I just wish so bad you designed the spces for my future apartment, it's gonna be my first time living alone. 😄
I'm planning to do a virtual makeover type series, maybe that could work :D
Caveat is I'll simply design it without feedback, unlike the in-person house to home series where I actually work collaboratively to fulfill the clients need.
@@reynardlowell please do.. I've no idea how to deal with my small apartment 😂
@@reynardlowell that would be awesome, totally looking forward to it!
@@reynardlowell this would be so useful!
I have a combined lounge/ dining room .
It is about 5 metres x 4 metres and half of the 4 metres has a door way.
I cannot work out how to make it work and look nice.
Do you have any thoughts
My partner and I are about to move into our first unfurnished apartment and we're so excited to furnish it - I'm going to be using so many of your videos to make sure our new home feels cosy, bright, clean, and welcoming!
Hey! How did the furnishing go? Did you guys have fun with it or find any cool pieces for the space?
I really wish u can decorate our small apt ..😅while we have limited space also small budgets
You’re the best interior design CZcamsr out there honestly
Wow, thanks!
@@reynardlowell I was wondering. What is your take on bar tables behind the couch? Does it make the space too cluttery in your opinion?
Seconding this, every video I've watched from you is A+. Great channel-also inspiring!
As someone who currently has everything they own in one room (sharing space), I appreciate this video! I already apply lots of these in my own space, but I always learn something new with your videos Reynard.
As someone who kept moving everything around for years in my entire flat before finding a configuration that felt right, i say: don't hesitate to put your shelves, sofa(s), tables, rugs, plants... in weird places. It won't work most of the time, but for all the times it will you might stumble on something that fits you perfectly and sets the tone of a room. (And then you'll find a new armchair and have to move it all again; that's the game ;b )
As someone who is redecorating a small home I found these tips to be very effective. Thank you.
Oh dear, I liked all these tips but I loved the rooms he suggested didn't work, the room with all the things in it and the dark painted wall..very cosy.
I just love your vibe - you’re like meditative in nature - thank you for that The content of this video- out of this world ❤️
what i really enjoy about watching videos on this channel is less person talk shoot and more illustration shoots
unlike other chanells
Best small room tutorial I’ve ever seen
You have some great ideas and tips for small home living. Your delivery and presentation are both warm and efficient, and your innovative ideas are truly appreciated.
I feel like choosing between hinge doors and sliding doors are essentially choosing between less wall space and less floor space. Choose sliding doors and you'll have to leave an equal wall space empty for it to slide open. Choose swing doors and you'll have to leave a radius of its width for floor clearance. Accordian doors or bifold door or even narrow french doors might be a good middle ground. Plus their load on the hinges would be better distributed.
Nothing wrong with a blank wall, maybe use an accent paint color for that wall behind the door? Maybe a shade darker than the color you are using in the rest of the room.
My last home had a pocket door to the ensuite. Constantly had to be adjusted or it would bind or not be square when closed. I also resented the forced blank wall next to it as it would have been a perfect place to hang a picture because the adjacent wall was mostly all glass window.
An internal sliding door or pocket door doesn’t force the adjacent wall space to be empty. It just means it can’t be heavy. You can still stand something on the floor, or use lightweight hangers for posters, even framed posters.
We are getting the keys for our first owned home this Friday. It's a small space, but well laid out. Our living room has a kitchen along one wall, floor to ceiling windows along the opposite wall and 85% windows on the wall in between. Leaving us one available solid wall. This wall is already painted a gorgeous rich teal. So we plan to keep it and add a wall unit of partially open and closed storage spaces, in white and pale grey (the kitchen units are pale grey. I plan to make the bedroom feature wall a rich royal blue and then use both of these colours as accents throughout the apartment. I'm learning how to properly prepare and paint walls, as well as appropriate ways to clean and dispose of paint once finished. It's exciting. There are many tips in this video I have already used while selecting furninshings, though we are sticking with a "bulky" sofa bed (with storage!), so we have space if a friend/family visits.
Your videos are incredibly well done. I watch a lot of decorating tip channels but yours is probably the best out there.
