How to decorate a small bedroom (for a girl) on a really small budget! This room measures at just 9 feet by 11 feet, but is super adorable and feels spacious! I hope you enjoy this room makeover and some of these quick decorating ideas and tips!
Here are some quick small bedroom decorating tips:
- Paint a light colour, like white, to reflect more light and give the illusion of more space
- Hang panel curtains right at the ceiling to make the ceiling look higher and the room larger.
- Make a feature wall! We used decals to give one room a focal point!
- Stick to a small colour scheme. We choose white, hot pink, baby pink, teal and mint.

I think you did just the right thing by focusing on your daughter's life; all the rest will take of itself, trust me. I'm a great-grandmother and I know what I'm talking about! Her excitement is breathtaking! my girls room is very very similar! we used target & dollar tree gift bags inside of michaels frames as diy art :)
Reno regret is a real thing during the first half of the renovation process. I was in renovation regret for a loooooong time as we did our kitchen because it was so slow going and I was sure it would never end. Thankfully now that I can actually see the end and we are at the point where we aren't living in chaos anymore I'm SOOOOO glad we did the renovation. It has been a long but worthwhile process.
Plus Izzy's reaction is priceless... She such a sweety! I'm sure she's happier about having her own room then she is regretting some fun in the sun. Love your ideas... I too am in the middle of a mini reno. I have a 6yr old and one on the way and my hubby and I giving up our master bed room so the girls can enjoy a larger shared space.

I reno'd my daughter's room during the summer and it gave her plenty of time to adjust to the newness and where to find everything before school started back up. I was divorced and working so the school year routine did not provide enough time for such a large project. All of your projects are possible if you get your girls to help and aim for a B instead of an A+. You should listen to that girl of your's more often! Artistically, her frame college arrangement is very balanced and interesting. She gets an A+ from me!
Reno regret is very real. I feel like every time we do a project in my house, I tell myself we're done and promise to never do it again... only to do it again! It looks beautiful, you have a real eye for organization design.

I'm no designer but I love what she did with her wall. I think it's absolutely adorable for her age. I don't have daughters but I do have two boys, ages 4 1/2and 6 and they currently share a room and love it that way. One day they will want some space and we will give it to them. Hopefully I can give them the "Trace and Shane" version of this one for your sweet Izzy. And all the work you put in.... well done, it's beautifulllllllll!!!!!!! I love your videos, as usual!

I think you did fine having your renovation during the summer. I mean, can you imagine during the busy school year trying to squeeze that in among homework, school activities and such? Also, they have a nice adjustment period before classes start. I agree putting the craft room on hold to enjoy family time is smart.

OMG that room is so pretty. I can't believe it cost less than $300 to redo her room. I think it was great that you could half the room to make one side a office and another your daughters room such a smart idea. those sprinkles look great on the wall. Can not wait to see the rest of the rooms.

We also did renovations/home improvements over the summer at one point a few years back. It just worked out that that was when we had the most time to get it done. Just keep your eye on the prize and you will be so happy when it's all done! :)

Great self-control letting her hang things in a pattern she likes. My parents gave my siblings and I creative freedom and we love them for that. The room is fantastic!

Beautiful reveal! Excellent use of space in a small bedroom! I think it's good that you are doing the renovations during the summer instead of during the school year.
I love the room! And the summer may have been a better time to do this. Imagine starting in October when the kids are in school and homework gets lost in reno mess. Then the projects take longer than expected and run into the start of the holidays, that would be stressful! I think you timed this perfectly.

I think budget wise, it was a really great idea to do the renovations now, if you had done it in October it could've put a dent on the holidays budget (Thank's Giving, Christmas,....).
But, yeah I feel you, last year I painted the wall that goes around my parents house, in July, ugh...
Looks GREAT and she looked so happy. Good job mom. ...glad you let her do her wall her way. We took on a lot of projects last summer and then in the middle of it my mum passed away so it was not a proper summer at all - it became just endless stress. You should put a pin in that craft room until autumn at least .... just label your boxes because knowing you, you'll want that stuff before then 😆 Can't wait to see the other rooms!
That turned out soooo cute!! How lucky she is! It's okay..think of it this way it'll all be done, fresh & cozy for the fall & winter months for you to enjoy when u are stuck inside lol
I hear you sister, my husband and I did a kitchen renovation a few years ago just before our daughter was graduating from high school. I had a living room full of 100 + ikea kitchen boxes just waiting for assembly. I did all my cooking on the bbq. We survived thank goodness. I don't think there is ever a great time to do renovations especially when you have a young family. The upside, when the renovation gets to be overwhelming you can head outside to recharge your battery with the nice summer weather. By the fall you will have everything done and can enjoy lots of time crafting. Enjoy!
