very hard to lose them because they are as much a part of the family! Omg the room was beautiful I have watched a few of your videos but this one tugged my heart mister is beautiful. Enjoy these last times with her! We had a dog for 13 years and had to put her down last year and it was the hardest thing to do!! Bless you and mister!!
We have an older cat too. She is 16 and deaf so when she meows, you can hear her 3 blocks away. lol
She is always covered in litter and loves to sleep in my youngest sons bed. He calls the litter that she leaves behind kitty crispies.

I loved your cat story! We used to have two cats and they had such unique and crazy ( but wonderful) personalities. Sometimes annoyed the hell out of us but we loved they anyways. Now we have a dog, a rabbit and seven hens. Crazy pants. Pets are wonderful!

I have a 17 year old dog who is mostly blind, hears very little, has few teeth and snores like a chainsaw but she still plays, runs around, and cuddles like a pup! If they are not suffering, let them live! Abby's room is beautiful!

I loved your kitty story about Mister.....I so can relate!!! My cat Princess is such a Diva (which is one of many nicknames she has) and does the whole drinking from the bathroom sink thing too!!! Mine is relentless and "yells" at me (aka: meow's SUPER LOUDLY) to get her way..... funniest thing ever!!! 🐈 Cat's are very strange and interesting pets....never a dull moment for sure!!! Enjoy her!!!! I sure do enjoy mine!!!

I LOVE your beautiful 'Mister' cat! I have had MANY special-needs rescue cats; they are the BEST! And I lost my 18 y.o. cat to recent pathology but still have two cats that will be 20 yrs old on July 26th, and 19 yrs old in Nov, respectively. The rest of the herd are officially seniors as well.
They'll let you know when they're ready....my baby boy (he's my profile pic) had to be put down this past September and he was 15 and I loved him. I went to my visit family and left him with my parents knowing he wasn't doing so well and when I came back after a week he hopped into my arms and just started at me. He was blind and started to drool but he was looking into my eyes and I could just tell he was ready. Animals bring so much fun and joy and stress and pain but they're amazing no matter what. I'm sure Mister is going to live longer than you'll expect!

I LOVE the sound of your very individual cat 😊My 1st was up and down for the last 3year of his life, he still made it to 20yrs old! the vet always said that he would tell me when tell me when it was kinder to put him down than to keep him going, which he did. Kidney disease can cause all the symptoms that you talked about, which is what my cat had. medication kept him content & comfortable right up until the day before he died. Enjoy her while you have her! I'm sure Joe will miss her preening his head when she does pass on 😊🌹

I'm so glad I found another family that uses the word "derpy" to describe their pet. Our dog hasn't any extraordinary story of how he became a derp, but he just is. He's over 7 years old now, but he's a great family dog. I love the bedrooms you've done for your daughters. I have a 5 year old and we're just about to move back to the states, so I'm looking forward to giving her a great decorated room, with hopefully some of your tips :)
"No negative comments about my baby!" Perfect ending! I just wanna share, I too had a cat for many years, she was with me from when I was about 7 to when I turned about 22 yrs old. But, she too got sick and was throwing up everyday and we had to make a decision. I have pictures of her and tell my daughters stories of all her hilarious antics. 😊😉

The bedroom is adorable. We had a dog that lived a long time. She fooled us a few times thinking it was the end. Her inner puppy would come out. She was with us a long time. Her name was Cassie and I miss her like crazy

Great room makeover but what touched my heart was you talking about your cat. I had a chihuahua son, Maximilian (since he was so big, 5 pounds) who didn't like anyone either, he tried to bite everyone and was the runt of his litter. The breeder didn't feed him and weened him three days before I got him so he was starving and the vet wanted to put him down at 6 weeks old. I raised him on Gerber baby food and graduated him up the line of it. He never ate dog food and lived to be 12 years old with heart problems and a seizure disorder. So, I get it and I applaud you for letting her be herself. Now we have 2 chihuahua sons that love everyone but they are the derpy ones, at least Bandit is. Ever have a fur baby with ADD? Anyway, thanks for the story 😊

Aww... You are such a loving mom to Mister. She's so lucky to have you as her mom. She's too adorable !!! She looks like a kitten and most definitely doesn't look like she's 16 yrs old. You know everyone that we have crossed paths in our life ( family members including our pets ) we are destined to have, love and care for them. She's meant for you to love and care for this life ! Karma always have a way of paying us back, and most of the time it's not from someone that we did good/bad graces from. It will be from someone else or something else. You'll be rewarded by your good karma and your kind hearted. Also it's such a good example that you are setting for your children to experience. Even though Mister is disabled and can't do most things for herself you still never gave up on her. Instead you help, care and love her without hesitation on your end. You are making a great impact on your kids to become the most loving and kind hearted person. Who knows later in life we could be like Mister and we would never want our children or husband to gave up on us or don't love/want to care for us and think we are a burden to them.
Please don't listen to anyone telling you to put her to sleep, she's still young at 16 yrs old my mom cat live up to be 31 yrs old. Just keep on loving, caring, being there for her like you do now then I am sure you and her will have lots more years together. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story of you and Mister. Thank you for being so loving and caring to Mister. Your loving personality never fail me. This is the reason why I love you even more!!! 😘
For Mister water situation you can get her a ceramic water fountain ( Has to be ceramic/glass bowl or else it will breeds bacterias NO plastic ) they sell at Petco or with your talent I am sure you can google how to diy it plus you can make a video about it on here too. I would love to watch that!!! Also You can add a tablespoon of organic apple vinegar the Braggs brand ( get at whole foods for $6 ) into the water bowl for her. Organic apple vinegar has so so many health benefits and wards off many diseases for our pets and us human you can research all about it. Another great thing you can do is add a teaspoon of organic coconut oil (get at Costco for real cheap $19 ) straight into her food and mix for many great benefits and wards off diseases as well. You can also springle some of the organic turmeric powder ( get at wholefood sell by the oz) straight to her food and mix them up will helps her with speedy healing any mishaps in her organs and internally and externally as well. All these 3 God sent ingredients; organic apple cider, organic coconut oil, organic turmeric powder are amazing to treat problems and can have them daily as vitamins as well because they are loads with tons of antioxidants and nutrients in them and will help our pets and us human. I'm 32 & my name is Abby! My favorite Disney Princess growing up was Ariel from the little mermaid! (Secretly... Ariel still is my favorite Disney Princess!) I had the 80's character bedding & curtains of the little mermaid! I absolutely LOVE the more grown-up version that you did to your daughter's room! Think I will have to do something similar to my little girl's bedroom! Just thought it was really cool that your daughter's name is Abby and her favorite Disney Princess is Ariel! ☺

my daughters room are those same colors. Wall color is slightly darker, more of a Tiffany color and her dresser she wanted lavender. Working on her desk now... Great ideas!

If she hates baths it may help to put a towel in the bottom of the tub so that her feet cant slip around. It can also help to fill the tub before placing them in there, and then firmly hold the scruff of the neck ofc. I hope she makes it awhile longer :)