Noticed that many contemporary interior designers use predominantly white colors. Without warm-coloured furnishings, I’ve always found such an aesthetic clinical and soulless, like a hospital. Would far prefer pastels instead. This video has some other great tips, though.
Would love a vid on lighting in the bedroom; specifically, curtains. I’m having a hard time finding how to block light at night and have the curtains look cohesive with a relatively light colour pallette.
You can layer light blocking (thick) curtains on the outside of the window with flowy sheer curtains on the inside, both in light shades. And keep the curtain rods to go longer than the window as he said in the video. This way, you can pull the thick curtains all the way out and use the sheer ones during the day for a light and airy feel, and use the thick ones to block light at night, with the sheer ones bunched at the centre.
Your ideas and advice remain in the mind because they are indisputable.
Im so glad I discovered your channel. Moving into Syd, your design vibe resonates with me. Thank you. Please keep making videos.
BRILLIANT advice!
I live in a small apartment and I selected a wallpaper that was just a bit darker than the white ceiling, that made the room look a bit taller, I also left a thin white line between the ceiling and the wallpaper, that made the corners to look a bit softer, so at 4:38 I miss the darker walls with a 'white' line at the top to raise and expand the ceiling.
Great tips btw, and good video.
Every single time I watch one of your videos, I walk away with one or more excellent tips I hadn't thought of previously...no exception with this one....keep 'em coming Reynard !!!
I liked your calmness and relaxation. Thanks!
what a soothing video 😇what if you want white curtains/blinds but you also want blackout windows (for sleep)
You can do two layers, a sheer and blockout curtain, or perhaps a white sheer curtain and blockout roller blinds.
Reynard what an amazing content! I am furnishing our dream home at the moment, and I am glad to have come across your channel and especially this episode. I love your clever interior styling tips and hacks.
Wish I've watched this sooner! I regret getting curtains for my small windows now! Blinds would be so much better!
Great advice... I have been watching so many interior design clips and none have been so structured and poignant. Thank you for this... Will keep it in mind once I finally find an (empty) appartment to invest some effort, time and budget in 😉
Pocket doors!!! My dream doors ♥
Fantastic tips yet again! Ty!!!
These videos are so great! I’m in the process of planning a home renovation and I’m getting so much inspiration from your channel. Your voice is so calming, and the quality of videos is fantastic.
Thank you. Very calmly and well explained.
Nicely presented, thank you
Super great ideas: transition container, bed shelving unit are just some of the great ideas that will enhance living - thanks.
Very sensitive and easy to do tips!!! It is wonderful and we thank you Mr. Reynard as my husband and I are downsizing from our 4-bedroom house to a 1-bedroom condo. :))
Oh heck yes! I’ve been waiting for this!!!
What a great video, and with so many resources. The background music and presentation are soothing, supportive, filled with excellent ideas, and just all around fabulous. So glad I found your channel. I feel re-energized to tackle my very small space with enthusiasm. Thank you!
I'm a big fan of round tables. I really wonder why some who DIY decorate their apartments almost always never choose a round dining table. Hehehe!
I got myself a small round table for dining but I threw it away because it was not comfortable. When you need a table for two - square one provides more space. It can extend to fit 4, or I guess even 6 people but I never have that much people over.
All other youtubers add knick knacks n unnecessary deco on precious shelf space. Its a maintenance nightmare. Love your videos, subscribed straight away when i read all the tips. I want a low maintenance apt, like a 5 star hotel suite..not a space cramped with useless junk. ❤
I really love the way you make all your videos
great video! thoughtful content and appreciate the quality production! also want to point out that i really appreciate that you included your sources for all of the design photos you included in your video! you've gotten yourself a new subscriber :)
Instant subscriber! Finally someone gives me practical tips I can start using today!
thank you for your videos. it is always just so calming and relaxing. so thank you! 🤍
helps a lot thankyou
Amazing video! These tips are so practical and affordable
I want furniture above the ground, with legs, but then it means I am compromising on storage space. It's so hard to do something like seen on pictures when you don't have the knowledge nor experience. Thank you for sharing all of this valuable information to help us live comfortably in our space. I have always dreamt of this but now is the first time I actually have the chance to customize my space and you're my go to for advise. What a meaningful channel.
Love your videos. So relevamt
Loving those videos, and constantly uploads!
I downsized to a smaller space a few years ago & have to be careful not to let it get cluttered.
I am a minimalist. I have a sectional and it works in a smaller space. I added 2 additional pieces which I love that makes it work. 😀
Great tips. Thank you again for this video
I really love the concept of space management and your video is worth taking inspiration from!!! ❤️❤️
OMG Thanks so much , I just found your channel and I am going to be staying in an unfurnished apartment, I thought getting an interior designer to design my space would be the solution but I figured I could do this entire thing without needing any designer, Thanks
This video is full of amazing tips! I never knew about painting the trims a different, lighter color. I'll have to remember that.
Thank you for such an organized and detailed video! :D
fantastic! thank you, Reynard
Great tip. Thank you so much :)
Excellent videos and tips! I swear by these tips and have implemented 10 out of 12, so we think alike!
...I'm one of those who thinks that minimalism has several levels that go from basic minimalism to the extreme, in which it's all about simplifying even the most recondite square centimeter. Using multifunctional furniture is a way to simplify everything, because in many cases you don't need to have three pieces of furniture but one or two (for example, sleeping on a sofa bed that you can use during the day as a seat and during the day as a bed, and so on). I'm not a big fan of multifunctional furniture but I recognize the high utility that they can mean. My current sofa is a Togo sofa from Manhattan Home Design, and although it isn't as multifunctional as other models, it still seems quite minimalist to me. Thanks for all these tips!
Great tips. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video! I’m moving out and into a 8m^2 room and while I’m having fun at decorating, it is still very small
Really thank you for your amazing and simple tips
Great video, your tips are really useful ✨
Love the clear tips, calm vibe and various examples you use! Love it, a thank you from The Netherlands.
Thank you for the videos and great tips...it really helped me furnish my room!
yes mirrors really open up the space.
I'm moving out and have no idea what to do and buy, but I like this video really opened up a lot.
great video, thank you for sharing!
Great presentation Reynard
Great content man!
I really like your content! Always top notch tips!
Thank you very much!
Thank you for those great tips
Well done. So helpful! Thank you!
I would love to see a video of you showing all your lamps and where you got them from🤩 It looks amazing
I live in a very small condo. Not a fan of white walls. Too stark. I have a lovely palette of pale pastels. They are calming and soothing and happy. The quality of natural light is an important consideration: what direction is your window facing?
So helpful. Thanks!
Thank you... great tips. 🥰
I appreciate such detailed video about the topic
You are a God amongst men
Great video. Informative, interesting and , oddly, calming.
Thank you Reynard! I'm hoping to redo window treatments in my living room soon, and your curtain ideas were helpful. I have a deep red sofa. (yes, very dated, but I love it.) Would a lighter version of this color be good for the curtains or should I go with a neutral color? Thank you for the tips on curtains. They were the most helpful for me.
I actually practice that something new comes in something old goes out . That stops the clutter from getting a big mess. Plus it stops me from becoming a hoarder.
thank you for this video it’s so well done
I just found your channel. Excellent. I just subscribed 👍
Brilliant video!
really cool video and tips! thx for this 🙏
Great video! Thanks♡
Thanks for the video, Reynard! It was very informative and I hope we can incorporate some of your ideas into our rather small living room. One problem we have is that a person I live with owns A LOT of books. Because of this, our living room basically looks like a library, which is not very cosy. And having two of all four walls covered with colourful books makes the room feel cluttered and small. Should we try to cover up the bookshelfs with light curtains or do you have any other ideas? I would greatly appreciate any tips you might have for us
I would get some of those bookcases that have doors that are half glass and half panelled (Ikea billy bookcases have these as an option). Then put the nicer looking books behind the glass - ideally with some other objects mixed in - and then put all the clashing books behind the panelled doors. The doors also reduce the amount of dust! Also - they probably don't want to hear it, but they likely could purge a few books. Or if they don't want to get rid of them - put a bunch of books they don't read as often in a storage box and swap them out periodically.
@@paulinavanvliet7718 Wow, thanks a lot for your answer! I'll have a look around for some of those book cases :-)
Great tips!!
Thank you! 0:00
Thnx for sharing such valuable tips Reynard 🤩..
